The newly FDA-approved iLet Bionic Pancreas is the most hands-off automated insulin delivery system to be commercially available. At set up, all you enter is your weight and the only interaction with the pump is to announce meal size, no carb counting.
Stacey talks with Beta Bionics CEO Sean Saint. We go through this pump system in lots of detail, talk about future plans - yes we’ll talk dual chambered pump which is the original design here - and get a little philosophical about the idea behind a hands off system.. especially for those of us used to being much more in the driver’s seat.

The charger is the deal breaker for me. Not everyone works in an office all day. Some of us have to literally charge our pumps on power banks in the middle of the desert. Not going to haul around the stupid base and special cable every where I go. What's so hard hard about a USB-C? The micro USB portion alone is a deal breaker. I can't tell you how many times I've had to stop at a gas station or truck stop to buy a micro-usb cable for the T-Slim. I had to search to find this info out because my doctor didn't know how it charged and the nicely pictured, several paged brochure didn't address it either. If I were ILet, I'd go back to your engineers and tell them to talk to real people. Probably millions of dollars in research and in my opinion fails the most basic need.

I have heard both the CEO and Ed D. give long interviews on the ilet, and Ed is much more informative.

Ed said the pump with glucagon is likely 3-6 years away from having an FDA approval.

I thought you may have used my quote from Charlie and the chocolate factory in your interview. The goose that lay the golden egg. Because it certainly sounds like it to me. Sick to death of living in Australia. I bet you I’m waiting 2 to 3 years for this. I may not make it.
