I think they overworked him in the preparation. I think they filled him with facts and figures that he had to remember, and it messed with his ability to react spontaneously. I think he should have prepared less, rested more, and simply responded to Trump’s crap with “please fact check this liar.” I don’t doubt Biden is a good man, but he isn’t Superman. He should have just pointed out what Trump is and answered questions honestly as best as he was able. I don’t think he’s senile. I think he was over worked and overwhelmed.
The only way to debate Trump in my opinion is to say every time its your turn: "Everything he just said is a lie. But here's what I am going to do, have done, and want to do for you." That way you don't have to debate Trump, you just have a conversation with the questioners.
yes. there is 0 point in debating Trump. He has no policies, he's not bound by reality. I think Biden was stunned because he didn't realize he would be essentially just witnessing a one man maga rally in purpose while Jake Tapper and Dana Bash just watched Regardless, it doesnt matter. It's over, it happened, the media is overstating it because that's how they make money. Biden came out the next day and gave a speech that should assuage anyone who started panicking. We don't NEED a debate, its not required to be president. Biden is not going to have to debate vladimir putin on television, or anything on television. People need to really pull it together.
Great idea. To viewers on the fence it would at least show that one candidate has awareness of the issues and ideas for solutions, while one doesn't and relies on childish namecalling and lies. It depresses me how many people fall for it; Trump should have a few percent support, not nearly half... but there has to be a better way to deal with him. This would be worth a try! Hope Joe's team sees it, lol!

Trump just kept returning to his usual campaign speeches (without the windmills, sharks, water pressure nonsense) at a breakneck pace. It was impossible to remember his jumping around from topic to topic. President Biden was trying to remember prepared answers with "folksy" lead-ins in response to individual lies, which just doesn't work against a fire hose of lies.
Born and raised in post-war Germany, I can well remember the seemingly endless discussions in school: How on Earth could the fascist dictatorship take a foothold and come to ruling power in the first place? Now it can be watched real-time and in living colors.
What you are saying is something Europe felt about Trump the first time, they are well aware of his stench, unfortunately, blips on social media prevent individuals to truly see and hear the complete unfitness of this person. If enough people allow the outside to tell them what is inside them, you let the bullying overwhelm you. The financial strain and the lost of jobs for men in middle management positions and those never beyond the shop floor and cubicle are disillusioned and rather than reframing their own story to grow with this reality, they choose to blame and point and chose a puppeteer as their leader. If you want change, it is easier in a group swell, which is what we are witnessing, but the change coming is far worse and it will be far reaching, the one thing wealth and power are excellent at, pulling the ladder up after themselves. None of these followers are going to be in positions over others, they will quietly be silenced. Hitler did that and so did Stalin and so has Putin.
It's important for everyone to remember that you are voting for an entire administration with its policies as well as judicial appointments. There is just no comparison if you care at all about reproductive rights, voting rights, the environment, gun safety, healthcare, and any other form of progress. Vote BLUE straight down the ballot.
Thank you!!! Policies are what create good or bad administrations. Biden’s administration has done enormous good for America as a whole. Trump’s administration created the conditions that Biden and his team had to correct to start America on a path to recovery. Once again a Democrat has to clean up a Republican disaster. Ask Clinton, and more so, Obama about that.
I couldn't give two knobs of mink crap about the debate or Biden's performance in the debate. Debating is not a part of presidential duties. I have never watched a debate and never will for that reason,. What I care about is his parties platform, the team he will be bringing in with him, his/her political record and how these factors will affect my life and those I care about. Debates be damned.
Rfk jr won the debate without being there.... Hes the true democrat running, and the fact that the corporate owned dnc lies about him proves it. Look into him for yourself, he has a better chance of beating trump than biden ...
I feel stronger after that debate that I will vote for President Biden because I believe the President will continue to surround himself with honest intelligent people who he will listen to. Trump would only surround himself with cronies who are merely yes men to do his criminal bidding. President Biden can still do this!

All I know is Trump saying he won his own golf tournament doesn't help the American people, but the media don't focus on that and can't wait to criticize a president that's not only given us record economy/jobs/infrastructure but admits there's more to do. We'd be lucky to have four more years of Biden.
