One Of The WORST LEAGUES In Terms Of Player Retention Is Path Of Exile 3.24 Necropolis, But How The Devs Can Avoid Similar Mistakes In The Future? #poe SUBSCRIBE AND LIKE THE VIDEO, YOU'RE THE BEST!
They should add a league mechanic that's simple like breach, ritual, legion, delirium, etc. They need to stop overthinking things. The game's complicated and deep enough as it is, and that's a good thing.
I agree, and Idk if I'm the only one but I don't like when they add too difficult stuff like t17 or even maven and etc too, I really enjoyed 3.7 and 3.8 league for example, because the game was simpler and easier.
Necropolis league was Kalandra 2.0. Same storyless base, a crafting mechanism to carry it and archnemesis light with the lantern bonuses on monsters - random damage amplifications with usually no reward bonus. meanwhile allflames literally just showered currency on those who found them. The corpse crafting was utterly stupid and tedious. Yes sure you could make good items more or less deterministically but holy hell do they really think that this game is about making recipes in excel sheets then copy them after delving the market for 2 hours? Literally everything about this league was ridiculous or just plain tedious bad and bland. O yea and the free MTX also sucked big time especially in comparison to the nightshade one. So not even that didn't prove much of a driving force for anyone.
Necropolis is great. It needs some serious qol. Corpses should have just dropped as an item like an incubator so you could filter them with your item filter. They also need to add a grave UI like all the tools people made
@@metaslavegaming9075 my skill level is low but my knowledge level is high. I've been playing since beta. I just have bad reactions. I play SSF so the week one whack a mole patching didn't effect my game all that much. The all flames and the modifiers and stuff are fun. The crafting is incredibly powerful but also stupid tedious. Over all I'm having a fun time this league.
@@xXVintersorgXx yeah l ike most systems they do. they make it half done and make the community create tools to make it even remotely workable and useable.
@@DaveGreco XD too accurate. Either way I've been having a good time this league in SSF. A lot less fomo with the patches and I've made a couple of absolutely cracked items.
i think with 3.25 they should add portals to other planets and u can trade with npc on those planets but you need to enter the same portal like 1'000 times and then u get a boss or get a trader that with another 0.00001% gives you 3 bonus arrows. oh and you can only do it with mirror tier gear you have farm on t16 where nothing drops. unless ofc you play in the first few days before bots get there. and if you want to do a uber boss run char? ..now? well we made new boss tokens that only drop from the bosses in the portal each 1000 runs....but no we did not make uber bosses drop stuff more often so if u want an omniscience be ready to do 15000 portals.... at least....
You said it and it is important to repeat: GGG tries new things. I want them to try crazy things. Sometimes it will not hit the mark and it is fixable with patches, sometimes it is a bust. Trying things gave us the Atlas, the Atlas tree, Delirium, etc… Having said that, I think GGG is making the same mistake leagues after leagues: The destruction of builds to “shake up” the meta. They “force” the “casual” player that is 70-80% of their base to start almost from scratch each league. I am no casual, I reach 38-40 challenges each league, but I see my friend list shrinking each league even if I add some each league. The comment from them quitting is almost always the same: My build that I enjoyed got killed and I could not find one (fast enough) to make me enjoy the game begore quitting.
As per the other melee guys - give it some love. Apart from some boring boneshatter builds every other melee class is strength stacking with chaos/spell damage - that is not a tradition melee tank - you've got a big ass marauder pinging spell damage, lmao. They need to really buff slam skills and brutality needs a huge buff since if you then go flat you can't really do reflective unless you're a Slayer. Meanwhile you've got 17k ES shield tricksters face tanking everything in the game... it makes NO fugging sense. It's like the GGG staff just hate melee for some random reason. They should add a few new strength gems too, wouldnt be hard to have some good new, FUN melee skills ice crash/earthquake same same, ground slam and earth shatter - same same, it's like they just don't care. In terms of league mechanics - just add something that ALSO has fun, interactive mechs that you can level with from the very first instance and not just "end game" levelling is boring as hell even when done in 5 hours. Give us something!
i'd like to see them update uniques in 3.25. There's a TON of housekeeping they need to do to this game without introducing more garbage necropolis league crap.
