Gitana, Geoff Castellucci Sixteen Tons was very good. But you may like to hear the Tennessee Ernie Ford version because to me that you could feel almost Tennessee Ernie Ford's soul pouring out as he sing the song. The question about if its was always had been about coal? Yes, its always had been about coal.
Great reaction, and if you haven’t already, you really should hear Tennessee Ernie Ford’s original. My Mom used to say he had the deepest voice she ever heard. She never heard Geoff. And definitely check out Geoff’s High and Dry. Also, pretty much anything by Voiceplay, and there’s a new group if you like deep voices. Check out The Bass Gang’s Cover of Therefore I am by Billie Eilish. It’s awesome.
Tennessee Ernie Ford was a popular Country entertainer from the 40's and 50's, and made the transition to TV entertainer. This was one of his more famous hits. He had a great bass voice, and you should check him out.
Married into that Ford family..from where he was originally from all I can say is he did right in my experiences by his aunt's auncles cousins etc. And obviously I loved the man's abilities
Sorry G! I can't believe no-one has sent you any Voiceplay to react to before. Geoff is an amazing singer and a good friend of Tim from Home Free. It was Tim who taught Geoff how to do the sub harmonic low notes. Their latest song is Mu Mother Told Me which was used in the series Vikings ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-bs4ZJpWJh_Q.html Get ready to be inundated with Voiceplay and Geoff content lol
Ya, I just assumed the same, and I even thought she had reacted to Mr. Oogie Boogie before. Obviously, I watch too many reaction videos. Sorry Gitana, please forgive me, you are not the only reactor I watch, but you will always be the best reactor in my heart.
Geoff actually has a 5 octave range. This was the first song I ever heard him sing because I love Tennessee Ernie Ford. I remember seeing him on I Love Lucy reruns. I'm not that old yet. Anyway, I didn't know who Geoff was or Voiceplay. I actually thought it was quadruplets at first and about choked. I can honestly say he and Voiceplay became my obsession. I have watched every video they have come out with and they only get better. Goeff's Take Me Home Country Roads is fantastic and I didn't even like John Denver's version. If you get the chance you should really react to Geoffs cover of the Headless Horseman and anything by Voiceplay. The Oogie Boogie Song has Geoff as lead singer and really shows off his range but all of the groups songs are great.
Geoff is the bass for Voiceplay. He has released several solo videos too. I definitely think that you will enjoy both. They are all extremely talented. Oogie Boogie is a great Voiceplay video that features Geoff. You get to experience his full vocal range.
I’ve been married nearly forty years. But I’m HUMAN. I’m sure I’m not alone- Geoff is HOT, HOT, HOT. FOUR GEOFFS?? Oh, my.... of course. He’s been married himself for nearly fifteen years!! I’m a red-blooded female, and I’m not dead!! Geoff is the bass for acapella group, VOICEPLAY.
You don't hear bass singers for years, and now they're falling from the sky. All really good, too! Please do Voice Play’s “Oogie Boogie’s Song”, from the “Nightmare Before Christmas”. They all are great, but Jeff shines.
I think they all shine really well in this. Of course Geoff is phenomenal, that goes without saying. But the rest of the members are such amazing talents. The group as it was in Oogie Boogie song Earl Elkins Jr. | Tenor 1 Eli Jacobson | Tenor 2 J.None | Baritone Geoff Castellucci | Bass Layne Stein | Drums Earl has left and they use a guest tenor for now, and J-None just left But you will really enjoy this group,
Hello Half Pint! Hope everyone is enjoying their day so far! The only version I know was done by Tennessee Ernie Ford! This guy does a good job at covering the song, but I think you should still do the one done by Tennessee Ernie Ford! Wouldn't mind seeing something else by him, much love & positivity Half Pint & GITANO'S!!!💙💞💙
@@Mark_MOORE_VFL I am. I loved his music. Used to watch his TV show in the 60s. He was a great singer and a genuinely nice person by all accounts. This song was one of the tunes I learned as a teen learning guitar.
Check Geoff out doing "Blackbird". Another take a look at "16 Tons" with ZZ Top and Jeff Beck and while they are doing it on stage Tennesse Ernie Ford is in the background on a giant video screen.
Definately do Oogie Boogie next it will blow your mind This is the original by Tennessee Ernie Ford x ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-RRh0QiXyZSk.html
Even the high notes in this song are him. I don't know if you prefer to do seasonal songs only in the season, but in addition to "Oogie Boogie's Song", Voiceplay also covered "You're A Mean One, Mr. Grinch", and "Grim, Grinning Ghosts". Geoff covered "The Headless Horseman", and recently "Take Me Home, Country Roads". Voiceplay also has a great collaboration with MANY other a capella artists: "Just Sing". If/when you do that one, be sure you have the captions turned on. They included information about who everyone is (as well as some rather snarky remarks). Oh! You should also check out their cover of "Daddy Sang Bass".
