Dude this is a godsend of information! Ive been searchjng everywhere for information on the noise i have and what it could be and what it is i finally found your video 🙌
This is exactly what I was looking for. I have just uploaded a video (my youtube channel) of the noise my 80 series is making. I had the all the bearings replaced a year ago however a rumbling noise started soon after. I wish I could fix this myself as from today I can no longer drive my girl.
Hi Matt, I just purchased a heavy duty hub seal kit which has the upgrade in this video. Do I need to change or buy a new spindle or can I use the one in my 93 model?
@@MadMatt4WD thanks for your reply Matt, I forked out the big bucks for the extreme kit and extreme rear bearings. Just got the both diffs back from diff lapping and getting the front elocker and rear Looks fitted and new yokes, uni joints and balanced tail shafts. I'm slowly doing the 80 up so the Mrs and I can go up to the Cape and across to the Kimberly next year if the finances allow, if not it will be the next dry season. Loving your channel mate. I did ask a question about upgrading the front hubs to 10mm studs on your short video of you showing the rears. Anyway, thanks again.
I wonder why my 95 T100 came with the needle bearing in it from factory? I had to replace because it had dried up at 260k...lol. was squeaking.....took me forever to convince the dealership and several days before they called me back and had one.....this was in 2014.
Hi mate looking at doing this as I have a vibration in my 80 when I go up hills as well as I strange very light grinding noise after a good weekend of 4x4n. I hope this is what's causing it !
Hey Matt, was hoping you could give me some advice. I recently rebuild both hubs on my 80 series replacing both CV’s and bearings. About 1000 km after the rebuild I started getting some "serious vibration" on the front right wheel....I think. To try and explain the vibration, it is almost like when you drive on the highway and you go over the Rumble strips (also known as sleeper lines or alert strips) but it only lasts for a short duration then goes away. It is a bit intermittent. I opened up the hub again to inspect thinking a bearing has failed or something else has gone wrong but I cannot see any damage on the bearings or CV. It might be worth mentioning that I also replaced the shocks and coils springs which added a 2” lift not sure if this could be the cause or contribute. Any advice will be appreciated. Thanks Martin
Hi Matt, thanks! After more investigation I found some damage on the spindle. For whatever reason I did not change the spindle when I redid the hubs. But thanks for the advice! I will check the uni’s and re balance the wheels.
@@MadMatt4WD thanks Matt, I’ve just installed new terrain tamer spindles with the pre fitted roller bearing set up. Should the c.v shaft still have any play in the spindle once it’s all fitted up?
hey Matt how are you ? I all ready bought the TT spindle bearing bush , thank you for the info , now , can you recommend me a type of grease for this application ? maybe a synthetic grease , bit what type ? TT recommend any one ? thank you again man
Bearing use any good quality heavy duty bearing grease. The cv and spindle use a quality moly grease. Aside from that you’ll be fine. Make sure to grease the spindle bush properly.
