Hey Cassandra! Chemist with alopecia here. I'd like to make a few comments to your review: 1. The foam is more an added experience than a proof that the shampoo (or soap, or anything really) is working. Recently there's a big trend of products that doesn't foam but actually work wonders. 2. Unless your doctor tells you otherwise, a person with oily scalp and hair loss should wash their hair every day, or every other day. That's because the oils can clog up the folicules and weaken it, making you more prone to losing hair. If you're worried about your ends, you can apply the conditioner first, let it sit, then apply the shampoo and rinse it all together. The conditioner is going to protect your ends from the shampoo, and the shampoo is going to help you wash the excess of conditioner. 3. Also, try to wash your hair more frequently with a more light-weight shampoo. It will also help to keep your ends from being stripped of its oils. 4. Please, don't add oils to your shampoo! 😬that can interfere with both the formulation and the products used to make sure bacteria don't grow in the product. I hope my comments are useful. I really like your video and I was anxious to watch it!

I started using lityleextra reactivate serum for hair growth which has rosemary because my hair was swiftly falling out due to stress and similar reasons. I was actually just looking for anything at all to try, so this was recommended, therefore I went for it. Inside a few days, I personally saw noticeably less hair loss when I brush my hair. I also observed where I began getting patches of loss, there existed new growth. It actually irritate my skin a bit right on the forehead hairline, so I use a band to keep it from running down whilst also keeping the head tilted back during application. The irritation went away and has not returned, therefore if your skin is sensitive or only to be careful, I suggest a hairband to avoid it from running down to your skin. On the whole, I'm so satisfied with this serum and will continue to use.

I feel like even with a dry scalp most conditioners can cause problems on the scalp. Keratin on skin for instance isn’t good and a lot of conditioners contain it. I’ve started using cerave cream on the scalp when I condition to fight the frizz in the root hair and moisturize the scalp so I don’t have to pull the conditioner onto the scalp and potentially cause build up and clogged follicles.

Have you ever been to a curly hair salon where they show you how to work with your curls as well as cut your hair in a way that reduces frizz? That was the game-changer for me early on. I didn't even know my hair could curl I thought it was just a frizz ball until I learned and I never get anyone else to cut, treat etc my hair since except for people who specialize in my hair texture. Constantly straightening my hair in the past totally ravaged my very fine curly hair....

Ditto. Cassandra, I'm certain that the frequency and aggressiveness you're applying with that massager - and the fact that it's rubber - is way too much stress on your roots. Scalp massage is excellent for hair heath but it needs to be with your fingertips and it needs to be gentle. Ditch the rubber massager! Although you don't notice it, the rubber has friction against the hair shaft (even wet, coated hair) and it's actually pulling at your roots.

I want to help you like you did for me and my skin so here are some tips for you about hair care. Try to lather your shampoobefore applying it. Youll get easier distribution and less friction on your hair. Also try to only move your fingers sideways as you work tour way from the front of your hairline towards your neck. Your hair is especially fragile when wet, so cirkular motions will most likely damage your hair in the long run. Also avoid running your fingers through wet hair. This might be ok for curly hair though. Just massage your ends between flat hands only going down. I Hope this helps against your excessive hair shedding as it did for me. Greetings from a Greenlander :)

Honestly out of all the tutorials I’ve seen, Cassandra has gotten her shampoo to lather the most! Mell had the same problem where there’s very little lather, so it’s hard to know what areas you’ve cleaned vs skipped. I have scalp dandruff so personally, I won’t be purchasing this product. But I wish shampoo companies wouldn’t demonize sulfates so much. I need some suds!
@rosalina2773
@rosalina2773 2 года назад
I would really recommend the Miribel Naturals one, it’s similar no lather. I have scalp dandruff and can use it. I use it every other time or with just a little of my dandruff shampoo because it helps my hair be less fluffy/frizzy but doesn’t make the dandruff come back. It’s hydrating but kind of clarifying feeling on the scalp if that makes sense? I used it with a scalp brush.

My dermatologist has suggested for me to use rosemary oil for my alopecia. He has worked closely with trichologists and is very invested in the studies done comparing Rosemary oil to rogaine and they were both found to be just as effective and Rosemary was less irritating to the scalp. I make my own boiling Rosemary and water and then spraying my damp hair after washes. Keeps really well in the fridge. I’ve noticed a huge difference in the density of my hair as well as tons of baby hairs in my hairline growing back. I tried soooo much before I tried this and nothing gave me the results I anticipated.

