If this is true then what about the verses that say no one knows the day He will return. If the catching away is before the 7 yr Trib. then everyone would know the day Jesus is returning 7 yrs later. So this can't be true. No one knows the day except the Father.

However that is a covenant between Christ and the many for 7 years. Jesus died 3.5 years into his ministry. The Romans destroyed Jerusalem 3.5 years into the war. End of prophecy just like Jesus said.

HEAVENLY Father please give me strength. These past three years have been difficult on me and my children. The great tribulation is God’s judgment for all sins, the bride of Jesus will be rupture first, the loyal and vigilant virgins will not pass on it. I believe we will be raptured, and protected like every one in the bible, Noah, Lot and the children of Israel when God pours out His wrath. And when Jesus returns, i just dont see how that would be the time to meet Him. He's coming for a battle and to establish His millennial kingdom. If we, his followers, have to go through the tribulation, we would definitely get our heads chopped off for not taking the mark. I really like your sermons and can see the love for our Father that you have, but in this sermon there is something I do not agree with. I do believe that when you die, whether you knew Christ or not, you are asleep. How can you be with the Father before judgement day? Secondly you read the scripture that says that the dead in Christ will rise first and then we who are alive will meet up with them in the air?? I do believe that if you die you are asleep, which is how Jesus referred to Lazarus and the Word also says you are asleep and know nothing. I am sure if Martha and Lazarus were brought back from the presence of the Father they would have been very upset about it.... I know I would. I know scripture says to be absent from earth is to be present with the Father, because you are asleep and don't know how long you are asleep for, and when you are raised, you will be with Jesus, the same as when you go to bed at night and when you wake up.... the sun is shining. You have no idea how long you were asleep for. Am I wrong?
The thief in the night is the snatching away of the Bride, where only His Bride will see him in the air, and the beginning of the day of the Lord; the second coming is when He comes with His army of His Bride on the clouds, where every eye will see Him, and He steps on the Mount of Olives to set up His 1000 year reign. These are two different events: Rapture -- Seven Years Later -- Second Coming.
Reread your Bible. The event known as the rapture is the same as the resurrection. The dead in Christ rise first and those that are alive are caught up. The bema judgement Happens then. There’s not another Judgement, just the great white throne judgement for unbelievers.

The problem however with this verse serving as evidence for the rapture, is that it says that they will meet the Lord Jesus before he is coming or as he is coming, which is the second coming, but the proponents of the Rapture say that this will happen before the tribulation, which is way before the second coming
There's also the gathering of the elect by the angels that will take place at Jesus' second coming. What is that, is it also the same rapture? To me, it seems like separate events. One will be done by angels and the other by the Spirit of God. Believers will be caught up after being resurrected and will be taken directly to the Lord, and the other, they'll be gathered together from one end of heaven to the other end of heaven.

It's interesting in the verse after we are told about the six sons of Keturah in Genesis 25 we are told in verses 5+6 Abraham gave all he had to Issac and sent the others with gifts eastward. Pastor Driscoll wants the people of God to believe that 1 Thessalonians 4:16 is the rapture event that will take place at Jesus' second coming! if that's true, then, Mathew 24:31 has to be the same event since it will also happen at Jesus' second coming. FYI Pastor, the gathering together of the elect and the catching away of the Church will be separate events because one is going to be done by angels and the other by the Spirit of God. Scripture tells us in 1 Thessalonians 4:16 that the believers will be caught up and will be taken directly to the Lord by the Spirit of God... First, the resurrection from the dead, then, followed immediately by the Catching away of both the living and the dead in Christ... But the gathering together from one end of heaven to the other will be a completely different event done by angels... ...And you also believe that the Church will go through the tribulation, but, will be protected within.... This was a good message until you said that we are not Raptured until Jesus's second coming. Rapture = When Jesus descends from heaven to the clouds and we ascend up to the clouds to meet Him in the air: 1 Thessalonians 4:16-18 16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: 17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. 18 Wherefore comfort one another with these words. Second coming = Jesus once again descends from heaven and His feet shall stand upon the Mount of Olives: Zechariah 14:4 And his feet shall stand in that day upon the mount of Olives, which is before Jerusalem on the east, and the mount of Olives shall cleave in the midst thereof toward the east and toward the west, and there shall be a very great valley; and half of the mountain shall remove toward the north, and half of it toward the south. There is a difference.
Compare the passage you just quoted in thessalonians, to Matt 24 v30 v31. Jesus describes the same event, after the abomination of desolation, but before the second coming. You are correct about zechariah 14 4. The timing of the rapture is all about when God's wrath begins in the 7yrs tribulation. Yes Jesus opens the seals in Rev 6, but that is not God's wrath. The seals describe what's been happening on earth since Adam and Eve sinned in the garden. Compare the first 4 seals with the first 4 trumpets and bowls. The trumpets and bowls are God's wrath. If you will start reading in Rev 6 through chapter 7, you will see what life will be like just before we are raptured when Jesus opens the 6th seal. In chapter 7 John describes the raptured church. There is no pre tribulation rapture. The rapture doesn't happen at the end of the tribulation. It happens when Jesus says it will, some time after the antichrist is revealed, the abomination of desolation.

