What Does It Mean To REPENT | Hebrew Words Every Christian Should Know 

Yes I am in need of teshuvah... I have been feeling like I've gotten off course .. I could use the prayers especially as a single mom... This explanation of repentance has me thinking of all the times God asks His people to turn back to Him .. and turn from their wicked ways .. God bless you and your ministry

God doesn't forgive us because of something we do, but because of everything His Son Jesus did. The sacrifice of Jesus is credited to US by FAITH in His finished atonement alone, apart from anything we can do.

It means he turned away from the sins they committed. You're only thinking about greek transition, but remember it came originally in Hebrew and aramaic

Yeshua commanded all to repent and believe. Repent is not a suggestion, but a command. Being obedient to the Lord's command is an act of faith, and being faithful to our Lord's command is an act of obedience. The two (faith and obedience) are so intertwined that if you do not have one you will not have the other. Be blessed.

And Jesus answered, "the 'work' of God is this: to believe in the one whom he has sent." John 6:28-29 I've already clearly taught you in the original comment the difference in the language that the Bible was written in whether it be Greek or Hebrew that these are completely different words that have their distinct definitions that need to be respected you don't have the right to change the definitions just because you live in the 21st century and have been centuries into false teachings handed down. The holy writ dictates that God repented more than any character in the Bible are you going to say that God has sin he needs to turn from? Again, repent is nacham or metanoeo in the Greek. It means to have remorse about something or change your mind and it's CONTEXT dependent on what that is. God repented that he has made man and flooded the earth. It repented God that he made saul king. God repented of the disaster he was going to bring on the ninevites. Please read the bible. Not some commentary.

Belief in Jesus means belief in ALL that Jesus is and ALL that Jesus did and ALL that Jesus said. Two statements Jesus made which are clear in Greek and English: "If you love me, obey my commands." John 14:15, and "teach all nations ... to observe all that I have commanded you." Matthew 28:19-20. Jesus, Paul, and John all taught and preached repentance: turn from disobedience, turn from sin, turn from unbelief, turn from self-righteousness, turn from pride, turn from doubt, turn from rebellion, turn back to God.

Jesus spoke Hebrew/Aramaic, and when those who read or heard the Greek writings of the apostles, they'd have understood the context in relation to the Hebrew equivalent. In context, metanoia (μετάνοια) can mean to think differently, reconsider, or it can mean compunction for guilt, to turn from your choices. The word metanoia is used throughout scripture many times by the NT writers to mean turn from sin. Belief in Jesus means belief in ALL that Jesus is and ALL that Jesus did and ALL that Jesus said. Two statements Jesus said that you probably overlook: "If you love me, obey my commands." John 14:15, and when giving the great commission "teach all nation to observe all that I have commanded." Matthew 28:19-20. These statements of Jesus apply to us today just as much as they applied to the 1st century disciples to whom Jesus spoke.