Biden lied about the jobs created, he's been fact checked on Snopes and Bloomberg. Add in the inflation and deficit spending under the Biden administration, and it's enough for me to pass on him. The things I take personally, like him checking his watch during the dignified transfer of dead Marines, and his abuse of his daughter kind of hit at him more than Trump's attitude.
Trump spent almost a year's worth of days of his presidency golfing. Not only that, but most of the time it was in Florida, where Trump made money off of the Secret Service having to stay at Mar a Lardo.
EXACTLY! Only ONE person in that freezing debate room has the job, and is doing it very well, of being the President of the United States. He isn't superhuman. He actually works for a living, then campaigned, and then prepped for a debate while having a cold. Neither does Biden or even Jill Biden. Elder abuse? How about selling state secrets? Human Trafficking? Replacing the American worker with illegals? Those are morals I guess to progressives.
Alito’s and Thomas’s refusal to recuse themselves with conflicts of interest is not only unethical, it violates their oath of office to remain impartial and fair.
Why did Biden even agree to a debate? Who are his advisers? It would have been far more powerful and impactful to decline debating a convicted felon, who tried to overturn an election and whose personal organization also found guilty of fraud (accountant and others went to jail for him). What part of engaging in a debate at all makes any sense? It would have been a stronger statement to not debate a convicted con artist. The media also has been awful in not being more forceful.
The funny thing is his poll numbers shifter after the debate by +5, sure Biden stuttered, but Trump was his usual piece of shit self and just showing America that was a win, they just needed a reminder of just how fucking insane, how much he lies, and what a general ass he is.
Biden didn't want to just give the stage to Trumpian behavior. He decided to fight and was drawn into the dirty roll of the neighborhood bully and known champion of discourtesy. Maybe next time he'll shun Trump alltogether and speak to us as the friend in life that we know him to be.
If he didn't have so many cognitive and speech issues, including aphasia, he could have wiped the floor with stronger responses to Trump's unhinged comments. He is no longer effective at debating due to the high degree of neurological disability he is now experiencing. The rate at which his disorder is progressing is the scary part. This is not a solvable problem because it is only going to get worse.
You know, one thing that EVERYONE could do is improve their understanding of Rhetorical skills. I just went on CHAT GPT to help provide examples on how to counter A Gish Gallop device. This is what it produced: A Gish Gallop is a rhetorical technique in which someone attempts to overwhelm their opponent by providing an excessive number of arguments or assertions, many of which may be weak, irrelevant, or inaccurate. The goal is to make it difficult for the opponent to respond to all the points in a limited amount of time. Here are some strategies and examples for responding or countering a Gish Gallop: ### Strategy 1: Focus on Key Points Identify the most critical points made and focus on those, rather than trying to address every single claim. **Example:** Opponent: "Climate change isn't real because it's cold today, and besides, volcanoes emit more CO2 than humans, and scientists are often wrong, and look at the little ice age, and so on..." Response: "Let's focus on the main points. First, a single day's weather doesn't disprove long-term climate trends. Second, studies show that human activities emit significantly more CO2 than volcanoes. Would you like to discuss the scientific consensus on this?" ### Strategy 2: Point Out the Tactic Explicitly call out the Gish Gallop technique to make the audience aware of what's happening. **Example:** Opponent: "Vaccines cause autism, the flu shot doesn't work, vaccines contain harmful chemicals, and natural immunity is better, plus there's a big conspiracy by Big Pharma." Response: "It seems you're using a Gish Gallop by throwing out a lot of claims at once. Let's address each point one by one, starting with the most significant. For example, extensive studies have shown no link between vaccines and autism." ### Strategy 3: Ask for Clarification Ask the opponent to clarify or substantiate their claims, which can slow down the barrage of points and make them focus on fewer, more substantial arguments. **Example:** Opponent: "The moon landing was faked, NASA can't be trusted, there are shadows in the photos, and why haven't we gone back if it was real?" Response: "Can you provide detailed evidence for one of these claims, such as the shadows in the photos? Let's examine that point closely." ### Strategy 4: Use General Refutations Provide a general refutation that applies to multiple points, especially when the claims are based on a common misunderstanding or fallacy. **Example:** Opponent: "Evolution is just a theory, there are no transitional fossils, and the complexity of life can't be explained by natural selection." Response: "The term 'theory' in scientific context means a well-substantiated explanation. There is abundant evidence for evolution, including many transitional fossils. Complexity in life is indeed explained by natural selection, as supported by extensive research. If you want, we can delve deeper into any of these specific points." ### Strategy 5: Redirect to Core Issues Redirect the conversation to the core issue at hand and away from tangential or irrelevant points. **Example:** Opponent: "The government is corrupt, taxes are too high, the healthcare system is failing, and politicians are all liars, so we shouldn't trust them on climate change." Response: "While there are various issues in governance, the core issue here is the scientific evidence supporting climate change. Let's focus on the data and research provided by climate scientists." ### Strategy 6: Summarize and Simplify Summarize the opponent's points and simplify the argument to show the main areas of disagreement. **Example:** Opponent: "There's no proof that GMOs are safe, organic food is better, big corporations are hiding the truth, and GMOs are unnatural." Response: "You have several concerns about GMOs, but the core issues seem to be safety and corporate transparency. Scientific studies have consistently shown that GMOs are safe to eat. If you have specific studies or evidence to the contrary, let's review those." Using these strategies can help manage a Gish Gallop and allow for a more focused and effective response.
