According to this concept a person will be considered evil as long as he has not mastered himself or reached that spiritual state. So it'd not be wrong to call evil a synonym of ego. Ego is something that can't be controlled by even a fraction of human population and in that way almost all of the humanity is evil. Also some have reached that spiritual state in other religions as well, does that mean they'll be considered evil despite having a control over themselves?
@loremipsum980
@loremipsum980 Год назад
The fact that a lot of people are taught/conditioned to believe that evil is a force external to themselves, and not within themselves, birthed from their undisciplined monkey minds, primitive egos, and lower consciousness, are exactly what causes all the atrocities we see today. To combat evil, we MUST turn inwards and change/master ourselves first (in spirituality, we call it "inner work"), not outward towards the world. We can't expect to fight evil when evil itself also resides in our own hearts. Too many times, especially on the internet, all I ever see is one type of human garbage arguing with another type of human garbage, while each side ironically regarding themselves as "angels who are always morally pure and in the right", failing to recognize and accept that there is darkness inside them that is compelling them to lash out at others. "A man may conquer a thousand men a thousand times in battle, but he, indeed, is the noblest victor who conquers himself." - The Buddha.

In the Abrahamic religions it is said that only the devil /Iblish is responsible for bad deeds. There is no role for God in the creation of Satan. I know how it feels to be duplicitous. Hinduism is the only supreme life philosophy of self-liberation and world welfare.

Good luck with that in your life review. Colossians chapter 1:15-20 15 The Son is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. 16 For in him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things have been created through him and for him. 17 He is before all things, and in him all things hold together. 18 And he is the head of the body, the church; he is the beginning and the firstborn from among the dead, so that in everything he might have the supremacy. 19 For God was pleased to have all his fullness dwell in him, 20 and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether things on earth or things in heaven, by making peace through his blood, shed on the cross.

Excellent video as usual 👍🏼 The concept of Maya in Advaita is a bit different than from the bhakti traditions, it’s interesting that Maya is female. Will have to read up on this!
@DharmaSpeaks
@DharmaSpeaks 3 года назад
Advaita vedanta holds that the world is literally an illusion when viewed from the ultimate state. The Bhakti traditions hold that the world is real, but has the potential to drag us away from our relationship with God. The concept that maya is distinctly female is certainly there in the Vaishnava traditions and also some Shaivite ones.
@swatisri2409
@swatisri2409 3 года назад
@@DharmaSpeaks Advaita too, holds the world as real - however there are two realities 1) Paramarthika - the absolute reality which is the “brahman” and 2)Vyavaharika - where the consciousness is covered in Maya. So Maya is real as well, because without Maya, the universe cannot exist. Maya and brahman together constitute the universe - Brahman, who supports Maya is the cause and Maya is the manifestation. I suppose in the bhakti traditions, brahman is the supreme god Vishnu and Maya, like you said in the video, works for Vishnu in creating the illusion?
@indianmilitary
@indianmilitary 3 года назад
@@swatisri2409 Yes. The main reason for the confusion is due to some Advaithians who wrongly interpret Maya as an illusion through which Brahman falsely appears as the universe. Maya is the creative shakhti of Brahman and it is absolutely real. It also means, the material realm is also real. Shiva (athma/brahman) and Shakthi or Maya or prakriti always exist together for the perpetual duality cycles to happen eg birth/death (including reincarnation cycle), wave/particle, energy/matter, manifestation/concealment, wake/sleep, man/woman, freezing/melting, summer/winter etc This is Sankhya Vedic metaphysics which combines Advaitha (non dual shiva) and Dvaitha (dual shakhti). In other words, Advaitha is INCOMPLETE without Dvaitha and vice versa. Sankhya Vedic metaphysics can be validated by logic, double slit quantum experiment and embodied experience (direct knowledge through focus and meditation) Shiva and Shakhti or Maya cannot exist without each other. Without Maya, Shiva is "shava" (corpse) and without shiva, nothing exists or nothing can be perceived in its current form or no duality cycles can happen, Advaitha also says Tat Tvam Asi - meaning you (conscious and immanent athma) are (already) that (conscious, transcendent and omnipresent divine) regardless of whether one has "self realization" or not because without the conscious, immanent and omnipresent athma nothing can exist. False identification with thoughts and body is just an illusion created due to the experience of 5 senses by the immanent and conscious athma even though it is NOT the doer. Mithya also does NOT mean false. Mithya means relative world. eg Tasks in your office (which you have to finish) is temporary but not false. In the same way., the subject/object split experienced is temporary but does not mean it is false.

And since, for the last 1000+ years the world is dominated by the narratives of less evolved Abrahamics over more evolved Hindus & other _dharmic_ philosophies, it sort of validates the prophecies of 'Kaliyuga' - The Dark Age!