I like Necropolis. The Allflames are interesting and the crafting is neat. Needs a massive UI overhaul and to be optional. GGG needs to realize that crappy UI does not make the game harder it just makes it crappier. Stash tabs are fine but they extend crappy UI to everything. Killing Metamorph for Ultimatum was ludicrous. I find Ultimatum some of the worst content in the entire game and Metamorph was fun. All of this is from a SSF viewpoint. If you measure the game in currency/hour then you see everything different than me.
For me it was plenty off problems whit this legue all clicking on corpses the graveyard managment mindlegue nerfs also the droprate on non shity scarabs felt kinda bad aswell also this crazy t17 meta was in my opinion boring.
What is crazy is that this league has been awesome for me. I did everything I've failed to do in other leagues, with the exception of Uber Bosses (which I will still do next week). I even got a mageblood two days ago. It was awesome and I'm not really sure why people stopped playing. The mechanic was boring though, but the base game is super solid. Love the scarab rework and the additional Atlas Trees.
>I'm not really sure why people stopped playing. * Allflame/Mapping mechanic was volatile, and also made every map slower to run * Corpse crafting was tedious, slow, boring, AND overpowered. * the "Alch and Go" mapping playstyle was destroyed with the scarab rework. * Moving certain drops over to be uber-boss exclusive the ability for a lot of players to farm those items themselves. If your build requires those items to get online, this was a hard stopping point for build progression. * The high-yield strategies that existed for 12 hours and then were patched out of existence ruined the economy, unless you were permanently online and playing the game like a day trader, constantly scanning for a new broken strategy to exploit. * T17 Maps were harder than ubers for the first month, and even getting reworked, the volatility of certain prefixes basically meant that the only way to run a T17 was to just spend 20-50c rerolling them into something runnable. Ultimately, a combination of the general endgame rework AND the league mechanic meant that the gap between no-lifers and more casual players was widened to the point of being very demotivating for many players, and if you compared against recent leagues like Crucible and ToTA, your ability to progress as a casual player was very restricted.
haha i hate this league but 2 months from the start and 70% of time played i just buy dudes/bury dudes and i dont know why but its kinda fun. That crafting system is love for sure. Crafing is much less ass pain just for me. Free mirror tier weapon for any build is too OP but some stuff works really cool.
overall dont get the necropolis hate, the allflame / embers are a very cool addition, scarabs being reworked was awesome IMO, the only real downside of the league for me was gravecrafting, but not because it was a poor addition, instead mostly because the gravecrafting was kind of a pain in the butt to work with. I made some great gear with it, but it really wasnt fun to trade for corpses / place them. Other than that though, i thought the league was fantastic and tons of fun
GGG needs to realize a crafting focus league sucks so bad. Synthesis, harvest, crucible, and Necropolis all have a bad retention rate of players, and they're crafting leagues. Most people want to blast through the map or boss Uber. T17 as a concept is great but still unoptimized compared to other map tiers. The gap from T16 to T17 as in loot is just too big.
Yup nothing worse than micromanaging crap, I just want to kill stuff for a few hours. Only micromanaging I wanna do in POE is crafting my build in PoB. The week before a league launch.
AllFlame and Lanter system is great ! Coffin & Crafting is powerful but suckass ! but it does make people buy stash, hence funding the company, so kudos to GGG. And, the reason why people stop playing is because of burnout. Everyone test everything like crazy within the first month, played so much, too much. and they pretty much cover what they wanted in the short time. Alot of people stop pacing themselves. If u consider their hours played per season, it probably wont be far off.
