Dude I been ramper for 4 years the worst part about this job is dealing with the weather and sometimes the bags can be a pain in the ass because some ppl have to pack the closet in there bags 🙄 But I love it now and couldn't imagine doing anything else it's easy flexible and has its perks!
@@Mn-xx9hv let's put it this way its about having the confidence to work around a very busy and possibly dangerous environment. Aircraft as wonderful as they are can seriously damage or ruin your day . Its about working as a team and having eyes in the back of your head . No day is the same either on the ground or in the air . But I had some good times and met many amazing people.
@@airzulu2733 I hate to ask this way but what's the salary like, do you earn more money if you work as a RA longer? Is it a living wage? Do you have opportunities for promotion? I want to work as a ramp agent and I just want to be sure that I am making the right choice. Did you work with a company like swissport or did you work for the actual airline?
I’m a ramp agent myself for CLT... it’s a lot tougher than you think. It’s a decent career but you better make sure you be mentally ready for ridiculous thing like your pay check being cut shorter randomly, write-ups, drama among other ramp agents, extreme weather, and attendance! It’s not a very fun career, you’re only there to fly.
Gotta disagree with you on the fun part. For me It's a very fun career for me. Everyone has their opinion but me personally I love my job on the ramp. Pays good, with good benefits. Great people to work with for the most part and flexible schedule. I work at ORD and would recommend for anyone that wants to get paid for basically getting a work out, plus the flight benefits.
@@Chitownbullz21 thanks for some insight. I’m looking for a career change and on Indeed I see many job available 😅. I’m currently 45 years old., You think that’s an issue.? I do work hard and I enjoy challenges. Thanks in advance
@@jessicatierrayt WTF? The hell is wrong with you? You replied how's the job right? Me as a ramp agent I can tell you its a hard work. Why you taking it too serious? Aint nobody calling you lazy at all. You misunderstood my comment or something. You're the one who needs help or probably should go back to school and understand more English. Good night
I’m glad I watched this video, I thought it’d be a job i like, but now I realize it’s too much commitment and a LOT is required of me and I’m not dependable like that.. so.. haha good luck to everyone else applying tho
Ramp Agent>Crew Chief>Supervisor>Manager=11 years LAX>SJC>SFO. It’s physically and mentally jobs out on the ramp but very rewarding and proud of what I did everyday.
One thing is if you really love what u do nothing can stops u, this the beautiful work on working on to do here in Dubai, ramp staff, (aircraft marshal) I love machines
I just got hired and I think this is gonna be a good fit for me iam excited about the opportunity and even more happy to be out of a warehouse setting !! I’m definitely gonna try and ride this 1 out !!
If you are still there! Get a real good pair of boots! Good cold weather gear and rain gear!! And ALWAYS wear hearing protection!! This comes from someone with 20 some years of airport experience!
@@davidsmiths5471 hey David, I’m 18 about to graduate hs and I remember the first time I was at an airport I just knew I wanted to have some sort of career around that environment. I’m also thinking of doing a few years in the military, with your experience what’s the best way to get started to become a ramp agent?
@@braxtonvawter1922 Apply for major airlines first! Southwest, Delta, United! Then contractors such as Menzies ,swissport,GAT ! This all depends on the airport by you! You might even have Signature or AV Flight there also for the private side! Good Luck!
hello friend have been trying to join this team and work with them but all of my effort proves zero, please i need your sincere assistance on becoming Ranp agent in air canada please
@@wisdomemmanuel5580 Hi, Sure where are you located? Maybe I can send your name and email to our HR and refer you as my friend. Hopefully it can help you.
Y'all didn't even interview the guys at UNITED AIRLINES! SFO is an important domestic and international hub for United Airlines and is the gateway to the Asian and Pacific network. United Rampers are Union as well. But you guys choose to interview the outsourced rampers from Dnata and Swissport????
At lax position I applied like a month ago and yesterday I just passed all my paper work ect and us customs and border security access . Wondering if soon I will be called to train . Lady said she approved me and she notified the station for onboarding .🙏🏻💪🏻
@@guillermochoto1386 hey I have an offer for you to work with us If you want to earn a good amount of money while doing this job on daily basis you can earn upto $130 to $150 if interested please let me know and I am serious! It's not a scam or something
2:47 the fucking head of your company must have been your dad, no one gets supervisor after doing 1 month of ramp? seriously that's just not how it works?
LMAO. Way to go SFO! Thanks for posting to the general public our authorized only secured area where we all work. In todays world, videos like this have no business being posted on social media.
ya forgot managers can be a pain the back side.. when you are short staffed and they still demand on time departures, then act all stupid why it left late!! Ya can not turn a fully loaded 757 (all four bins stuffed) in fifty five minutes with 3 people! Or normally we had four turn arounds with 9 people, We were turning ANC and SEA on the corners, with 2 DC-9's in the middle gates just for fun.. something is not leaving on time! them toss in fity below winters (MSP), or torentual sideways rains, your are cold, wet and hungry, and something always hurts. boots full of water, your and your but is soaked thru... Physically demanding is an understatement! its more like getting your but handed to you most days!!! 12 Years I was down there, with 5 as a ramp chief.. Northwest MSP and LAX.. finished my career with delta .. but damn, I still miss it, and would go back in a hot minute, but its a young mans game! It was the Best job I ever had!!!
So you think it’s a job I should take??? The weather condition and hard work is nothing to me lol. I been through way worst. I’m just kind of scared to take that step
Its shit. Its all awesome and fun when your new to the job. But after 6 months you will start thinking that this job will get no where in life. But it is a better job than working at a fast food place.
xTeddy _ what do you mean by that , it's hard to move up ? Because I want to become a aircraft mechanic and I was thinking about get a job like just to see how is life around planes
the forestlizard same here bro. Im planning on becoming pilot but first I want to become a mechanic. Mechanic is completely different than working ramp.
xTeddy _ bad thinking. You need to start on the ground floor and pay your dues and show a work ethic, ability to work with others and with time comes promotions and salary increases. Too many people want to start at the top and refuse jobs that will get them there.
Me who works for Menzies Aviation in YXE, search up the weather, its like 8 months of winter and barely 3 months of summer, the temp goes down to -30C with windchill, thats like -50C, and the company provides you shitty clothings, I didnt even recieve a winter jacket, all I have is a rain coat, I got fed up and told the management the shit I'm dealing with and we get 13$/hr, which isnt bad in summer, but in winter... its a shitstorm, our employees have even asked if they could get any winter bonus like getting a bit more paid during winter season. But nope no response. I have applied for screening job at the airport, which is much better, its a inside job, nice uniform, less busy at this airport and more time to study for my pilot license.
it varies. for lowest pay is $14.~ hourly as of 2018 but managers could rack up $80k-100K annually. it's also depend on what company working for. look it up on jobs on flysfo.com
Minimum at most, but some companies include pay raise followed by union. Most importantly many new-hires are going to come and go, then the spot for supervisor will come and go.
Doug Mammaro the average hourly entry level start pay @ SFO is $17-$18 as of this this. It’s still low pay since living in the Bay Area is total rip off.
I work as ramp agent in Ostrava and here its VERY badly paid job and our airport is not taking care of our department, but only about marshals and security😏 Beautiful job but not in our country😄
