I flew on QR-921 from AKL-DOH and QR-610 and it was the best experience of my life the economy class food tasted like first class and INSHALLAH I will fly with Qatar airways again!😊
The return flight is longer due to the wind direction, heading to auckland you are going with the wind making it quicker but heading back to Doha, you are going against the winds which makes the flight time slower.
*The flight from Doha benefits from tailwinds. The return from Auckland faces headwinds slowing it down. Also, the flight paths for both flights may influence the flight duration.*
The duration of the flight to Qatar is heavily influenced by the wind direction. Headwinds that slow the aircraft down by forcing it from the front can extend the flight time, while tailwinds forcing it from the rear of the aircraft, like the aircraft is flying on a river stream of wind, can speed it up.
Having recently flown Qatar 23 hours out from the U.S. to Asia and then 24 hours back -- fortunately in business class -- I know this is a spectacular airline. And yes, Doha is incredibly beautiful from the air. I hope someday to see the city at ground level too.
I have taken this flight several times over the past few years, but have not made it in the new Airbus jet. I’m sure it is an upgrade from the Boeing 777 extended range which was getting very long in the tooth. The service on board, however, was always first rate.
I am a new subscriber, greeting from Algeria. I travel to China two times with Qatar Airways business class. Thank you for your comfortable trip and excellent service.
The flight duration towards Doha is longer as Headwinds are the predominant wind, resulting in a lower GS. I captain a 380 flight between the UAE and AKL, man, it's a long one.
The return is longer because the winds from the WEST go from WEST TO EAST and then from Auckland you are going from east to west so you will have a headwind
The flight time to Qatar is influenced by Jet streams and they are fast flowing, narrow air currents found in the atmospheres of some planets, including Earth. They are primarily found in the upper levels of the atmosphere and flow from west to east.
Headwinds and tailwinds impact a flight's duration. In the sky, there are winds and their directions, and aircraft have a limit as to how fast the air relative to the wings move. In a headwind, the speed of air, or airspeed, is greater than a tailwind, which blows in the opposite direction (same direction the aircraft is going) assuming the ground speed (the speed of the ground relative to the aircraft) stays the same. Airplanes want to maintain a certain airspeed when flying, and unless the wind direction doesn't change, the ground speed must change so the airspeed changes accordingly. The return flight from Auckland will have to fly with a headwind, and then the ground speed must decrease. Now it will take the aircraft longer to fly this distance. Aviation is very interesting ❤😃!
The inernet says that qatar Airways is best. I'd rather be in qatar Airways than Pegasus. The boarding music is great! The safety video is funny! I have been in qatar Airways in 2023 June/July. My guest is a flight attendant. I like to experience qatar Airways again! I like Arabic rice, but i can't go back to qatar. So I wanted to go to qatar I think my dad is gonna use qatar Airways. I really love qatar, So if you wanna try qatar Airways Like cornice and Festival. Go to qatar Airways! Love qatar from bosnia.
I have flown from/to Doha and Auckland many times and it’s long but smooth flight. Only thing I hate about is Doha Airport, it’s small and don’t have gates so planes are parked in tarmac
I flew on that flight in March this year Auckland to Doha, grueling but Qatar are a good arline so it wasn't too bad, I noticed that for most of the journey the window blinds were down! Odd!
Yup! They made a couple of mistakes in their last upload. For example, the video they used landing into Auckland airport, wasn't even close to looking like landing at Auckland airport. So good on them for fixing those errors.
✈️ EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED with @QatarAirways Traveled from KWI-DOH-CAI on June 2nd and Qatar Airways lost my checked bag. It's been over 4 weeks and no resolution. They gave me a claim number but no follow up. I've emailed and called repeatedly with no real updates or help finding my bag. It's embarrassing to have to beg an airline for basic customer service after they misplaced my property. Not to mention the financial costs to replace everything that was in the bag. As one of the top airlines in the world, I expected better than empty promises and run around. At this point I just want my belongings back or fair compensation. But the lack of concern or accountability shown is unacceptable. Other travelers BEWARE - if your bag goes missing with Qatar, don't expect it to be priority. Learn from my expensive mistake and avoid this airline if you value your bags arriving intact!
Is the difference in flight time due to the earth's rotation causing wind patterns to move from the west to east? I'm not sure, but this is even noticeable in a 3-4 hour flight, that it is always a bit quicker going east. Such a great video. If the wind is in the right direction, sometimes this exact flight flies directly over my house in Auckland on its way to Doha. Now I know more about it.
I think that the outbound flight to Oakland takes less time because the plane flies in the same direction of the Earth's rotation, and the attractive force of the Earth is less strong when the plane travels in the same direction. It's almost like the effect of a catapult.