This wasn’t their first debate. Even when Joe puts in a good performance people still think Trump won. Gish Gallop works on the short attention spans that Americans are famous for, as well as the generations of voters that have resulted from the dismantling of public education.
What happened is they allowed one of the debate people to lie constantly and not answer the questions. Sociopaths and liars often look great. But they're terrible leaders.
Every time Biden opens his mouth he's lying fortunately most often he doesn't finish his sentence and fades off into nothingness just like his tenure in the White House has.

Respectfully, you fail to understand the number of morally bankrupt people in the world (not just in the US). Do you know what characterological disorders are? In psychology, they're know as personality disorders but the a disorders of MORAL character. Narcissists, borderlines, histrionics, antisocial, sociopaths and psychopathy all have characterological disorders, which is why they identify with the criminals, bullies, dictators, racists, misogynists, homophobes, and other morally bankrupt individuals. These people walk amongst decent human beings and people who lack the post-doc education on personality psychopathology or who have not completed a medical fellowship in psychiatry don't know what that means. Most ever crime, violent and non-violent, white collar and otherwise, all the way down to drunk driving, serial cheating on tests/spouses/resumes and plagiarism comes down to a characterological disorder, pathological entitlement, a lack of empathy for others, and they *sincerely* believe they are above the rules and laws of society and the social contract. Now you know. Please be careful out there in the world, as about 40% of the global population has at least one of those above character disorders I mentioned. The stench of their bribes and favors have disillusioned the citizens and have made them poor and ill-purposed court appointees.
The people saying they'll vote for Biden no matter what aren't the ones who need convincing and they aren't the ones who will determine the outcome of the election. It's the people who are undecided or who might not vote that are needed. And the debate just lost a lot of them.

I am voting for Joe. I think Robert and Heather should consider why Joe was sometimes unable to finish a sentence. He doesn't have a strong voice, and he needs time to form words, so speaks slowly. He had a cold with a sore throat, so speaking quickly and concisely was even harder. He had to have been highly conscious of the ONE MINUTE time allowance. I was totally bummed by his performance, but I did make allowances for the format. I am over my depressed mood, and ready to keep fighting for Joe. I do wish he had talked more about unions and infrastructure. By the way, I am 82.

Trump won't get into office again on the back of people switching their votes to him. He will get into office on the back of decent people who would never vote for him staying home. And unless Biden stands aside for someone else, I think that outcome is very likely. Trump might be a psychopath and frankly not very bright but he has already won one presidential election. There are enough authoritarians in the US electorate to get people like Trump very close to be elected. They don't need to pick up very many more votes from people who are disaffected or just plain scared and confused.

I'm decades younger than Biden and I would have had a hard time debating someone who is lying with every statement. There were just too many lies to refute and still answer the questions. It must have been overwhelming.
All Joe has to do was answer the questions asked if him and he failed at even that simple task. You think you can rely on him when Russian missiles are on the horizons?