The scalp massage brush she is using can be used wet or dry (dry with oil). When your hair is wet it will glide better. I use a electric one for my scalp and it helped with itchiness, dandruff and hair loss. (I also supplement Vitamin D3 + K2 and iron) I've been doing this for a few years now and my hairline got thicker and my babyhairs are growing out and my hair loss after several years didn't come back. By the way...hair that is falling out, is already in the exogen (shedding) phase. It does not fall out from any mechanic influence. It's different if your hair is fragile from lets say bleaching, because then it's breaking off, while brushing it. But she has a hormonal issue so brushing her hair wet, won't make her hair fall out more.

That tool was scary looking and she really dug in with it too and in aggressively. It made me shudder when she went to scrub her front hair with it. @@auroras.2015 the way she was using it seemed like it was tugging on the hair alot of breakage can still happen regardless of what stage the hair is at while its wet. when your hair is wet it expands like a sponge making it alot more fragile and even that could promote breakage. using it while wet and with some oil is two different things. i still wouldnt use this on my hair while wet MAYBE lightly oiled.

I do the double cleanse method in the shower. First shampoo application won’t foam up as much because you’re getting the junk out. Like removing makeup/sunscreen. Then the second is the deeper clean/follow up. Making sure that all the nasties are down the drain.

You review says it. It is totally for me. I've supper supper sensitive skin. My scalp was really bad before using it. And it got worse, because I had to shower more because I work at the swimming pool. So yeah, like you said, for people who swim regularly. And the conditioner works also really good for me :) I finally saw my own texture of my hair. It wasn't strait all the time :) I'm happy you made this review. You confirmed it is a good option for my eczema prone skin that has to deal with the swimming pool on a regular bases.

Lil tip/hack for shampoos: Replace cap with one of the nozzles you get from an applicator bottle so that you can apply shampoo directly to the scalp. Helps get shampoo on the scalp directly so you don't have to scrub/work so hard and ends up saving you more product which in the end saves you more money as well.

I was a bit shocked as to how much conditioner you used. I was told by a wonderful hairdresser that you need such a small amount of conditioner and that most people use way to much. She also said to only put on your ends versus the entire head. Maybe try this and see what you think. It has saved me a small fortune for my curly thin hair.

Cassandra! I would like to tell you how to increase the effectiveness of those products! (and sorry for my bad english, it's my second language) First, you need to really deeply soak your scalp before applying shampoo - this will make iteasier to distribute. Before putting the shampoo on your scalp, try lathering it with a little bit of water between your hands or even dissolving it in a cup - this is the best way to use less shampoo :D I think the Ordinary's shampoo may be a good product for someone who washes their hair everyday but still you need to use a stronger, clarifying shampoo once in a week or two to get off that build-up on scalp WHICH may be the cause of hair loss (the follicles can get clogged). This will make them shiny and fluffy again, aspecially for oily scalp, which I also have :3 I don't know much about locks but the general rule for better conditioning is to squeeze out excess water out of hair before applying the conditioner and then leave it for 5-10 minutes before rinsing. If you want your hair to be less frizzy but still hydrated, scrunch in a bit of leave-in conditioner before letting your hair dry :) I hope your hair will improve and you will fall in love with your curl again

Thanks for the great info, you get on your scalp pretty good with the scalp scrubber. I tell my clients who are trying to stimulate hair growth to not be too aggressive on the scalp bc you don’t want to break any of the new baby hairs that are trying to grow. I tell them to place their scrubber tool or fingers in one position and then massage, repeating that pattern all over the scalp. If that makes sense. 😃♥️

I had no idea The Ordinary shampoo and conditioner was new. I had bought it back in late March and have been using it til now. My hair is a bit less curly than yours and (now) I keep it quite short so the bottles last longer for me. The shampoo doesn’t make me feel as cleansed as I’m used to but I also love the conditioner as it doesn’t weigh my hair down and make more strands come out. Side note: I do have dermatitis and a bit of psoriasis on my scalp, and this did a good job of not irritating my scalp. Overall I love it and, as always, love that you made a video on it ♥️

From my experience, if you have an oily scalp, you need to wash your hair with a gentle shampoo every day. Alternatively, if you want to skip 2-3 days of shampooing, it has to be middle shampoo for the first wash, followed by a gentle shampoo. This ensures that the scalp is thoroughly cleaned without over-drying the hair-similar to the strategy of double cleansing for the face. Additionally, I've found that shampoos containing niacinamide an SA are very helpful in controlling sebum.

