Just wanna say hi! Am a final year Applied Math major specialising in financial math, looking to do risk management! Not really interested in the front office roles like IB or sales and trading haha thus leaning more towards quantitative risk (Hopefully). Very insightful video into market risk! Am currently completing the FRM Lvl 1 exam tomorrow as well, what are your thoughts on it? Does it matter to an employer? What if you were evaluating a candidate wanting to do risk? Is it necessary to have a quantitative degree (like Math, Statistics) or be extremely good at math to become an entry-level risk analyst? I am interested in becoming one but I was told that a (market) risk analyst is only available for those who specialize in quant subjects and have masters in those math-related areas.