I think the American voting public should judge each candidate on what he or she has done for the betterment of this country instead of one -1 night! I am inclined to see a man that really does love his country and tries his hardest to answer the questions. He did get distracted by a showboat and bully not answering a single question and lied every time he opened his mouth. Did the president have a bad night? Yes he did. Has trump shown any ability to lead this country? I think not.

Start by voting blue every chance we get from now on. We need strong blue majorities in both House & Senate with of course, a Dem president. Let's unit, focus & get that done 1st!
yes, what can we do when the justice system fails? Reich had been saying Biden needs to 'pack' the court to fix it, and yet Biden did not do a damn thing about it. But Reich complain?
The Dems "supermajority" plea is bs, they hide behind the parliamentarian to not do anything, because they like Republican policies because they themselves are neocons.
Project 2025 is the real issue, the policy behind Rump's disconnected rants about sharks and batteries and low flow toilets. The distraction is the candidate's job.
I am a high information voter, a gay latino immigrant and a Berniecrat, and I am way more disappointed by this analysis of the debate than the debate itself. I don't know how anyone could have expected Biden to have the body language to communicate anything. Am I the only one that watches the news through late night talk shows? They make fun of Biden for being old and senile every day, and I am fine with it. At the end of the day this administration has done good things in infrastructure, student debt, insulin price, etc. If the debate wasn't about policies but rather stage performance, who thought Biden would do better than he did? Did he muddle what he was saying, yes (he always does). Did he answer the questions, yes he did. Did he present good policies, yes he did. Did he call out Trump for being a lying cruel person, yes he did a couple of times (if you call our every lie, you won't talk about anything else). I don't know what people were expecting or why are they in a panic. Were they expecting an action hero? How can you be a pundit and live in a fantasy world like that? I am very disappointed in Robert Reich over considering Biden's resignation. No complete stranger is going to win an election against Trump in 4 months. I am voting for Biden.
You are absolutely right. In the short time alloted, President Biden could either call out some of the lies ( there were so many) or push his policies. He tried to do both but was often cut off in mid sentence by the hopeless moderators. His voice was weak and I suspect a sore throat. Shame on Reich for suggesting he step down, I thought him better than that.
As an Englishman who has lived in this country for decades, I will note that US politics are disturbingly irrational and to expect the idioti (not a mis-spelling - I mean that) to actually pay attention to substance rather then image is to not understand US culture at the core of the culture. Image is everything. Have you seen even one ad on TV, the internet or heard one on radio that cites any kind of facts? What about political ads? Even worse in the majority. Here is a fact - 20% of the American population stays abreast of sports reporting and events. Only 20% of Americans do anything like that with regard to politics. My father used to refer to this country not as the United States, but rather as the Untied States - and that is many aspects a very valid comment. I will vote for Biden, but I won't be in this country for much longer. The gun situation, the medical nonsense and the increasingly vapid nature of US culture have forced me to decide that residing here full time is no longer a sensible idea. I wish you, and us, all of the best. But the US is increasingly deranged country that lives more by emotions than any form of rational thought. Cheers
Great post. I had to chuckle, though, about Biden always muddling what he is saying, lol. It's true....the dude has always had a stutter and I respect him for the work he put in to overcome it. Joe is not the most eloquent speaker, but what he says has substance. Always. He has done and continues to do a good job for the country and I'm still behind him all the way. Fun fact, though....after the debate, Biden went up a point or two in the polls and Trump went down. Also, Joe's campaign took in 14 million the day after the debate, which they said was his biggest one-day haul ever. Trump took in 8 million. I think the people have spoken. I was going to watch this vid, but if they're going to be trashing Biden for one bad debate, I'm going to skip it. Same with TYT. Disappointing to see this sort of thing.
@@RichardMcCroftI hear you. This country is debating nothing but emotional, cultural issues. Nothing about substance and policies. Is a shit show is what it is, a very very expensive one. He was already pressed against the wall w the war crimes/ potential genocide in Palestine and now this? Btw I don’t agree w him on Palestine at all.
I really think Biden was completely overwhelmed by Trumps lies and the format of debate. It didn’t help that the moderators didn’t push back on any of Trumps bs

@@catherinekasiewicz8683 Did you see that he owned the bad debate instead of making up lies and excuses and blaming others? It is SO nice to see an Adult in the White House.
