A must-read booklet is, "Christianity in India: The Hindutva Perspective" by Ashok V. Chowgule. For a scholar's account of destruction of pre-Christian religions, see Catherine Nixey's "The Darkening Age: The Christian Destruction of the Classical World". Every single continent was converted in a very short time-scale to either Christianity or Islam. India is the lone exception. The answer lies in the unlikeliest of places: the caste system! For all the revulsion it has evoked, it is what saved India from wholesale conversion. I don't, even for a second, subscribe to caste-based discrimination. However, to think that the caste system's only aspect was discrimination would be to miss its features that never get discussed. The views of the French missionary Abbe Dubois on the caste system are worth reading; such views, if expressed today, woud evoke severe condemnation. Let me reiterate what I had said earlier: I do *not* , even for one second, justify caste-based discrimination. I am an agnostic person. This is an interesting talk with predictable responses from the listeners. The practicing Christians and those believing in the Bible as God's word should ask the following questions. (1) When and where was Jesus born. The answer depends on which Gospel you read. The Gospel of Mathew and Gospel of Luke differ from one another. (2) The Gospel of Mark has no Resurrection. (3) When was Jesus crucified. Again the Gospels differ from one another. (4) Who killed Jesus. The later additions of the Bible artfully blame the Jews, but Crucifixion is a uniquely Roman punishment. When Pontius Pilate absolved himself and Jesus of any crime, why was he crucified instead of stoning to death like Stephen? (5) Where and whom did Jesus meet after the resurrection. Again the Gospels differ from one another. Why are there so many discrepancies in one Book? Because humans wrote the books to propagate a theological view. John Mill (c. 1645 - 23 June 1707) noted for his critical edition of the Greek New Testament included notes on over thirty-thousand variant readings in the manuscripts of the New Testament.

I just finished reading the biography of Francis Xavier by Coleridge. Xavier's view about other religions was so bad, that Xavier himself looked like a Devil, trying to destroy them and establish his (Roman Catholic) rule. Whatever little admiration I had for Xavier, have just vanished.

These are highly informative and enlightening talks to demolish the myth of Abrahmic belief based religions. Please conduct these episodes in Hindi as well as regional languages so that the knowledge can penetrate into a majority of Indians. English talks can be helpful only for a very few.

You forgot to mention that early Christians were targetted by Jews and Romans and later Christians by Muslims. Race based slavery was followed in the Americas (where even white slaves existed earlier). British atrocities in India were not based on Christianity. In India, skin color is still used to discriminate against people especially Dravidians, Adivasis and lower castes. Even marriage advertisements post independence indicate that skin color is important. Human sacrifice, female foeticide, bride/wife burning and caste discrimination are hindu traditions. What historical proofs does Hinduism have, other than mythology? How do foreigners fit into hindu system? Who is a Hindu? Hindu was a term given by foreigners to people living in south Asia. It wasn't a term for any religious beliefs.

The absolutism, the dogmatism, the parochialism and the inability to coexist with other ideas are not a monopoly of Christianity but afflict the whole Semitic spectrum of religions, with real or claimed Revelation providing them their main source of authority.

This is my two cents worth about Abrahamic religions. There is a book with chapters from the first chapter to the last chapter, just like all chapters there are paragraphs, the last paragraph of the last chapter has the last sentence and then a FULL STOP! After that everything stops there, the moment the ink dries, it ends. And that is how religion should end at the full stop because it remains only at that period of the civilisation suited for that era. The Hindu Dharma and the Buddhist Dharma with Samsara, (both are a way of life and not religions) have no difference since there is no ending but lives on with civilisation cycles. Even when everything ends, the Dharma waits for the new beginning. Hence the Eternal Laws for Humanity is supreme. It is good educate yourselves to know all there is to know about what Abrahamic religions say BUT WHAT ABOUT THE TEACHINGS ON YOUR BELIEFS SYSTEM and how do you conclude? After viewing Adamaru Matha episode titled Treatment of Hindu Dharma by the Supreme Court, a speech delivered by Sai J Deepak, it occured to me that there is a lack of concern and understanding in subject on the Dharma.

There is immense similarity bn Christianity and Islam. No wonder they are both Abrahamical. Both of them talk of 1 God. Both of them call others Kafirs or Demonic. Both of them don't want to co exists with others. Having studied in a convent school, I can attest to the fact how much hatered they had for Indian cultures and customers such as applying Henna, or wearing rudraxh or even wearing kalava/ rakhee etc. I have been seeing talks on Islam, Christianity and all have so many similarity.