I remember listening to Tennessee Ernie Ford was I was a kid in the 60's. I would love to hear your reaction to his version of 16 Tons. This was the song that made him famous.
You would love his cover of the beatles song "Blackbird"... Again he is his own accapella group..... And you thought he went low here.... Just you wait, lol
This one is Great, but you need to hear him do "Bear Necessities" & "Mele Kalikimaka /with the American Sirens" but what made the Internet Scream was "Oogie Boogie Song" with Voice Play. (and it's Tennessee ERN-EE Ford) 16 Tons was a huge hit for him back in the 40's, along with "The Shotgun Boogie". If you ever watched the old Black and White I Love Lucy reruns he had a recurring character called Cousin Ernie. He was also known for his singing of Gospel songs. Keep up the good work, Delightful as always.
WOW! I could've sworn that you'd already done Oogie Boogie, but apparently not. Others to check out by Voiceplay are "Warriors" and their original called "Just Sing" (make sure you have the captions on for this one though, trust me it'll help a LOT). Also Geoff has several solo tracks and I recommend "Blackbird" and "the Headless Horseman".
OK. Geoff is off the scale. Love all his work. But something a little different. How about a first reaction to any of Colm MacGuiness, a staggering vocalist and musician. For me it's so difficult to pick a best song to listen to. But try this. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-SDAeVH8O9D8.html This guy in my opinion is phenomenal.
The Tennessee Ernie Ford version is enough different that I'd love to see you react to it as well. For a different Tennessee Ernie Ford song, I'd suggest Mr. and Mississippi.
That's right. He goes deeper. Do voiceplay "oogie boogie song" and you will see. But then keep on right on to voiceplay "my mother told me". It's their newest. Feel free to stop by "the little mermaid medley" on the way, but make sure you go do "my mother told me".
Tennessee Ernie Ford is the first singer I ever heard sing the song and that was 65 years ago it was a hit for a long time not sure if he wrote it or not ??
welcome to the voiceplay rabbit hole! you've heard somee of geoff's arrangements, he's good friends with tim foust and did the arrangement for home free's elvira! if you want to hear sustained lows from geoff check out voiceplay's recent release My mother told me, fantastic! my favorite group is still home free ( i have tickets for october😍) but voiceplay is a very close second. their theatricality is awesome, check out their little mermaid or moana medley, a lot of fun. Happy Mother's Day!
hi Giitana from Montana this song was originally done by Ernie T Ford this artist is there a great job this iconic song but I recommend you look up the original by Ernest T Ford 16 ton
By the way, Home Free just released a video and cooperation with Billy Gilman titled One Voice that is speaking out for national suicide prevention month which May is. You cannot watch this without crying!😭😭😭😭😭😭👌
If you want to see what Geoff Castellucci can really do you should listen to his version of "Blackbird", which was originally sung by "The Beatles". He layers five different octaves (he harmonizes with himself). And the song is absolutely beautiful.
Hey, glad to see you are finally getting to know a member of voiceplay I told you, you would love them... do oogie boogie...:P also if you want another of just him his headless horseman song is insane as well...
The original gives you chills, it's Tennessee Ernie Ford and I remember hearing that when I was little at my grandma's house along with Randy Travis and Merle Haggard
Glad you are back that was definitely a nice old song I remember hearing decades ago that has stuck and still speaks to the hell that exists in corporations. It would be awesome if you would check out ALPHA STREAM - Tim Storms - Lonesome Road Tim Storms goes real deep in this one.
Voiceplay and Home Free together in Zombies vs Hillbillies. They were on the same season of the singoff. Tim does a cameo Just Sing and Rob joins them in there Movie Soundtrack medley. Most Home Free fans love Voice Play as well
Geoff's covers of The Bare Neccessities, The Headless Horseman and Take Me Home, Country Roads are all amazing. He sings lead vocal with his group VoicePlay in Oogie Boogie Song.
How appropriate to have your "Toys "R" Us" Geoffrey the Giraffe pillow listening to 16 Tons, performed by Geoff Castelucci. Them thar Geofferys form a pretty tight bond. Also, yes I would very much appreciate you reviewing 16 Tons by Tennessee Ernie Ford, along with many others, such as Peace it the Valley, In the Garden, The Old Rugged Cross, along with many more. I admired him for many years, My Dad had a television repair shop, where he also sold Televisions and record players. As Stereo was brand new at that time, my Dad would play Stereo records by TEF, Herb Alpert and the Tijuana Brass, and the Country Music album by Ray Charles. This was back in the early 60'sso obviously I am as my daughter describes me "Older than dirt."