I listened to Bob Woodward last night, and he had a good question. "What happened?" Biden's performance before and after were energetic and great. Did he have a fallout with someone close? Was he beginning to catch a cold? (At this point, calling off the debate would have also been disasterous.) Biden's been a great president. Why wouldn't he continue on the same track. Biden deserves our support. All of his constituents should be boosting him right now. I think Kamala could do a good job in case something were to happen. Hopefully, the citizens of this country will see through trump and his lies.
What happened before was Biden reading from a teleprompter. What happened after was Biden reading from a teleprompter. Plus 50 years of experience reading prepared scripts -- with practiced conviction to be sure! -- from teleprompters. The sad fact is that Mr. Biden exhibits all the classic features of early senile dementia.
Biden is a senile old fart. The fact that the polls show a dead heat illuminates the sorry selection both parties have made. The GOP could have picked almost anyone else and be running away with voters. Instead, it is a battle between two losers. Politics are hopelessly broken in the USA.
Unless you're a Maga, everyone agrees they don't want Trump back. You know we all stood strong in 2020, And Trump wolf a little too much. The people fired Trump that day. Saying no more to his lies then. And we can do it again 2024 💙
@@chrism.1131 ...100%...Gotta vote. Staying home is not a good option. This is the most important Election in modern American history. There is so much at stake.
This is a narrative that may not be true, about the overcoaching. There is another more plausible narrative that Biden has dementia that is getting worse, as is often the case. It’s usually progressive. He may very well be completely lucid at times, but when have we recently seen him speak without a teleprompter? He has been increasingly shielded from prolonged speaking bouts.
I so agree with you!!! Have you heard about the 2025 plan for America that will be put into law if Trump wins the election? Please help spread the news about this plan because if we do not get the word out on this America will be no more. Thanks!!!
I was overwhelmed with the verbal attack. I was in shock as well. I'm screaming at the TV to stop Tumps attack. If thats what a debate is for attacking. CNN dropped the ball with no control. I feel after that show, a lot of support came out for Biden. It did in contributions, and we're standing up for democracy and his back. Vote 💙
Exactly- leaving Biden to be his own moderator, volume low] on his microphone, with Convicted Felon Donald spewing a string of lies, non-sequiters and specious arguments - began to look like a 'set up'. Another rhetorical technique 'trick' called "Brandolini's law" = bullshit asymmetry principle emphasizes the great effort in takes to debunk disinformation/ lies in relation to the ease of creating it. Also if you have ever been in the presence of a malignant, vindictive narcissist who has you in their sites it is powerful enough to drag 160 members of Congress with him - who are Yale and Harvard trained legal debaters.
I'm in my 50's have delt with elderly family members this is exactly what I have seen happen aging progress quickly I have seen months go from normal to mental cognitive decline. If Biden had lack of sleep, or the flu something like that he really needs to explain what happened reassure Americans by a townhall, or media event answering questions . He needs to explain what happened if he can do that it would clear this up. If they refuse to do it just acknowledges to me that something wrong with him. He suffered a TIA ministroke, or early dementia.
@28:22 "It's not about numbers. It's not about policy. You can make up anything you want and not be held accountable. What's important is how you look. How you act." Translation: Too many people in this country are stupid. Too stupid to even understand numbers and policy. (But no one with a camera pointing at them is willing to just say this plainly.)
Could you help get the word out about the 2025 plan for America? If Trump gets elected and this plan goes into law there will be no more America. Thanks!!!
Hearing sane people try and make sense of the insanity we are currently experiencing is helping to an extent 🤔 Most of what I remember from the debate was the face of Conald Dump and the smirk as he LIED about EVERYTHING 😡 VOTE BLUE for OUR LIVES 💙🇺🇸💙🇺🇸🇺🇸💙🇺🇸💙🇺🇸💙🇺🇸💙🇺🇸
Biden has been an outstandingly effective president. Talk of replacing him just needs to stop. He needs our support, and U.S. democracy needs him to win.
effective at what? we have a no borders, global wars, insane inflation and a president who cannot function. there is literally nothing effective about what they've done.
