personally i’ve always been an advocate for zim smelling like hot glue. like, it’s not necessarily a bad smell, but you gotta admit no human kid smells like this.

i- i think he would smell like paste. he has to cover himself in paste so dib doesn't hit him with water, and he doesn't get rained on so- pretty sure he would just smell like paste.

Despite how much of a clean freak Zim is (him being a clean freak and all), I can’t imagine him smelling like anything pleasant. Given how much time he spends with his inventions and building machines, the only conclusion I can reach to is that he would smell of Oil and Corroded Batteries. On the days he doesn’t work though, he’d probably stink of unscented sanitiser or strong chemicals. He definitely would use more than just soap when he’s cleansing himself of Earth Germs Why did I spend this long writing about how I think Zim would smell like?

Since he and his species eat a lot of candy, I think he would smell like something sweet

I think zim would smell like peaches if you didnt open/bite them yet + a rusted penny smell. Zim in the movie would probably smell like a strawberry shortcake

the fact that latex and playdoe would also be my response but now that i think about it more in an educated way he would smell like what foil sounds like. i will not elaborate.

Id say zim smells like, probably like a cheap colone, trying to fit in to the humans with a knockoff perfume.

As the weird kid who keeps bugs as pets, I can say with absolute certainty, that Invader Zim smells like bugs - isopods to be exact. Isopods have a very distinct, earthy smell, especially when there's a lot of them in one place and as a bug keeper you know that smell probably very well. It's not unpleasant, just a little weird and it makes you think of bugs instantly. Invader Zim smells like a colony of isopods. Also, I am so glad I am not the only one who pondered about his smell.

Why do I just imagine he'd smell either like a cat, or something that has done nothing but cleaning?

Personally i believe zim smells like cleaning products, theyd be really strong on him given his aversion to germs. But under that, i believe irkens naturally smell like new tennis balls (wet pool shirt is also extremely acceptable)

Zim absolutely has a smell, and so does Dib (not the same smell). For some reason watching the show as a kid I would get these faint smells in my nose that I associated with the characters. It’s not a smell I have a name for, it’s just a Smell. And this didn’t happen with any other shows, either.

You know this specific smell when you walk into a public swimming pool and that chlorine hits your nose and you just know "Ahh, I'm in a swimming pool"? That. That is what he smells like.

I think Invader Zim smells very faintly of metal mixed with various cleaning supplies (kinda like the kind of perfume that when you enter its radius, it chokes you) but not enough to make you feel uneasy. My reasoning: He’s obsessed with cleanliness and is also down in his underground base, which has a lot of metals in it.

I can’t imagine Zim smelling like any natural earthy scent. I feel like he would smell very metallic, but I don’t think he’d smell like a food or plant. He also usually involves scent in his insults so I think he’d be very aware of his own scent and use some sort of perfume or something.

While I really like the thought of Zim smelling like strawberry milk, I think him smelling like latex and playdo or feet with melted cheese is probably closer to reality 😂 I personally think he'd smell like an old shirt. You know, those kinds of shirts that have been in your closet for ages, which is why they slightly smell of the wood from your closet and the other laundry in there. You'd wear these kinds of shirts at home to chill and maybe get them dirty or even slightly sweat in them, so that they smell of you now. It's not necessarily a bad scent, it's just the smell of an old, frequently used and worn shirt

THE WET POOL SHIRT ONE OMG It would smell like a bit of sweet perfume, chlorine water and wet fabric! Clean, sweet but still weirdly damp and savory. Only thing I could add to that is the light (or not so light) smell of glue and sugar (because I think that zim consuming sweets would influence his overall smell)

I think an Irken would smell like some mix of an electrical fire and cucumber juice. The smell that would come off would probably be so otherworldly and foreign that it could not possibly be described with words and hard to determine and whether or not it's a pleasant smell.

This is definitely a strange video, but oddly interesting. But I feel like he'd probably smell like that of dust/weird Urthy forest smell with a bit of sweetness to it? Considering the typical Irken diet. Maybe even syrup due to the waffles and such he eats. But I also imagine he's often smell uncomfortably like cleaning products since he is a germophobe.

I was thinking of this the other day I know what he smells like but it's very particular and ill need to smell things to find out what specifically. Without testing what the smell in my head is, I'm guessing it is: vinyl, wet storebought tofu, a brand new dollarstore sponge that just got wet for the first time, or plastic. Whatever of these it is, there is also a subtle hint of the smell of sweaty but odorless skin that is very clean and add a hint of wet flowerpot soil. All smells mentioned are very mild and unobtrusive but don't really smell like anything we'd be super familiar with (hence it's hard to tell which it is). I think his sweat might smell how i imagine battery acid does, (despite knowing it doesn't actually smell like that): spicy and acidic, like the scent of chili powder mixed with that lemonjuice/extract you buy at the store in a plastic lemon-shaped bottle. (Never ever drink those btw, they are hell).

This video is amazing. I love the little doodles. People are suggesting some good things (paste, latex, oil, ect.) , but personally, I think he smells like green stink bug. I wouldn't describe it as unpleasant, but it's a kinda weird bug-ee, leafy smell. And I mean, he kinda LOOKS like a bug, so I think it fits.

I have always thought he smelled minty but now that I watched this I could also agree that he could very possibly smell like cotton candy because of his all sugar diet lol 😂

I think I agree with slime, play-doh, and wet shirt the most. If I were to pick... Glue. The kind you get in school (Edible, even if unadvisable). Not unpleasant, but definitely weird.

I think it is likely that he would smell fairly strongly, because it has been shown that he has some very alien bodily substances on his skin. I would say he either smells musty, because that would make sense. However I think he could also smell like key lime pie, because ectoplasm smells faintly of limes. My favorite response is strawberry milk. I think he could smell like strawberry milk.

I feel like zim, would smell of fun dip because he likes it. He is a germaphobe so I doubt he would smell bad especially sense he tell dib he reeks a lot

Never thought about it, but with their high sugar diet honestly something sweet like artificial apple scent slime smell or cotton candy would make sense as a default for Irkens. Though I imagine between experiments and working on machines Zim probably has some chemical and oil smell as well. So I imagine Zim would probably smell like a bowl full of artificially sweetened candy and ice cream splashed with engine oil.

The wet wool. Is one idea. And, as far as i remember, he spent a lot of time at shool and in his base, with GIR. So..It will be a combination of metal, wafles, dust and something chemical, like floor cleaner or rubber. My spelling is great.

My first thought was glue and waffles, but it's covered with the smell of latex and leather with a sense of sanitizer. Strange mixture but now I need a candle with that smell, just to feel it... Edit: I've seen now some comments about Zim covering himself in paste and it looks like localisation for my country turned it into glue. Personally, I think he would smell like a lice repellent shampoo, since in one episode, there’s a lice outbreak in his school and he’s completely unaffected by it. Not only that, but his own skin was used to fight the giant lice creatures off.

Zim smells like glue or paste. It make sense because in the episode "The Wetting" Zim cover himself with glue protect him from water. The creator even said that he regularly cover himself in it so he won't get burned. The creator also said that he wished had a scene of Zim putting glue on before going outside. So glue or paste makes the most sense.