Having read the bible 5 times cover to cover page by page ..The major reason what I find the bible and christians MOST horrific was NOT just its scientific ,historic and many other contradictions BUT is over emphasis on "Forgive your enemy or else God will not forgive you" ..This is one of the biggest abusive things u can ever say to someone who had been raped ,abused brutally ..Imagine if someone were seriously raped with NO fault of her But actually reads bible and tells christians her life horrifying incident .,instead of having even a LITTLE empathy towards what happened to that rape victim and consoling the victim .quoting from the matthew chapter "for if u dont forgive men their tresspssers neither will God forgive yours " And the worst thing is jesus himself using parables in matthew chapter and saying he will allow many demons to torment you if u dont forgive anyone is what a sick person will tell you ..Almost all christians who I met dont even care what u went through and have no compassion of that BUT will immediately quote this "Forgive the abuser and pray for the abuser so that he will be blessed by the lord else hell is waiting for you" ..They were like dont even think about it and forget the abuser as if anything happened ...How worst of a biggest abusive religion christianity is .. Although nothing happened to me of tat and I just quoted a fake incident of such ,,THis was the exact response i received from every christians ..They were harassing me the (fake) victim and NOT telling anything of that rapist ...They were saying "how much god forgave you of all your sins then why cannot u forgive this person of only this one sin?"...If you dont forgive you will go to hell " and were quoting the same matthew chapter 18 and harassing me and saying if i dont obey anything in this matthew chapter 18 I am going to hell ..Christianity by having such a toxic love actually encourages evil people to be more evil ..This was just a fake incident .I could ONLY imagine how will they harass a real victim of a church who had really gone through one such trauma .NO emphasis on the abuser BUT only harassing the abused more and more ..This religion will definetely create mental traumas in people ...Christianity do NOT condemn such evil abuser BUT keeps inflicting and harassing the victim or the abused..Biggest BS religion ..

I have come across a kid complaint they were forced to call teachers as father ,miss..and made to sing many Christian prayers different for 7 days of a week, Not much holidays for festivals...I think children who are orphans call their caretaker as Father.

Explained so well, not only about Christianity also about Hinduism and it's all encompassing view so inculcated in each of us Hindus. It is quiet a task to put in a capsule and put across to our adult children to perhaps enable them to introduce this point of view into the upbringing of our grandchildren. There is a loby which says that during the missing years of Jesus he came to India, he traveled to nepal and in the buddist literature there is a mention of him visiting there. They take credit saying that the knowledge that he possessed is a gift from india. By saying that what they proove is that Jesus is a historical person. By glorifying indian culture they imply his existence 2000 years ago. Another loby like you are saying that jesus is not a historical person. Now both of you sit together and decide one thing, in which way you want to defame Christianity and disproove the power of Jesus. The politicians of today are of your category, going to any extent to win election. Defame somebody, character assasinate, bring the person down just to proove your point.

The traders who came to India through the middle East have taken back with them the stories in the puranas and ithihasas. There I would like to point out 3 things. Karna's birth, born to Virgin Kunti who abandoned the child for fear of scandal. Next, Krishna's birth - Vasudeva carried the child across the Turblant river Yamuna and replaced the child of Nanda/Yashoda and Yamuna river opened up and gave him passage. The third one is Matsya avtar where the Pandya King and many people and animals were transported by a ship which was navigated by Lord Vishnu in the form of a Big Fish. All the three stories which are more than five thousand years old were heard by the travellers from middle East and carried back in twisted form as perhaps they didnot carry the original text. All the three are found in Abrahamic religions.

If you have taken reference of Jesus' words calling Jews the children of Satan (devil) just by reading 1 sentence you are giving an incomplete context. Do not quote the Bible if you have not read it. Whatever was done by Christians back then it was the Humans who missed the message of Christ. Hitler was not slightest a follower of Christ and had a political motive. Please a humble request do not spread misinformation. You can't claim what is written in the Bible by reading books other than th Bible. You are a very misinformed person, spreading a wrong message.

Wonderful talk. Came to know about a lot of details. However, more could have been mentioned about the spiritual differences between Hindu dharma and Christianity. For example, in Hinduism every living being ( in fact even non living beings like rivers, mountains etc.) is respected and given importance, the truth and importance of which the world discovers only now when faced with environmental issues. Christianity believes the whole world is created for mankind. Hinduism believes the whole world is one family and it believes in harmony among not only mankind but with nature. Many more can be added.

You have covered the origins of Christianity and its spread across the continents quite well. You also give that as main reason for Hindus not to accept Christianity. You seem to overlook the inherent flaw within Hinduism as practised in India that is the Caste system which made the lower castes convert to Christianity. Unless Hinduism reforms itself and gets rid of all the acquired baggage, Christianity will be poaching on its disadvantaged followers.