I agree, plus way too late to run a campaign with someone well enough known to get voters trust. Been has so mush experience in government. He went from youngest senator to oldest president and has never forgotten his middle class upbringing and has always tried to look out for everyday middle class families as well as the rest of the country. He supports unions and wants to bring more better paying manufacturing Jon's back to US. He recently brought the manufacture of the computer chips originally developed in America, back to America.
@@debramcgivney1811 Time spent in government is not a good thing... He "wants to." My man, he's had 4 years, if he wanted to, it'd be done. All you have are wars, insane border policies, insane inflation, and exactly what you'd expect from establishment politicians being in charge. Par for the course.
As someone that was a Communications major in university, you can tell that Biden was grilled with facts and figures by his staff instead of letting him just be him. The rules of the the debate were ludicrous because 60 seconds to respond is not the standard for debates. Usually it is 3 minutes for rebuttal and 5 or more to answer a question. Biden looked exhausted and sounded it too. If you look at how flushed his face was at the debate compared to the events the next day it is night and day difference. He does best when they let him be him. And CNN should be ashamed for the softball way it was handled and no fact checking. It is way too late to replace him but if this choice between these two does not wake up the American people to demanding term limits and age limits then we have to do it ourselves and vote everyone out after a certain age. Age and experience is one thing but few have the energy and stamina of Bernie Sanders past age 70. The DNC and RNC have put us here because they will not promote a wider variety of people.
How about Jamie Raskin, Katie Porter, Elizabeth Warren, Pete Buttigieg, Senator Whitehouse to name a few. I agree. After each lie they should have reviewed and corrected his lies point by point. And don't tell me that wasn't the format, because with that felon involved it should have been the format. Sorry, I know too many people who are clueless about most of this. Where was the Joe Biden from the State of the Union? Thank you, Robert and Heather,
Meidas Youch has reported about President Biden newest speech in NC and showed clips from it. It was wonderful. And we have to remember he had done trips to our in Europe and had a cold and had on top this debate and to listen to that other guy former P45 made up stories. As a younger many would have had difficulty to keep up with such schedule and not put haevy criticism onto Pres. Biden for the debate. He did a great job the next day.
ugh. stop buying into the media narrative and realize that this was a terrible idea from the start, as there is no debating someone who is unconsstrained by basic facts or reality. Biden had a bad performance but the event itself had 0 value in selecting a president, it was a dog and pony show that was meant to line CNN's pockets. The ESPNification of politics will sink us.
The shallowness of the US electorate! Style over substance. Idiots vote for the person that has the best campaign, not the person who could do the best job!
President Biden had 2 back to back flights to Europe last week. Why did they schedule the debate to coincide with Supreme Court decisions due? The timing seems deliberately coordinated to create confusion.
I'm very far left (left of progressive) and this seems like a poor excuse. You think the Biden team can't manage its own schedule and choose when to fly? That they didn't have a major say in when the debate was scheduled?
exactly. We know that there's ever only a crisis after nap-time. It is absurd to expect a President to be able to stay lucid for an hour if he's just had a plane flight!
CNN commentator flat out said to Trump, "You can do whatever you want with your minute" (in response to the criticisms here that they didn't challenge him to tell the truth - they didn't even try to get him to answer the actual question at all) I watched parts of the "debate" replays just today and noticed this.
Unfortunately, those were the rules of the debate. What really made me angry was that Trump was allowed to carry on way past his allotted time, especially in his rebuttals, which pretty much was all he did - give rebuttals. Or should I say, in his words, refuddles 🤔😵💫
I'm concerned about violence on July 11 - Trump Sentencing. The choices are Trump in Jail, Trump house arrest, or a slap on the wrist despite being found guilty on 34 felonies. Imagine literally anyone else being found guilty of 34 felonies and what the punishment would be. This sentencing will be the nail in the coffin as to the age old question of whether we actually have a multi-tiered judicial system.
Great video, imagine you u work for 40yrs to have $1M in your retirement, meanwhile some people are putting just $10K into trading from just a few months ago and now they are multimillionaires..
I thank Laura Jennifer Reeves who has always been there to help me with detailed analysis and recommendations that I would not have had access to otherwise.
