What does ABBA mean? Is it okay to call God our Daddy? 

#biblestudywithme #Abba A few weeks ago, a friend asked me what the word Abba means in the Bible. This video was originally shown to his church and made for an "offline" audience. I hope this short video helps you understand the meaning of Abba, an Aramaic word that shows up untranslated in the Greek New Testament. The basic meaning is "Dad" or "Father," but there's a lot of debate on the internet about what it means.
The Aramaic word Abba shows up in Jewish legal documents from the Mishnah and was one of the earliest Aramaic words used by infants. Should we translate Abba as Daddy? Should we translate Abba only as Father?
While folks on the internet will disagree about what the Aramaic word Abba means, Timothy George's New American Commentary on Galatians gives us good reason to realize Abba is a term of intimacy rather than infancy. Whether it was on the lips of Jesus or the pen of Paul, Abba was intended to emphasize a relationship with our heavenly Father.
