Welcome back to Dreaming of a Chateau!
In this episode we take you through the whirlwind that is our first Summer at Puy Vidal. “WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO MOVE INTO A CHÂTEAU?” highlights the arrival of our furniture container from California. 4 months after its departure from the West Coast of the US, our 40’ furniture container sailed thousands of miles around the world to land on the shorelines of France. Our furniture arrived just in time to help us prepare for a series of guests that descended upon the Château with loads of excitement and encouragement.These are the adventures of Julia, her partner Caroline, her sister Penelope and her parents; an American family taking a leap of faith, living out a long-awaited dream. Chateau de Puy Vidal is a medieval fortress turned renaissance Castle, and is located in the Charente region of Nouvelle Aquitaine, France. This channel is dedicated to our love of chateaux, old stones, magic, family and history. We share with you our process of applying to visas, setting up a business, purchasing a property sight unseen during COVID all before moving across the world. What happens when your dreams come true?

Ask Stephanie Jarvis about moving the pool table. They had to take theirs apart because it was too heavy to move as is. She also found a person who could do that.

Not only did Stephanie @thechateaudiaries find people who could disassemble and move her pool table.. but she also had those same people take the pool table away to clean restore, and add pockets into the table.. I believe yours also is without pockets.. 😁😁😁

That was a Derecho storm you had. It comes in hard and fast. Big winds and rain. At least you found out about the seepages in your ceiling and roof for future repairs. You have a wonderful Château. Love it. Great video! Thanks for sharing!

Even with all the activity that was going on this was a very calming vlog... it was like being read a story.. your voice is very natural and relaxing as are all of the chateau ladies, even the gorgeous dog is quietly playiing. Some vloggers are quite manic and rushed in their delivery and content which leaves me feeling as if I've been caught up in the eye one of those storms you mentioned. Fingers crossed you don't have a repeat performance and the roof holds out for many years to come. I am impressed at the level of organisation you put into the listing of all of your items and locations for them.... Good luck with your first workshop. The Dusky pink in the bathroom was a great choice...thanks for sharing x

We’ve been back from France for about a month now and still find it difficult to find the right words to express our gratitude. We are so full of emotions and in eternal bliss. We never imagined we would be dreaming in a Chateau. In a luxurious honeymoon suite staring at the full moon through the bedroom window. The Chateau is a magical place and we understand why you are happy in your new home. The structure is a sound and massive work of art and despite its enormous size it embraces its guest with warmth and charm. And you ladies ROCK! What a powerful, resilient and brave team of women. Our admiration for you grew tremendously. Thank you for making our wedding anniversary memorable. It was indeed the perfect timing and worth waiting 40 years to visit France ❤

Congratulations on a successful move! Yes, your furniture certainly looks at home there! What gorgeous ceilings…. I had not noticed those on your previous vlogs. The La Rochefoucault chateau is so beautiful…… I visited in April, and thought it was spectacular, especially that lovely little boudoir. But Puy Vidal is also stunning. Finally, a new video! So lovely to see everyone and all of the progress you've made. That rosy pink color in the bathroom is gorgeous! I felt the emotion from you dad when talking about leaving his company. Perhaps, he can install some equipment at the chateau for astronomy workshops and continue his passion, but in a different way. Hello. Great Vid, great house! Just wanted to mention that pool (billiard) tables are made to be dismantled into many pieces in order to move them. You will need pros to do that process without damaging the table.

Thank you for giving us the big picture. I was wondering what happened to you all we haven’t heard from you in a long time. This was a welcome surprise. This move seemed like a daunting experience but step-by-step you arrived at the end result. In a society where I want it now instant gratification does not work and can be stressful and difficult to go step-by-step. Moving to a new country is less daunting and accomplishable when you take the step by step approach. Which I think you figured out by your Vlogs. I always wondered what happened to your dad. Thank you for taking the time to let us know. I am grateful. This wasn’t just an ordinary move for all of you but new directions, experiences and different careers and business ventures. I have moved manly times in my life and usually I would sell or give away my furniture because I knew it would not fit the same in my new home. I felt like I could use the money that I would spend on the moving cost to buy furniture that fit in the new location. I never regretted my decision. I always worked beautifully and as a single woman I just did not have the stamina for all that packing and unpacking. The good memories I carried with me and the bad memories could go to a new home with the old furniture! The home I retired Int has everything new except for my clothes and my favorite art work! It was a joy finding the perfect items for this home!