YES! That is exactly her name (Laura Jennifer Reeves). I saw her interview on CNN News and so many people highly recommended her and her trading skills❤️
After raising 325k from trading with her, I bought a new house and car here in the states and also paid for my son's (Oscar) surgery, Glory be to God. Shalom
I’m still ridin’ with Biden🥳 The guy had a very bad night-I groaned the whole 90 minutes. He is a fighter and we must be too!! Let’s not throw him under the bus at this late stage.
Biden was physically ill during the debate. He had a bad cold, sore throat and probably bronchitis. He was struggling to breathe because of the illness. Still he spoke as loudly as he could. This whole thing was not due to Joe's lack of ability. It was one debate. Never underestimate Joe Biden.
@@FantasticOttoI just don’t think it’s feasible to get another candidate in at this juncture. The least we can do is keep Trump away from the White House. Biden has a lot of wise and sophisticated people who can help him if needed, while Trump will cram the DOJ and open judgeships with unqualified loyalists
@@davesnothere.People aren't supporting him. They're supporting leftist ideals and preserving democracy. Nobody actually wants Joe but if we vote third party we lose to Trump and we may never vote again. Now, if you want to see a cult, look for the MAGAS with the hats and Trump bibles and flags. The ones who truly think he's chosen by God. Those people are terrifying.
The role of the SC in the last decades was: Take the interests of big money and big corporations and change the interpretation of the constitution, so that it fits best these interests. It is all about the interests of big money -- AND never about the normal citizen.
Robert, please don't worry about keeping the Klatch upbeat. You often seem almost apologetic for being straightforward about these terrifying times. Fascism just isn't an upbeat topic. Please keep giving us your opinion honestly. Your voice is very needed right now.
Just because Progressives can ask the question doesn't mean they have to act on it. This is a lack of commitment to anything, in my book. I will support Joe Biden because he is a successful President, and as a bonus, it seems as though he has actually read the Constitution and honors the Law.
If the captain of the ship is unfit for command, then he must be replaced. Allowing him to continue based on his previous accomplishments is a fool's logic.
@@FantasticOtto The tricky thing in this case is that Biden - despite observed flaws - is a clearly better president than Trump. Biden never has been my preferred candidate, but he is far far far far far better than Trump.
@@qwertyuiopgarthBiden has a proven track record of winning against Trump, he pulls in a broad coalition with Kamala Harris. Biden won't be fooled again. Next day he came out swinging against Trump's insanity.
@@qwertyuiopgarth I think the biggest danger isn't what he could do in the office if he suddenly went full dementia (VP and Co would take the reigns), but rather that his condition will probably cost him the election, and secure Trump his second term. It was absolute maddness to not prop up another, younger candidate from the start. There are many previously undecided who will now vote Trump, and their numbers will grow. The republican party is the party of old men and old ideas. Their ways are outdated and they've been dying a slow death for the last 40+ years. This is why the've gone so ape-shit right-wing propaganda mode recently; to stir up chaos and resentment against the other side and slow the envitable. So why do the democrats back the oldest candidate in history? It completely deflates their advantage of being the party of tomorrow.
If we want to preserve our Democracy then voting BLUE will stop Trump. Right now, some people are in panic mode. But we cannot forget what Trump has in store for America if he wins and enacts his "2025 manifesto". WOW. that manifesto is so frightening! #VoteBlue
As an Independent I have a lot of respect overall for Biden and what he’s accomplished. At the same time you couldn’t pay me enough money to vote for a piece of filth like Trump. I think the best situation is to replace him with someone younger like a Newsom so he can demolish Trump in the next debate and save our democracy. That’s what’s at stake right now, democracy, and it is not a joke.
I have a spine and I am voting for President Biden. Do you know exactly what it takes to start a campaign. Maybe you should read up on that before you ask for him to be replaced.🤔
@@marianned346 I never said I wouldn’t vote for Biden. I would vote for anyone other than Trump but I’m worried about others that don’t understand the consequences of this election.
I found the debate had a double standard. And i would have been addled by the constant lying myself. Trump the expectation was he wouldn't start fires. No one would have commented if Trump pooped himself. Biden went in to it expecting policy, and he spent most of the time trying to comprehend what world Trump was living in... I think Trump doesnt think he lives in our reality.