Right after the last trumpet but just before the first vial (bowl) was poured out.
I love how people swear by dispensationalism when essentially no one had that theological outlook or hermeneutic before it was invented in the 1800s. If the majority of evangelicals believe something, it's almost like Mark Twain's quote applies, "it's time to reevaluate." It's sad to see how Mark has fallen into this nonsense too. Written circa 52 A.D. to a church that was present in 52 A.D., this letter was not written to you. In every chapter Paul/Silvanus & Timotheus (authors) tell the church members that Christ is coming ch 1:10, 2:19,3:13,4:15-16,5:23. If you received a letter telling "you" that the Lord was coming 6 times what would you believe? Exactly. When our Lord was being led away to be crucified; Jesus turned to them, saying, “Daughters of Jerusalem, weep not for Me, but weep for yourselves and for your children. He returned in the first century and destroyed the temple in judgement fulfilling the law. Matthew 16:27-28 For the Son of man shall come in the glory of his Father with his angels; and then he shall reward every man according to his works. Verily I say unto you, There be some standing here, which shall not taste of death, till they see the Son of man coming in his kingdom. Daniel tells us Rome would be in power when the everlasting kingdom would be established: Daniel 2:44, 7:14, 9:24. Christ quoted from Daniel and told "them" (his audience to whom he was speaking) when "you" see the abomination, not us: When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand) The entirety of the New Testament authors all tell their immediate audience that Christ was coming, in their lifetime. Paul, John, James, Peter all say the same thing. Peter tells his audience they will witness the revelation, 1 Peter 1:13 Christ was sent in the last days, Hebrews 1:2 The "last" days were 2,000 years past. Peter said he was living in the last days, Acts 2. 1 Thessalonians 4:13-16 The word harpazo is used several times in scripture. It means to be caught/gather/taken, some scholars even insinuate a robbery connotation. So, who was the book of Thessalonians written to? A church When? circa 52 A.D. This letter was not written to you. It does not apply to you. You are not a member of the Church of Thessalonica. In chapter 4, the church members are obviously concerned about what has happened to their members who have already died, physically, verse 13. Why? Paul had already told them 4 times in this letter that Jesus Christ was coming. They were looking for him. In verse 14 Paul is telling them that God will also gather them, the ones who have already died physically. If you die a believer, where do you go to reside? Heaven This is your final abode. Where does Abraham, Isaac and Jacob live? Christ was sent to redeem/restore all things in heaven and the earth. Acts 3 And he shall send Jesus Christ, which before was preached unto you:21 Whom the heaven must receive until the times of restitution of all things, which God hath spoken by the mouth of all his holy prophets since the world began. Almost all of the prophets talked about the "last/latter" days, this is where the New Testament writers get their doctrine. The last days are defined as the "last days" of their covenant. The saints in heaven are not leaving their abode; they are simply included in the "gathering", which is the resurrection/restoration Paul preached. In verse 15 Paul tells this church, that they were going to "be alive", breathing, when the Lord returned. And obviously they would not precede, go before, the saints who physically died and were already in heaven. The gathering/resurrection/restoration was for all things in heaven and earth. Verse 16 the dead in Christ (a believer who physically died and is now residing in heaven) will be restored/resurrected/gathered first) Why? Christ was sent from heaven by his Father. If you live in heaven, then you obviously will participate in order first. Verse 17 then we which are alive and remain, we (these are breathing Thessalonian church members) Paul told "them" that they would see the coming of the Christ, 6 times in this letter. To "meet" the Lord. Just like harpazo has a meaning, this word meet is apantesis. What does this word infer to a first century person? This word is used for a formal meeting of a dignitary. Everyone in antiquity knew this word meant that a dignitary was coming to your city. They knew this meant that you would send out a welcoming party and usher that dignitary into your city, where they would remain. It never refers to someone coming to your city to get you and take you to a different location. The second coming/resurrection that Paul preached had nothing to do with physical bodies. The scriptures do teach about the "last days" and "latter days". Almost every prophet talks about the last days, which is defined by the prophets as the last days of their covenant. This covenant was called the Mt. Sinai/Mosaic covenant. Jesus Christ was born under this covenant, the law. This covenant was the "age" he was born under. Christ was sent by his Father to fulfill the law. Who did the law pertain to? Israel This is why Christ says: But he answered and said, I am not sent but unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel. Christ makes it very clear when he would return. He said: But when they persecute you in this city, flee ye into another: for verily I say unto you, Ye shall not have gone over the cities of Israel, till the Son of man be come. He said: Verily I say unto you, There be some standing here, which shall not taste of death, till they see the Son of man coming in his kingdom. He told the apostles/disciples to take the gospel of the kingdom of heaven to the known world. This was accomplished: Romans 10:18, 16:26, Colossians 1:23, now comes the end of the age. When the temple was destroyed this was the "last day" of the old covenant. The same last day Christ mentions 3 times in John 6. This is the revelation/resurrection of Jesus Christ. Every New Testament writer told their immediate audience they would witness the revelation of Jesus Christ. No one knows the day or hour. Until they are told. Revelation 1:1 The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave unto him, to shew unto his servants things which must shortly come to pass. This book was written circa 65 A.D. So, Jesus Christ has known about his imminent return for one thousand nine hundred and fifty-eight years. Let that sink in. What will happen to the earth after the second coming? He will cleanse the earth. When Jesus comes again, He will come in power and great glory. At that time the wicked will be destroyed. All things that are corrupt will be burned, and the earth will be cleansed by fire (see D&C 101:24-25).

The new covenant is repeated in Hebrews 8:10 & 10:16, this has been accomplished. The Jews tried to make Christ the King when he was on earth the first time, he refused.
