What does an inmate look for when they are trying to setup a staff member?
Listen in as Anthony Gangi, Host of Tier Talk, discusses key factors that make staff vulnerable to manipulation. All days inmates are eyeing staff down. Inmates are looking for weaknesses that they exploit for gain. For an inmate, it's all about reward with minimal risk. In this video let's discuss what makes us vulnerable.

Good talk Anthony. It seems it comes down to awareness. As usual I'll apply it to life outside the wall. Situations: The most obvious would be a difficult situation you are going through like: divorce, death, health problems, job loss, or financial troubles. Any of those could be used by a manipulative person to become your resource. There is a list I've seen of top stress producing life events. That's likely a reasonable starting point to assess your vulnerability. Disposition: Rule No. 1, remember not everyone means you well. Be careful what you share with people you don't know well. Strangers get my first name only. They don't need to know where I work or live, or my relationship status.

I totally agree agree. if we are not aware of our own vulnerabilities (whether dispositional or situational), we have no shield against any of the games the inmates will employed. The best way to avoid manipulation is to know yourself, your situation and, the hardest part, admit that it can happen to you.

I have to admit that before your videos I used to think corrections was a step below being a police officer. As an aspiring patrolmen I guess it was a little bit of job pride or future job pride, but after watching your videos I no longer think that way I view corrections and police as being equal and for that I want to say thanks you

the problem is administration does know how to stop the setup process .Inmates were gunning for me hard even though i never shared any personal info. They were mad because i made very large contraband busts on a regular basis so they targeted me.I decided to quit missouri doc and about to start with nebraska doc...

It’s sad. When you have good officers, inmates will do what they can to rid that officer, including bogus complaints. Management should be aware of the game and eliminate the power the inmates are trying to possess

I never took the same path twice, always changing witch dorm to go in first, and never indulged in a conversation with the inmates no names just referred to them as inmate, an older Sargent taught me that talk to them with respect, but keep it short and clear what you expect and always be concistant just my opinion keep up the great wok
