@@lillygeneration you'll have to do a lot of work on your grammar for writing English and confidence while speaking or interacting in English. Then you're good to go. It's hard and you've to study and understand a lot of things that you might never thought you'll ever have to know about but if you work hard you'll make it. Best of luck.😊

Every subject is an ocean itself. who will go deeper only he/she will know about it. One who actually studies knows that there is a point when all branches of education mixes with one another. Everything is science and art. Only the purpose differentiate it. I'm now doing my masters in english. I take interest in literature ofcourse. I always get fluctuate with this- Could I make anything of it if I would've taken science stream. I don't think so. But I genuinely think that the standard of the syllabus of arts is unmeasured in compare to the science stream specially in secondary and higher secondary levels. you can see what a science student reads in higher secondary level and what an arts student & here the difference is.
TO GET THE BACKGROUND OF A PARTICULAR TEXT, YOU GOTTA READ ABOUT IT'S HISTORY, GEOGRAPHY, CULTURE, CUSTOMS, ETC ETC ETC. LIKE FOR EXAMPLE, PARTITION LITERATURE, YOU HAVE TO STUDY THE GEOGRAPHICAL ASPECT. ALSO WHEN YOU READ THE ELIZABETHAN CRISIS AND UNDER IT THE POEM "DOVER BEACH". ALSO WHEN YOU READ ROMANTICISM, YOU HAVE TO DEAL WITH NATURE AND IT'S FORCES IN A POETIC WAY.
May be you will not believe that i am in 5th semester but i haven't buy any books only passed with the help of Google and RU-vid...and first time i thought it'll be hard but now i realised that if i( Assamese medium) can then anyone can...❤️
😂 me here :- m the most laziest student 🥲 with poor english, have taken eng major, m from Bodoland university, idk wht and how to prepare for exm, 1st sem 🥲
@@HiYashika See most of the jobs after english honors are like teacher, professor, editor, writer etc so if you are not naturally inclined towards these things then I would suggest you to not pursue it because students who have command over english language would have an upper hand than students who don't. But if you can work on improving your grammar, vocabulary and reading then it may work for you. I hope this helps! 😊
do you think there are high paying career opportunities once you’re done with phd in english though? what if the degree turns out to be useless bro i’m genuinely so interested in literature and stuff but i feel like it’ll be too risky considering now that there’s AI…(asking as a 17 y/o)
@@tf.kaiiii Well it depends... I was confused too before choosing eng hons and I actually did attend 2-3 lectures in DU when a particular college got alloted to me but tbh I didn't find it interesting:( Now I am pursuing bba from ip university and I find it interesting enough but that's also because I am from a commerce background. And about jobs I do agree that the job isn't handed to you right after getting your degree in this sector. IT all depends on individual potential.
Absolutely, people think English Honours is just study of English language i.e. story, novels, drama etc. But it is English Literature. You have to understand the depth. Philosophy, Psychology, History, Politics, Economy, Society, Research papers, Greek, Latin, INDIAN, British, American, African all.... All in one. A four line poem can make you to read 100 of pages. It could an one line dialogue. Subject is really interesting, engaging & most of the time entertaining too. But YOU HAVE TO READ SO BADLY! BOOKS, PAPERS, NORES ALL... !
As an English Hons student....i can relate with all these things and the struggle of studying different things at the same time😊....but guys I better suggest you all that you should choose English Hons because it's very interesting to study and you will definitely find a bright future ahead
You sure? I am worried after watching her this video🙂 what scope is there after persuing English honours?? Please tell , i don't have anyone to guide me properly

Lol..same here.. I thought there would be only.. Poems, Story or Some grammar...but... Bro.. after taking English As a honours I can say... Nothing is easy.. If u r an average student...
whatever you said we have to study but only a little reference not in too deep in B.A, and I passed B.A without learning these all, but now in P.G I need to study all (repenting not studied in B.A). and i can say that if your English is good everything is very easy ,and compare to other subject its very easy .
Well this year i have completed my M.A. in English and i have completed my whole B.A and M.A through youtube . I haven't purchase any book during my 5 years ka degree courses and ofcourse i can relate through it

Yes they do read only novels etc .for passing exam but for deep knowledge all the points you discussed must be read out .but for passing honours, we only need(can only read ) to learnt about some writers ,some novels a little bit of what you discussed all just a little bit, you can say a drop of water from a glass.(but real syllabus is literally all that she discussed, even more and more )
This will be my next wholesome reply if anyone says science is better than english hons... Haha dumbos don't even know we have to study various science related things in English hons. Btw First year English hons student here. ✌️
@@ruoyunshenGuess you'll find it out yourself. Be serious from the very first semester. It's gonna be pretty tough as the year progresses :) Ps:- I'm from Calcutta University

well im in 12th.... and I've decided to do eng. hons. watching this short... i feel like.... its gonna be difficult but at the same time much more interesting :)
Dee I'm going to do BA in eng honors ✨💛........ Please tell me all the subject combinations ☺️...... And also give me some more confidence coz at this time I'm not sure that I'm ready to take English and also I'm not fluent in English🥺...... But English is my favorite subject........
I recommend not to take up literature unless you are a very brilliant, creative and out of the box thinker. It has not much real- life application of whatever is taught. And u know very well about our Education system.
Then there's interdisciplinary English too : Memory Studies Literary Mathematics. Computational Linguistics Film Studies Ludology Postcolonial Spatialities Translation Studies Gender Studies Disability Studies Medical Literature Avant-garde Art Folklore Critical Food Studies It all falls under English and Cultural studies
I am a History Honours std , we also study Shakespear's literature , garcia de montalvo , german , italian , English, french literature history, we are not study about wars and kings we study about mathematics, astrology, science, art ,architecture, etc 🙂 our History is not easy too 😶 and not too boaring
mam i have just enrolled myself into the english honors and after watching this video i want to ask that do we really have to study all the subjects that you've mentioned? economics, psychology, etc. i mean are those in syllabus of english honors (not that im scared im actually kinda excited but just want to confirm as those all are my areas of interest)?
We don't need to study all the subjects entirely. But partly, in accordance with the text you are studying ( if needed). Suppose the background, the then economic condition of Victorian England, did effect author to write any particular text. Then you hv to study little bit of history and economic condition to understand the text deeply.
OMG 😂 i know it's a great EMOOTIONAL bDAMAAGEEE 😂. Sorry but you let her down . You know what what is the most hard subject ? Ans emotions what we all students have to know that we sturggle about to know that 😂
Randomly found your this video and came to know that English honours is beyond literature stuffs. But with all due respect to every student and their hard work have a question for you. Is that hard work really pays off when it comes to get a relevant job? Again, no disrespect to anyone. Just asking due to curiosity because I never had a friend from Arts background.
@@somnathdeb3659 I guess a lawyer, advocate, journalists, translator, Spoken english coach, technical or content writer, hotel management. I think law is best after completing english honours. Once a famous lawyer said that law is about 65 percent english and 35 percent of common sense.
I think studying literature is the toughest and specially when it's in the international language....we gotta study hist, geo, pols, philo, science, language and ofcourse rhetoric and prosody and the best part is, it never ends. After finishing one novel there's another saying hii😭

For English hons, u can altogether neglect spoken but writing is something you hv to do quite a lot. And one yr is still a heck of time. You can definitely.
And here in physics we relate so quantum mechanics, classical mechanics, electrodynamics, statical mechanics, special and general relativity... and many more
