Im trying or have been trying to start a business in the philippines..im not married there. You were talking before with a lady about OFC or something like that a single corporation. I was looking at the massive negative list...i couldnt understand if ALL retail businesses are not allowed or just some...not sure why the philippines treats foreigners so poorly..its too bad..they would have so much investment if they didnt. I love it there though im back in Canada. Hope they midernize thei laws...id love to go back and do so.e business. Love your channel

Hi Greg, appreciate your compliment. You don't need to be married to have an OPC here. I think its complicated here. I can understand how it feels unfair. Even with land ownership, even if you are married to a Filipina, you can't own land. So there are definitely some restrictions for foreigners here. It's only been since 2019 that there was such a thing as an OPC where foreigners could own many types of businesses 100%. Before that the most a foreigner could do is own a business 40%. So there is improvement being made, but still challenges. That said, I think there is still a lot of opportunities in the Philippines for businesses. As I've been doing research on opening an office for a client in Indonesia recently, there is also restrictions there and the entry fees are very high in comparison.

Partly due to your channel and even few connections through them we have decided to incorporate in the Philippines. We dicided to go for OPC for various reasons. Thanks for great and helpful content.

Wondering if some employers will fire people before December or some type of work around to avoid the 13th month?
@JohnSmuloTV
@JohnSmuloTV Год назад
That's not possible legally because it's prorated and needed to be paid before am employee leaves. However, there are employees that wait to the 13th month to collect the extra money and then quit

@@JohnSmuloTV I heard that some stores only hire people as temporary work or independent contractor to avoid paying benefits. Can you go over some of that in a future video?

@@dardosjourney4359 Let me try to think of how to incorporate that into a bigger topic but doesn't sound legal.

This was a great video, thank you!🙏 For small business owners, is it possible to hire people only on a freelance basis (and have them work out of a co-working space)? So the employee would responsible for all the government taxes and PhilHealth etc? Can you perhaps make a video on this? I'm comparing Vietnam (where setting up a "Representative Office" is super affordable and very little bureaucracy), or the Philippines. I'm planning a trip around Asia in a few months to find some great people, but not yet sure of where the best people are and where it's the cheapest and simplest for me to hire some staff. I'm only staying out there for a couple of months max, after that the employees would be all remote. Also, if you could cover the best places to advertise for workers in Cebu would be greatly appreciated. I'm considering your services at Purple Cow, but not quite there yet, need more info first!🤔

Hy sir! I wanna open pakistani food restaurant in Philippines. Is pakistani food people will like in Philippines? Can you guide me?
@JohnSmuloTV
@JohnSmuloTV 5 месяцев назад
Hello, I would recommend doing free taste tests of your food for Filipinos and asking them if they would pay for it if you opened a restaurant. I would also consider opening it near a university where there are more Pakistani students studying to be nurses and doctors here. Feel free to send me a message on Facebook or email.

Hi, would an Artist Development Program meet the Training Centre requirements for 100% Foreigner Owned, and what if it is linked to a Recording Studio, would that be a viable Service?
@JohnSmuloTV
@JohnSmuloTV 6 месяцев назад
Hi Gary, it's really expensive to do something that is for locals, but in a bigger city like Manila could well be viable.