You did a pretty cool presentation of the hindu view of evil, but your analysis of the abrahaamic religions is pretty simplistic. While i can't comment much on islam and agree that you will find this more basic wordview in a lot of christians, as you will find in a lot of hindus, that is not how the christian faith has historically seen things. Catholics, orthodox and several protestants would actually agree with a lot of what you say here. The idea of original sin leads us to see that our world has the problems it has exactly because we usually fails to connect to God thanks to atachment to the things of this world or to ourselves. While Satan and his angels are sure a big part of the problem, the one who is aways the cause of the problem is i. The christian idea is that thanks to Our Lord victory we can aways have the power to win against the enemies from outside or against ourselves and find a superior state where our natural friendship with God is actual. That is what our saints show with their lives and teachings. Historically the christians also would not say that Satan is even close to a equal to God. His domain is very limited and he can't do anything unless he is permited. As shown especially in the Gospels, the idea is that he only can do what he can because God uses his works as a mean to greater goods. This should be obvious if you remember how christians philosophy takes evil as just a privation of the good and not a substancial thing itself. Saints like Augustine and others actually combated people with these dualistic views. The final showdown in the apocalypse should make this clear, for the "battle" is only Jesus appearing and defeating the evil powers while not exerting Himself at all. The battle on heaven also say the same thing, for there God is so greater that the fallen angels the He does not even bother doing much, letting St. Miguel Archangel do the battling with the other angels. Also, besides popular descriptions, theologians like Aquinas would defend that Satan and his angels never had the type of communion with the Father that the saints have. The popular descriptions that say otherwise are more like myths, they say a lot of important truths but they should not be read as modern western people read everything. I'am sure that hindus agree here. So, please be more careful when analysing other religions, one can fail to see what these faiths say and just look at how the average person today understands they. Hindus suffer that a lot, so i don't need to say why this is bad, especially on this time where people care even less about the non-material realities. I see in you a desire to understand other points of view, so i'am sure this little rebuke will help.

One key question to answer is that of demonic possession. Christians believe in it and Hindus do too I think. I have a hunch that Christianity is generally fearful of what they would call occult and what we would call “suksma sharir”. I think their theology of exclusivity is based on a fear of occult, which they term as false Gods. The Brahman is the creator beyond even the Karan sharir. But our devatas reside in Karan Sharir and manifest in Sukshma Sharir. In these realms, Christian concept of devil pitting against devata is very valid and is borne by our own experiences of dealing with anxiety, depression brought about randomly. And I will not even mention the real phenomenon of demonic possessions in all faiths! Of course, karma might be the underlying driver but can’t deny the mechanism of such possessions might be consistent with Christian conception of devil.

I’m curious on ur views regarding the kalkhi avatar defeating the kali demon of the Kali Yuga narrative because of how similar it sounds to other messianic prophecies like do you think it was all just added in during later periods due to influence from abrahamic traditions or do u think it has any basis in reality and in scripture, or do u have the opinion of the whole narrative being more metaphorical as in kalkhi representing a sort of reawakening/enlightenment in mankind while the demon kali represents the accumulated ignorance of mankind which is the idea I tend to subscribe to

looking back at the context in the Brhadaranyaka Upanishad 6.4, it involves a married couple, a husband and wife, who got married with the commitment to have children. The husband is advised to try to convince the wife through pleasant means by way of gifts and pleasing talk. Only if she continues to refuse, as an extreme measure, he is advised to use mild physical force It would be a different matter if the woman chose to remain unmarried. In that case, she would be completely free and nobody would impose any such restrictions on her. There are many references of women scholars and teachers who led an unmarried life committed to their field of knowledge. An example of this is seen in the same Upanishad in the story of Gargi, who was an unmarried scholar who engaged in philosophical discussion with Yajnavalkya. Gargi was so excellent that all the male scholars in the assembly allowed her to be their representative in challenging Yajnavalkya. A similar situation is seen in Rig Veda 1.179, where the reverse of the above is seen. In this case, the husband, the rishi Agastya, is abstaining from his wife, Lopamudra. So she complains that she has been waiting for years for their sexual union, and her youth is slipping away. She says, even in ancient times rishis had union with their wives for offspring, so it is Agastya’s duty to fulfill his marital obligation. Agastya realizes his error, and agrees for sexual union with his wife Lopamudra. So it is not a one-sided deal. Both the man and woman are equally held accountable for sexual union in a marriage. We can look at the above passage as the last ditch attempt at reconciliation. So the passage in question cannot be twisted and torn from its proper context to be used for allegations of misogyny or other “atrocity against women”. The utmost sanctity and respect for the wife and the woman in general is seen in that same passage. In 6.4.6: “श्रीर्ह वा एषा स्त्रीणां यन्मलोद्वासाः” - “The wife who has put on clean clothes (i.e. who has just finished her period) is indeed Shri (Lakshmi, prosperity, well-being, glory, etc.), the best among women.” Also, in subsequent passages, we see descriptions of various types of offspring. For example, If the couple desires a son who is black in colour with red eyes (!) and is well-versed in three Vedas and will live a full lifespan, they should cook rice in water, mix it with ghee and eat it. Then they will be capable of producing such a son But also, equally, If the couple desires a daughter who is highly intelligent and scholarly and will live a full lifespan, they should cook rice with sesame, mix it with ghee and eat it. Then they will be capable of producing such a daughter. So you see, in those ancient days, a son and a daughter were equally desired. In this aspect, we can say that gender equality existed to a far greater degree back then compared to medieval times when a daughter was considered a “burden”. Also, notice the above procedure to get a son who is black with red eyes. We can also say that in those times, they didn’t discriminate on the basis of skin colour. This is in contrast with today, where everyone wants to be “fair and lovely” or “fair and handsome”. Besides, who has actually tested whether eating rice with ghee or sesame has resulted in getting the specific son or daughter? Similarly, who has gone back to the ancient period and witnessed some husband slapping his wife for refusing to have sex, just because it is mentioned in this Upanishad (and that too, in the Khila Kanda, the appendix)? Rather, in today’s world, we see more domestic violence done by people of all countries and mindsets, who have not even heard of a book called “Brhadaranyaka Upanishad”. Also Hindus don’t even follow that specific upanishad lol We are not bound by any one book 😂 These abrahamic people are so childish and silly