Thank you to both of you for that talk. It's 3.30 am here in Australia. I was asleep and then woke to worry about America. It helps that you told us to sleep well. I'll do that now after your realistic but also reassuring talk. You're both wonderful.
I’m in Oregon, solidly blue (although my own House rep must be flipped!), and I just want to know that We the People can still have a voice! I’ve been writing postcards to voters in Ohio reminding them to register for vote-by-mail, and I’ll do what I’m able until election eve. But the takeover by the Supreme Court and the GOP solidly backing an obviously sociopathic dictator, has really left me feeling like these billionaires and corporations are winning. We MUST win in November or I fear We the People will no longer be relevant in our own country(except as vehicles to enrich the wealthy). We can do this, friends, right?? LFG!💙💙💙
You say Gretchen is "on everyone's list" but she's not on any list I've seen. The time to look for another candidate was 4 years ago like I've been saying for 4 yrs! It's too damn late at this point. Blame the DNC!
Makes you wonder why the DNC elites didn’t want others democrats to challenge Biden. They had to know how much he’s declined mentally and physically and yet they kept telling us he’s fine.
Bernie has name recognition, a huge base & could LITERALLY run🏃♂️circles around TFG the entire debate & still wipe the floor w him! But establishment Dems would rather lose.😔
Bernie would not be able to win the presidency in this country at this time. Democrats, even Bernie, are standing behind Biden because they're trying to win. Just sayin', a lot of angry Bernie supporters threw their votes to Trump in 2016, helping Trump get to the top.
19:00. Respectfully, I think you are wrong. Yes, the debate was not great (understatement of the century), but if you care to watch videos of undecided voters, they are not turning en masse to Trump. Biden was not good, but Trump was such a cataract of lies and insults that everyone who is not MAGA could see him as what he is. Democrats are worried, and justly so, but remember: Trump got 3 million fewer votes than Hillary, and got 7 million fewer votes than Joe, and that was *before* January 6 (plus the hearings), the stolen documents, the prosecutions, the appeal for total immunity, the 34 convictions, and so much more. People noticed Trump talked stronger, only his fans think he talked better. The worst things that could happen are: - Voting like crazy and electing Bifen anyway (plus Democrat lawmakers, don't forget that!). If things go bad, you'll end up with the Woodrow Wilson presidency after his stroke. If things go very bad, you'll have President Harris. Still better than Trump. - The Democrats make a bold move and elect someone else in their convention, or Joe steps down, whatever. I cannot think of any Democrat politician for whom most people (never Trumpers, independents, moderates, unaffiliated, raging liberals) wouldn't vote instead of Trump. Please notice, there are several stars in the Democrat Party; in the Trumpist side - you see. There is not a Republican Party anymore. - The worst thing by far would be not voting or voting third party. Think climate change, Putin, NATO, international trade, Covid still is around. The whole world will suffer if the USA becomes a fascist dictatorship. Trump won the last time mostly for the people who preferred Sanders to Clinton and didn't vote. Look what they got instead. Chilean here. We defeated a 16 years-long dictatorship with the vote. You have an unique chance of *preventing it.* And you know how to do it. Go and vote. After that, get rid of the Electoral College. It is not serving you well.
But it's not the undecided that you have to worry about voting for Trump, I think Biden turned them off from going to the polls to vote because he's so feeble and borderline senile
One of the aspects of President Biden’s poor performance at the debate that no one has talked about is the mistakes that were possibly made in his preparations. There must have been dozens of talented people getting President Biden ready for the debate. Did they get the President too tired during the preparations, did they not make sure he got plenty of sleep and rest before the debate, did they not keep a careful eye on his physical condition leading up to the debate? I am a few years younger than President Biden and I know that I need my rest before doing a physically stressful job coming up in a few days.
The Scotus is off the rails. For decades, judges have generally deferred to the expertise of administrators in the regulatory process. Congress defers to administrative agencies. They know they are not experts. Somewhat vague legislation is a strategy to get a majority to get it passed. If there is overreach, the President and Congress can rein in administrative agencies. So today's SCOTUS has decided that judges are the real experts on matters such as telecommunications, the environment, tax law, etc. Not amusing.
Robert, this is nothing like Nixon. If Trump win's I truly don't know if our Democracy can get through that. Especially with the Supreme Court Judges we have now.