Hi Cassandra! Idk if its a listed warning, but the Ordinary Aha/BHA peel was causing my hair loss issues to some degree. I would have breakage and lost from ym head one to two days after use anywhere on my body; regardless if it touched my hair at all.

what?????
@frankied.roosevelt6232
@frankied.roosevelt6232 2 года назад
@@anjaxoto3869 my hair would break about 3 or 4 inches down the strand of my hair and become dry and brittle regardless of how much product or attempts I made to fix it. I only found out because I ran out and forgot to replace it for a couple weeks and my hair was much more controlled and there was significantly less loss and breakage. ... still being somewhat dry from antihistamine need and thyroid and parathyroid related nutrition issues similar to hers. The peeling solution was just adding to those effects. I thought maybe it was just a coincidence until I finally replaced the bottle of the aha/bha peeling mask, and within a day or two after putting it on my face, I had breakage all throughout my scalp again. Like noticeably bad enough that my mom thought maybe I was in a thyroiditis flare. Idk if its applicable to everyone, but with Cassandra having similar connective tissue and underlying endocrine issues, I figured it'd be worth mentioning to her.

I majorly struggled with oily hair, i can also develop dry patches of psoriasis around the scalp also. Plus dry ends. A good friend and hairdresser recommended to me to only use shampoo once, maybe twice a week, and just use conditioner on the other days i get my hair wet. Total game changer. It helped regulate oil production, and it stopped the development of flakey psoriasis, especially when i oil my hair prior to shampooing. Best of both worlds!

Hair that is falling out like that, is in the shedding phase. You can't "save" it, by touching your hair or scalp less, because it has fallen out already. What you thinking of is fragile hair, that is breaking of, like hair that has been belached. Cass has a hormonal issue. It's causing her hair to have a shorter growing phase and a longer shedding phase. I had the same problem years ago and I started scalp massages with peppermint oil (+supplementing high dosages of vitamin D3+K2). My hair stopped falling out and from massaging my scalp my hair grows thicker. Not faster but stronger. So she is not causing more hair loss.
@dees3179

If I was as rough with my hair as you are Cassandra I would be mostly bald. Mine is so fragile. I’d love to be able to scrub at it like you do. I’ve had best results just giving up going with a solid shampoo and conditioner from a natural brand. And I can’t style it at all, heat melts it, tugging breaks it. And sadly this is the best it’s been. Hope you get to the bottom of the hair loss thing soon. It’s rubbish.

@@Aaarandom hair oil made a big difference for nine months until the doctor came at me with some nasty drugs that caused a lot of hair loss. Turns out it was really dry, although it didn't look it. In that period it actually gained genuine length. I was having to cut it, and it was filling in thickness because it wasn't turning to dust. To give an idea, washing twice a week and applying oil to the ends before and after washing only (and it never looking oily) I got through nearly three bottles of oil (200ml I think) in a year. It just sucks up oil and it vanishes. It's blonde too, so you'd think it would darken it, but it doesn't.

These products are AMAZING for folks with atopic dermatitis/eczema, especially on the more severe side. I have not found a good shampoo/conditioner (even among some other fragrance-free options) that have actually not irritated my skin until now! I do not have super strict hair needs (I have never dyed/colored and I don't use heat often bc wavy hair), but this really does the job-- especially considering other brands irritated me so badly I could not wash my hair often!

Cassandra just another suggestion, totally your choice but another thing that would help,whilst just getting your hair into a better condition, would be to cut it a bit shorter. As I got older (I’m 26) I noticed the longer my hair was the more it would fall out. It’s as if my scalp couldn’t take the strain/weight of my hair. Maybe go for shoulder length? This will also make it look thicker and fuller. I also mentioned this as a comment on your last hair related video - but castor oil and rosemary oil WORKS!

I have very similar if not same hair texture, oil, etc. and experienced hair loss (and still do if I revert to these habits) what helps me is washing my hair every day if it’s oily or every other day if I don’t get super dirty/sweaty. Not touching it so much when it’s wet. Detangling dry hair right before I shower. And I quit using the scalp scrubber just to be safe and didn’t seem to need it since I wash more regularly now. Like one you have washed and conditioned, just use a hair gel to style you hair and tame frizz with weighing your hair down. I think it will work great for you as your hair is on finer side. Serums and oils can sometimes be on the heavy side.