Couldn't describe this league more than Micromanagement bloat of systems. Roll map, manage monsters with modifiers, add juice, loot fragments, currency and corpses, store them, repeat. Before you could drop something here and there some in map, now every second pack is jacked with something. Not such a big deal, but Corpses and Scarabs take 50-60% of inventory even on simple alch and go, and that extra 50-60% of "loot" is used by small fraction of people that are even mapping, for now in past 2 leagues you play less game than click on something, game became from "oh well i dropped something. let me see what this unique is, to i dropped pile of items let me check 20 of them are they worth picking, like people have filter that show just unique belts. Builds went transformations too, now you minimum need, High DPs, fast character, that is tanky, can be bosser but should clear screen in instant, builded from yellow items dropped in Acts. If we look at builds 47% of top 97k characters have Mageblood at this point of time, T0 Unique Btw ("Aspirational Uniques My Ass"), it means it has biggest presence in game and probably has highest unique rotation in economy, not counting Watchers eye in past 2 leagues. Scarabs drop like candy, we get more juicing > more trading > more frustrations. Considering we got Seven Gates as default on Map device, i am surprised that scarabs appeared in form they are now, i would understand if scarab would force mechanic and had % chance of spawning additional conditions to it (Example: use Ritual scarab, it do force ritual, but other "Higher" scarabs could be % roll to be added, instead of i force "Ritual" (+ jucing Exales with amount + Gigafication) and get "unexpected" interactions that needed to be nerfed in first weeks, that just makes any other ways way irrelevant, to that mechanic potential. T17, is controversial, but i would say they are fine as they are right now, without Lantern i think those could be in right spot, but there are some Monsters that need some work. Harvest was annoying, but it wasn't "hard" to interact and use it, Synthesis had bloat with Fractured items, that was hard to understand how to interact with those and Synthesyzer, that asked for Huge amount of Quad tabs (same as now), but playing and building "Sky map" was pretty simple and understandable, Necropolis in the other hand took worst aspect of those 2 and combined them in "transformative" way, that looked good on paper, but playing, it's just a mess. Necropolis even after changes has frustrating elements in it that isn't "fun" to interact with it. I would say even 3.24 league gameplay wise is worst league sine 3.x (cycle), and i still wonder how with all "learned lessons" it ended up this way, even surpassing Bestiary. Would say Poe 1 hit it's peak 3-4 years ago, now we slowly rolling downhill, it's not due to new leagues, but more to certain rules and game "value" devalued and it doesn't matter what 3.25 and beyond will be, perception of players won't change as fast and GGG itself already said "we won't change it in Poe 1, because it's selling point of Poe 2", so the Bigger Problems of Poe 1 won't be resolved till PoE 2 will be atleast 1 year after release. So if you like Numbers go higher, and i see more "pixels" you'll enjoy PoE 1 in subsequent years more than ever as it will be golden age of it. If not and you have Time on your side, might as well wait PoE 2 and burn yourself with PoE 1, as PoE 1 becomes a joke (and sadly for you i am not the only one that starts to perceive it like that in last years).
I was over the bs nerfs. The devs are simply dumb. The game is about fun which is what the previous league was. I didn't even make it to maps b4 quiting this trash league because the nerfs and terrible league mechanic.
You didnt even play the league if all you played was for 3 days, this is a you problem and not the game. Maybe find a new game to play if all you can last is 3 days.
@@m.h.4907 i havent seen anyone defending necropolis. ggg just fucked up hard. the league had potential but they squandered it by doing the same mistakes they always do. only this time, it was especially bad.
Let's not get carried away here. Look at all the changes that were made to this league. (Many changes were great btw) It's growing pains. I actually love the current state of the base game minus the current haunted modifiers and grave crafts everywhere. The economy was broken very early on between the T17s, Back to basics and allflames shitting out currency everywhere. Gravecrafting gave people zero incentive to build great rare items. Also unveiling orb drop rates needs reverted ASAP. This league the damages kinda already been done. Hopefully his will all be addressed next league! 🙏
Didn't want to interact with the league mechanics, but you are forced to. There is no option to not interact with it. Hope this will be gone compleetly in the future the whole mechanic. Also, Ultimatum seems to be meh, atleast I feel it's much worse than what it replaced.
