Sadhu sadhu sadhu. I am so grateful for your teachings Ajahn Martin. I love the one with the horse riding metaphor. And this one on sati (and samadhi) is my absolute favorite! So concrete on what to do! So motivational on why to do it! Sadhu sadhu sadhu

danke für die Anregung, beim Gehen den Vorsatz für die eine Bahn zu fassen und am Ende zu prüfen, wie gut das Gewahrsein war. Sehr hilfreich!

Without sati your mind will be blur blurr and lazynes will come in. When your mind get calm it is sati. During sati has arise clear comprehention can be accomplished. When mind gets calm sati is said to has developed and your awareness become sharp and hindrances weaken. Mind become bright awake and clear. Your breath become easy to be observed. Sampanjanna is now possible that will leads to clearly seeing the 4 foundation of mindfulness and to sangkhara upeka, the 11 vipasanna nana.So sati is simply meaning to gets the mind to become calm or quiet so as to progress to vipasanna higher nana. Suki hotu. BUDDHAM SARANAM GACCHAMI BUDDHAM SARANAM GACCHAMI

It's what ajahn Brahm calls "empowered sati" (i.e. empowered by samadhi / jhanas) 🙏

Buddhism is the only religion that teaches about this mindfulness and awareness practice. Being fully aware and alive at the present moment, and knowing everything inside our mind and the body. Other religions are all dogma about believing in some deities to bring salvation or getting punished in eternal hell, which is pure blind faith. The Buddha offered this teaching to be proved within by any wise people, and allowed to be questioned any time. Not just blindly believing by faith.

Ajahn Martin 's Dhamma talks are wonderful ... the 'yeah' after every sentence is very disturbing to concentration... is he aware of this nervous habit? It usually happens to people with an idea that they are not going to be heard, so they overcompensate by replying to their own words, yet it apoears they are demanding the receiver respond, but Ajahn's eyes are closed here unlike other talks so ...

Depends. That yeah yeah sound makes me nostalgic of a grandfather figure... who keep talking softly, gently encourage younger people to do something. Otherwise, it might sounds too harsh... In any case, one cannot deny alot of early boomers in their 60s / 70s do speak like that.

Dear Ajahn Martin, i have been watching your dhamma talks for past week. Thank you for putting out your teachings for people interested in Dhamma to access remotely. As of now, Sati seems to be quite confusing for me. From my understanding, there is strong correlation between Samedhi and Sati, where we focus on one phenomenon (buddho or breath). What gets confusing is investigation of Kilesas or emptying out of the heart because isnt this investigation a distraction on Samedhi? Im currently thinking that as new practioner of meditation. One should focus solely on Samedhi first to build up on the concentration or determination as you mentioned, before doing the investigation or vipassana. Am i right to say that? Another question, what if the mind constantly calls for this investigation then should i allow my mind to do this naturally or force myself to master the samedhi first?
