It's a lot more campy than other shows, but I think that's part of what makes people like it (or dislike it). It's not my favorite, personally. But I get the charm.
i totally forgot about that part where luna falls for shinn after he "kills" her love interest and sister, actually peak comedy. amazing recap, thank you for putting this together!
In the Drama CD, even Meyrin was like "What the heck?!" at first and said, "You're dating the guy who shot down Athrun and me?!" And for some reason, she started using it as a joke in conversations
😂 reminds me of flay blaming kira of the death of her father girl supposed to use and hate kira to go against his kind yet had sex and falls in love with him 😂 i think it's a red haired girl thing? HAHAHA
Man, your recap of SEED and SEED Destiny were insane, absolutely amazing, you reminded me of how amazing these shows are. Your 2 videos were so good and funny I had to rewatch them twice! I love your style of retelling the story and I love how you emphasized certain things in the story, like how you painted Athrun as a Murdering psychopath as a joke, it was absolutely hilarious and made Athrun seem much more badass than he already was! Your commentating skills are very good, you were very entertaining to listen to and very funny! Please man, please, do more recaps like this for other Gundam shows. I would love to watch a recap you make of a Gundam show that I never even watched.
Not a subber so I have to admit I was actually apprehensive about clicking this video, thinking it was another hate/whine video about my favourite Gundam series. After enduring 20 years of hate, it's become second nature now. But then I just said "eh eff it", and it turns out this video is probably the best recap vid on the series I've seen, reserving jokes for only the most ridiculous parts that even I poke fun at (everything Lunamaria lol). Now I'm sharing it with my friends who haven't watched FREEDOM yet but are interested. I've always loved SEED/Destiny as a series, and FREEDOM just solidifies that I'll always love it regardless of all the hate and misinformation westerners spew about it. So thanks for this. At least there's one great video that objectively recaps Destiny without bias.
"After enduring 20 years of hate" if someone is bashing a tv show with "hate" and without any constructive and meaningful things to say, why would you care or watch/listen to sth like this ...this however isn't a case for Seed and GSD, especially GSD, any video on it pretty much deconstructs how those are conceptually flawed if not braindead series and I'm low-key surprised that you admit this being a prevailing opinion and not noticing that maybe, just maybe, everyone else aside from you is onto something
This is crazy and i mean crazy. I saw your gundam seed recap last night and i couldn't find a gundam seed freedom recap. Thinking dang i wanna see your seed destiny recap before i watch the movie. Literally just over 4 hours ago. Haha. Now i just woke up and this video is here. Most awesome
Am I the only one who noticed the extremely satisfied look Waltfeld had on his face when he was finally able to use his gun arm. Makes me laugh every time.
Thank you for the recap. I’ve rewatched this seed/seed destiny series more than 20 times over the 20 years (from age 12 until 32), your recap doesn’t missed out any single details. Goodjob 🎉
Another great job. This was a perfect follow up to your seed recap and I would recommend both of these too my friends who need a tldr before watching SEED Freedom
Why watching this recap makes the Destiny series not bad at all compared to when we first watched it? Possibly the series phasing was chaotic that time so it was not explained well. Again, another great recap. More power to this channel.
These videos are phenomenal! I'd love to see you do the same for the UC/other standalone Gundam properties! Thanks so much for taking the time to put these together; they're beyond helpful for folks like me who missed SEED when they were kids and now, as you posit, don't have time to catch up.
Love your Full Series Explained videos, I hope you can make more of it from all the previous series for both the animated and mangga ones like the Team Titans and Astray.
damn they really close the potential for another season with the peak engineering. Shinn changed from a brainless bipolar kid to a kid with kira daddy issues forwards the man that made him orphan.
He's always been puppy like towards his superiors and Kira had higher military rank than him in GSF. However, based on an interview with Fukuda, Fukuda said that Shinn felt dependent towards Athrun. We don't actually see it because Athrun has barely 10 mins screentime in the movie.
