Lilia Greyeyes's day starts bright and early at Canada's National Ballet School. After a full set of courses, she heads straight to ballet class for another round of practice. But this is nothing new to the young student - she's been dancing since she was only two years old.
Clearly, the apple doesn't fall far from the tree: Lilia Greyeyes is the daughter of famed Canadian actor, director and choreographer Michael Greyeyes. He's also a Canada's National Ballet School alumnus. Lilia's mother, Nancy Greyeyes, is an award-winning dancer who's worked with ballets in Canada and the United States.

When I was about 5-7 years old, I took ballet, I was overweight, and the girls in my ballet class used bully me for it. So I quit class. I really regret quitting, so I am joining back soon. I’m super excited.

Omg we’re like the same! I am still overweight tho but I still take ballet lessons. I’m now in grade 6 but I am not selected to go for competitions because of my weight but my teacher said that I am doing great! ☺️ (Just happy that she complemented me :) ) Oh and i started going en pointe last year but I’m not doing great in it cuz for some reason my toes hurt.....I think I need thicker padding but I won’t be able to fit in my shoe if I do so.... sigh

J, I started ballet at 12 and before ballet I also did gymnastics. It’s never too late to start ballet 🩰. I’m now 13 and I personally think that the flexibility I had from gymnastics such as splits really helped me improve in ballet.

@J hey!I i know your comment is old but i had same problem as you (I am same age,was gymnastic and my flexibility was fading too)and I started by learning splits and be flexible again then i searched some ballet for beginners videos in RU-vid .I become flexible and can do elementary ballet and I will start ballet classes this year,so it's never to late if you want something ❤️(sorry for my bad English)

Im 14. I used to dance at the max fir 2 and half years activly. We didn't have the money for the classes anymore, but im considering to try and return to the world of ballet and horse riding.

Ive been doing dance since I was 3 but Im fat and all ballerinas are so skinny and beautiful and talented but I’m pretty sure Im good at dancing but yeah.

Same, and I feel bad sometimes bc it makes me feel like I'm not trying hard enough and I tried to lose weight, but i have very low metabolism so I can't lose weight easily and I have thick bones like my wrist bone is so much bigger than my friends and i don't know why and my muscles become very stiff quickly. Anyways I'm sorry for ranting haha

Oh my god same. I tried so hard to lose weight but my classmates are so skinny and when I stand with them I look soooo thick. I have low metabolism and it is so hard for me but I am trying until I will be happy with my body

:'( My mom won't let me achieve my dreams, yet her and her friends are complaining about me not doing anything with my life, even though my mom is the one who is holding me back, I try tell her that it's her but she isn't owning up :( It's not just that but everywhere I go to a group of people have to call me fat, and then everyone laughs *except school which I am actually popular, such a coincidence ;-;) even my siblings ridicule me and they both don't know that I take it to heart :'( I don't know what I can do anymore..I want to do something but I can't

Do what you want!!! And if your mom absolutely refuses to let you take classes then try being self taught...trust me it works you just have to believe in yourself. I have faith in you:)

My sister dances at a professional studio. It takes a lot from her. She is constantly stressed from the pressure and struggles from bad anxiety and panic attacks from it. I don’t know why she continues, because the life of a professional ballerina is not very promising. I wish she would quit so she’d be herself again.

I cam imagine why she keeps dancing. As some ballerinas say, ballet is euphoria and pain. It is hard.VERY hard. But it’s not having a premising job. It’s about having their dream and passion as their job. I guess It’s hard to see your loved ones being stressed and constantly ubder pressure but if she loves it so much and if she is passionate she will continues. Cause she loves it. I guess the love and passion for it is stronger than the pain. I hope she is doing fine no matter which path she choosed. I am sure What she accomplished is still beautiful and impressive.

February 25th, 2022 Reading on how people want ballet as their full time career even if it's not the most promising and is a lot of pain/dedication because of their passion for it makes me really happy :)) It's not my dream career but I would love to try it !!

Dance is wonderfull. I' ve always loved dancing. I dance something extremly similar to ballet. Our cultures folk dance is like ballet but the only diffrent thing is that we dont have point shoes but pastalas. They look like pointe shoes but they are 100 times more comfy. Also we dont stand on the tip on toes but on half on our foot.

My day is the same I go to palates from 7 to 8 then I have academy from 8 till 10 and then I have rehearsal until 12 and then I have a 10 minuet break and then I go to repertoire in till 4 and then I have show rehearsal until 6 and then I go to body break (fitness) until 7 then I have dinner and go to bed ( I’m at a boarding school)

I danced ballet since I was 5 and now I am 12, my ballet dancer is very sweet and will let me dance ballet, even tho I am close to be too high to be a ballet dancer :( And I need to get some special per of point shoes becouse I have a big foot xD But ballet is just.. It's me and I love it so im glad that I dance where I dance, thank you nicely ballet teachers

Me: In grade 2 nearly 3 does a posse turn. At home: tries a pirouette does one badly then does one again keeps trying. Me: finally does a full two turns at 10 yrs old :O

Nora McNabb journalists don’t care about technicalities. The vast majority of non dancers think that all ballet dancers are ballerinas, they just chose a title that would catch attention.

Wow In comments,many people had started ballet when they were like 13,14.... I am 13 but I am a Korean so I can't start ballet.. In Korea,when you are 13,You just need to do nothing but studying...There's no time to play or do something you like. You should just study for your life. I wish I had never born in korea...

How is she allowed to do pointe? She's my age, I doubt her feet have stopped growing.

Kaitlyn they don’t have to stop growing because you technically don’t stop growing until you’re 25. They just have to be strong enough so you don’t hurt yourself. Usually it’s smart to wait for a growth spurt around 12 or so. I personally don’t think any younger would be better but that’s just my opinion.😊

Kaitlyn your feet don't have to stop growing to go en pointe, you just start dancing en pointe when your feet are strong enough. By the time your pointe shoes are too small for you, they will have been dead for a long time😂
