I’ve been seeing a lot of chatter online about people thinking that the CDL upgrading to 16 teams is going to be better and I will happily disagree with that because it is not the same as making this league as open as possible like it used to be. COD really needs that international base back and that open format to grow.

he fought hard to claw optic gaming back from immortal only for the CDL to force a turnover of a large portion of optic to envy for league approval, in my opinion he's justified for being as upset as he is, the return of entry fees doesn't return the portion of optic that has been turned over to envy, the CDL update makes me question if optic and envy will split up if able and if teams do join the CDL how are they supposed to be competitive as the top teams don't seem to be changing

@@alexcarlone7967 you're missing the point. Huntsmen had the backing of NRG. OpTic LA had the backing of immortal. When H3CZ got OpTic back from immortal, NRG is gone, and the league wouldn't allow him to participate without a corporate backing. He sold ownership of his company and had to merge with Envy to get back in.

You might looking at this wrong. The lawsuit was probably a reaction of this. There’s no way this wasn’t in the works for awhile now and that Hecz is just now “randomly” finding out about it. He lost/sold OpTic for essentially no reason.

Formal's one of those guys that just listens, and rarely speaks... But then talks when he has a question or input on something, often tends to talk over whoever is talking, but they shut up knowing that he's talking and you should probably listen because he wont repeat himself and what he is saying is 99% important input. They never get mad that he talked over them though, because they know that his input was needed, valuable to the conversation, can continue the conversation/ pivot it to a new direction to talk more (ie: when he mentioned map names)

The main problem isn’t the new maps are bad the issue is with the movement speed, spawn systems, health and weapons they are all designed to make you rush until you die they need to slow the game down but they won’t

For those wondering - Hecz is annoyed because he had to give away 90% of OpTic to investors to raise the $25M buy in to the CDL. Now the business gets the money back - but the equity has already been given away. So he lost his business - and the investors basically got the equity for free

The whole article seems like a "sorry optic, please end the lawsuit" plea. They talk about viewership records like they played any part in it, lets talk about viewership records this season with their restrictions and switching platforms when the viewership was only growing. We went from having 4 streams simultaneously streaming matches friday-sunday to now having 6 games a week. We cant route for our favourite AM players or AM upsets because they dont make pool play and teams can win 4 matches for a champs ring. The whole league is a mess, The open bracket pool play system we had before needs to return.

There’s one reason and one reason only why call of duty pro scene is on life support and the CDl failed. HOPE …. With the CWL and MLG format there was a real world possibility that you and three friends could go and make a team and go to an event and win it all. Another reason if that monopolies in esports are awful you need leagues and event holders competing with one another it’s so healthy for the game.

It's tied to the fees. Hecz was "forced" to sell a majority stake in Optic to rivals Envy in order to show the league they had financial backing otherwise they couldn't get a spot - now that the fees are removed Hecz rushing to sell and giving up control was pointless. That's what he means saying he made certain business decisions because of the 27.5million, it is one of the main reasons they sued

I think the CDL shake up is going to introduce relegation and promotions from challengers to the CDL, so these smaller teams won't pay entry fee's, in turn the 2 year guarantee of revenue will mean these small organisations who earn promotions will be able to fund their required event once in that 2 year period. I think it's a way to blend challengers and the CDL with reward for winning and repercussions for the shit losing teams

i highly doubt they're gonna address it, but i would love to know why they dropped the Apex team. it seemed like they really didn't care for the Apex boys and only dropped them after not making ONE Lan. they came 2nd place at Champs last year and now after not making one Lan they get dropped? seems crazy to me, i just hope that trio gets on an org ://

Ngl giving the money back is good. I think they are also trying to incentivize new teams to come in as well as keep current teams and the objective is the temporarily hold the CDL until they can change it around is what it seems like. This sorta seems only good for the league even if its a temporary fix
