Wow that hairstyle suits you to perfection😍 I think the 30’s fashion is really overlooked and underrated! I’ve really want to dabble in the 30’s after seeing all these neat examples you showed!

Oh I am so glad I peaked your interest in the era! I think it is overshadowed by the (often horribly stereotyped) 1920s.

Thankyou for this; I adore 1930s styles but they seem a little harder to find than 1940s and 50s items. The 1930s were the peak of the Golden Age of tango, and as a tango dancer I find myself increasingly drawn to the clothing and hairstyles of that era. It's so lovely to see you rocking the whole 1930s look and looking so fresh and youthful at the same time; I am afraid that when I try to do that I just look like an elderly amateur theatrical wearing a costume in an Agatha Christie play. (Or as an older woman, that I am stuck trying to relive the halcyon days of my youth. 😅 ) You have inspired me to keep trying though!

This was incredibly informative since I'm trying to dress 30s-40s, and because here in brazil there isn't 30s/40s true vintage clothes or reproduction brands, I'm struggling to train my eyes to identify in modern stores any sort of a good vintage inspiration like the elements you've spoken in the video. Thank you ♡

eBay is also really good. Not sure what the postage is from US to Brazil but there are some real bargains to be found. I'm sure you can find some modern or thrifted clothing that will pass as vintage too! Good luck!

I wear 1930s style a lot as I live in a city that was rebuilt in the early 1930s after a devastating earthquake. You missed out on the knitwear. Handknitted garments were not a big thing until the 1930s and I suppose because of the Depression, more women had to make their clothes. I've made many garments from the 1930s knitting patterns including swimsuits and an evening gown. I'd love a tutorial on the 1930s eyebrow. There are many tutorials but they are quite vague. I know it is arched but is is above the natural brow?

I am quite sure to have you heard saying that Dior was a famous designer of the thirties ,which seems quite impossible to me, as he made his first collection in 1947 (the New Look, originally called "ligne corolle"). EDIT: he indeed worked for other houses, where his designs became famous, I was mistakenly thinking you mentioned only independent designers. I love your video, I think it gives a really interesting insight into 1930s fashion, and it is well researched
@MissBeeTownsend

He made his first independent design in 1947. Before that he was a much requested designer working for other fashion houses. Xxx

Yes, you are right! I just thought you were mentioning only independent designers, who are usually best known to the public. I'm really sorry
@MissBeeTownsend
@MissBeeTownsend 4 года назад
No need to apologize! I should have clarified better in the video. Anyone who doesn't know the intricacies would assume I was saying Dior was a big name designer by that point. I should have said he was designing for Piguet (the pics were of dresses for Piguet's fashion house but by by Dior). Nothing wrong with some clarification and constructive criticism.

Am I the only one that looks at others dressed vintage (even if it’s reproduction clothes) and think wow they look sooo genuinely vintage, like right out of a vintage advertisement, but then when they dress vintage they feel they don’t look genuine, or “vintage enough” if that makes sense? I just started dressing vintage, and I sometimes still wear modern clothes here and there (like quick runs to the gas station or grocery store where I don’t feel like getting stared at). I’m not sure if this is something others have experienced
@MissBeeTownsend
@MissBeeTownsend 4 года назад
Absolutely! I think it's the same comparison trap we all fall into, regardless of the context. All I can say is wear what makes you happy! There's no right or wrong way to do it. But, yes, I definitely feel this way looking at other vintage dressers, and plenty of other people have told me the same thing xx

Miss Bee Townsend's Vintage Tips & Tricks okay! Strangely makes me feel better! I thought I was all alone in feeling this way. This is what probably fuels the vintage obsession, like the next thing will make me feel vintage enough 😂