"The man who made him orphan" Kira/Freedom actually defended ORB from Orga/Calamity in that scene. Without Kira/Freedom, Shinn would've died along with his family.
I dont care, the introduction of Strike freedom is the best one, however its only as epic as it should be in original tv version, remaster for ungodly reason changed music when strike freedom is introduced. When you watch remaster I FULLY advice to watch at least that scene in original 39 episode.
Thank you so much for still using the FPS hitmarker sound effect evertime somebody hit someone or make a kill! It made my day😂! Edit: Watching it further, it was hilarious and horrifying at the same time.
They were Athrun exclusive in the first video - then I said "Let's extend them cause they're funny" and two seconds later I realized I was gonna have to do it for Kira's Full Burst and Stella
Athrun was not in the room during that last encounter with Gil in the original version. He was added in the Final Plus edit released after the original broadcast ended, and this version is used in the HD remaster. IMO the original version is better as the speculation was either Kira finally shoot someone with a gun after 99 episodes of not doing so, or whether someone shot Kira.
For sure - the only thing I really appreciate about this is that Athrun, in terms of key plot development, had the most relevance to these characters where as Kira never really saw or spoke with any of them till that moment. So it can offer a bit more closure - but I definitely agree with your points!
I guess she finally realised that she didn't want a child more than she wanted Durandal. It kinda makes her look bad because she originally broke up with Durandal because she desired a child. In the she always selfishly follows her desires at the cost of people. She is partly responsible for turning Durandal into an extremist then she's responsible for causing her son to feel abandoned.
God, I fucking these shows. Why is Lowe Guele the only likable protagonist in the entirety of the cosmic era? Oh that’s right, it’s because he’s not a whiny, pretentious dork.
So essentially blue cosmo is the Celestial Being but for coordinators which means flay’s death was essentially just killing off a not so loved character? Yeah now I think Setsuna is just showing gundam seed 4 years later that the backstories won’t meet the harsh backstories of gundam 00
I don't get the hate SEED and Destiny got from westerners(yeah I'm talk about all of you Wingtard). Yeah it have some flaws but the characters and MS are very memorable and cool. it also have one the best gundam Char's clone(literally).
Pretty much no suspense. destiny n movie have the weakest antagonist of all gundam show. Even gym gingham who have zero combat experience is much more threatening than those 2 wimp. Also kira keep getting innocent people killed due to his stupid believe is tiring.
I've only just discovered you, but I gotta say you put out some of the most well edited gundam videos on youtube. Thanks for doing the recap, I can't wait to watch Freedom after this :)
The main reason why foundation is so strong was stealing ZGMF-X20A Strike Freedom Gundam six months prior to the events of the Gundam Seed Freedom movie. If you watch Gundam Seed Destiny then you know that both ZGMF-X20A Strike Freedom Gundam, and ZGMF-X19A Infinite Justice Gundam were the strongest mobile suits from Second Alliance-PLANT War. Ps. The soundtrack is really badass in both Gundam Seed, and Destiny anime show.
And Sunrise unfortunately couldn't afford to have Nishikawa for the entirety of both shows, which resulted on both his characters being killed off only partway through. Fans have also speculated that Shiho (one of Yzak's team members) could've suffered the same fate had Nami Tamaki become her VA.
27:20 😂 actually the akatsuki was in research and development hell for most of ce71 - ce73 and only just finished testing during the second orb war. The anti beam coating "yata no kagami" was notorious for being impossibly difficult to apply + maintain as well as having being so expensive that it requires the same money to make 20+ astray on orbs military budget lol 32:25 the reason cagalli stays behind was because her va left mid production. This was at the height of seed behind the scene production scandal.
Yep. SEED Destiny had a lot of production issues. Hell it was so bad that they had to make a revised version of the ending aka Final Plus: The Chosen Future. Man what a mess.