@@Ashutosh5897 Hindu has mind of being in tolerance toward a man who live near or with wife'a parents in order to take care look after and accompany wife parents till died. He being called ghar jamai and loss his honor. Second, hindu religion and culture regard killing bird or fish to feed female orphans is not good.. And mistreating female orphans bring less bad karma than mistreating your own father.

This is why I had a problem when I was Christian. I still love Jesus, but not the religion they believe someone who has been good and moral their whole life will go to hell if they don’t follow Christianity, but a murderer or bad person can just say they’re believe in Jesus even though they’ve been bad their whole life and can continue to be bad as long as they confess their sins. No, God does forgive as Krishna says in the Gita, but you have to change your bad and sinful ways, not have no love or regard for God and continually keep sinning and being malicious, selfish, taking advantage of and hurting others.

You were misleaded with such an interpretation of the Bible; people who teached you that took out certain fragments instead of comparing and putting them in the context of the whole scripture. Some verses to show you how wrong is that interpretation: "Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven" (Matthew 7:21). Or the Matthew 25:31-46 about sheeps and goats; please read it slowly. Bible is much more complex and multi-faceted than it is represented by many churches, since people stay on some fixed set of beliefs that's a mixture of scripture and the tradition (exactly like pharisee did, paradoxically) instead of opening to the relationship with God, asking Holy Spirit for the gift of understanding what is written down and with faith and trust try to understand the complexity of His nature fully. The author of this video also doesn't understand the Bible; he understands it and shows it in the very simplistic way and then call it simple and primitive, out of his own limited understanding. He presents Hinduism in a very complex and interesting way, but epithets he uses toward other religions in his videos to make the Hinduism seem more enlightened (in a way that seems to alost imply: if you don't take it, then your thinking is primitive and you're unable to grasp complexity, which is very manipulative) exposes how actually little respect and humility he have toward actually and honestly understanding them. It's good that you're seeking and are aware of things that don't make sense; but when they don't make sennse, instead of rejecting all, maybe try to find why these things don't make sense and how they actually play out. Keep up brother on your journey, God wants you to seek Him with all honesty; He doesn't reject when you seek Him with open heart

Devi (Goddess) is not thee servant of God. On the contrary, she's the counterpart the other other half. Goddess is Shakti, she is the power of the god , she who has taken a form.

The FIRST thing Jesus did when He began His ministry was to confront the evil god of this world to whom He came to challenge for the ownership of our souls and control REALITY as a whole. It is very clear. "For this purpose has the Son of Man come, to destroy the works of the devil".

Who will compensates the oppressed people? What will happen to criminals (evil people who commited all kinds of sins) and who are acquitted from punishment in this life? Answer these questions and you will conclude that there must be punishment for evil doers. Punishment can be applied in the judgement day.

Even though all souls will reach what we call enlightenment in their own time, I don't believe that this world/rebirth is only suffering and misery...if it was, then our souls wouldn't have chosen to incarnate here in the first place. It's always a mix of both but I think physical life is a gift unto itself. Similar to how college is fun and exciting but there is a point when its time to graduate. I think there should be less emphasis on the negative aspects of the ego and of life, the ego to a degree is essential to survival.