Seed Destiny is what reinvigorated my love of Gundam. I bought every DVD until I had the full series. This show got me through a lot of tough times during Middle School. I loved it… until Kira (Jesus) Yamato returned, messed everything up, got Heine killed, and killed Stella. I was so happy when Kira was defeated by Shinn, but then Jesus tier plot armor happens and he cheats death… AGAIN! But then he redeems himself when Chairman D, Shinn, and Rey lost their collective minds. He once again brought balance to the force lol. Destiny gets a lot of criticism (mostly because of Shinn I think), but I loved it. Thank you for making this video!
Heine's gundam must've been poorly maintain because there wasn't any alarm going off to convey enemies behind him.. Edit: Luna: you killed my sister?... that is so hot.
As a kid, I watched because of interest but watching it as an adult, no wonder there are a lot of fanfictions of fixing GSD. Man, Cosmic Era had that potential, A MOUNTAIN OF IT. I see new characters with potential but it's a wishful thinking to see them reach their full potential. Lunamaria can only be accurate IF THE PLOT WANTS TO! Sad, as she's my favourite redhead waifu. Competent female MS pilots only exist in the 1980's I guess. Cagalli in GSD felt like a different person, now that Naomi Shindou no longer reprise that role forever, perhaps that the fallout was beyond repair. Meyrin reminds of Flay with her hair down and that hair colour. The Saviour is the true wasted potential of a mobile suit so is the other original CE designs. Those UC designs look out of place even if it's to celebrate 25th anniversary of Gundam. About the pacifist thing, it's as if as they try to make Kira a Kenshin. Funny how my rewatch of SEED count is higher than Destiny though, I have more comfort in watching SEED all the way through than Destiny. I'm waiting for Stargazer.
destiny plan....all cuz durandal wasn't able to be with talia cuz he's infertile...so he wanted the world to follow him living based on his destiny, & probably why talia decided to commit suicide in the end.
@@trollinoakenshield9822 no...but the point here in the plot isn't to show she did the "right" choice, but rather a choice influenced by guilt. humans are complex.
Murrue was probably confused about what she will say to Talia's son. I mean, saying "Sorry kid, your Mom would rather die with her former boyfriend than continue living as your mother." to him would be a sick burn 😅
@@androyus Except no one but Talia and Durandal knew they were formerly a couple. They have a one night stand and doesn't seem like anybody. Murrue certainly doesn't. We the audience know, but that doesn't mean the characters know. I know you're intending to make a joke, but it just doesn't make sense because Murrue would have no way of knowing Talia was formerly Durandal's lover.
Can you please do this for EVERY other gundam series/movies/ovas? I love listening to them and i like the comedic dialogue and edits. If not, its still fine, but i hope you do this for a few more gundam media pieces. Thanks!
if you guys want my opinion, Chairman Durandal doesn't get to decide the fate, or destiny, of humanity on a whim, we get to make our own choices, not by some chairman's delusional pot dream.
In my school vr game Shin played a major role in the game and has a very kind moment from Goalius (Goalius was protecting a converted so he made a deal that if any converted is found by ZAFT don't kill them but only knock them out so the people of Goalius hometown could actually reverse the process which during so Goalius stated that if they did he will revive Shin girlfriend which Shin had a flashback to it and him in the destiny Gundam were feeling emotional so Goalius hugged him)
highly competent recap, but there's also a lot of context that can't be included in a 40 minute video, so i'd say watching destiny for the full experience is still recommended destiny is best experienced blind imo
These SEED recaps are great! I love the bits where you point out the silliness of these shows sometimes. Idk if you're gonna make recaps for other Gundam shows, but if you do make them, I' sure they'll be great too.
I just want to point out that the massive blast during the Freedom vs Impulse fight is intended to be from the Minerva’s positron beam cannon not from the Freedom blowing up. A lot of fans read that scene wrong, and I don’t blame them. It’s really unclear, even after the HD version tried to make it more clear.
