Fun fact from a Chicagoan here...in the 90s, many large yt companies & CHA got together to fund baseball (boy) & softball (girls) teams in the housing projects around the city. All of the teams were coached by someone from the company sponsoring and had African tribe names (lowkey racist as hell when u think about it). I played for the pondo’s softball team (we were trash). Long story short, if you grew up in the Chicago projects during the 90s, you know how to play baseball & softball, and this movie makes sense. Also, we all cried when G baby died that felt tooo real, The actor big head ass is still in Chicago.

I grew up in Harlem NY. We had a team called south harlem reds. Our field was next to our projects. We went to Cooperstown witch was the first most of us got out the city. believe it or not this movie hits home for me. i grew up in the pjs and we had a baseball field right in the middle of it just like in this movie. summers were lit. even for not having cellphones in the 90s we didnt need to call each other cause we already knew if it wasnt raining to meet at the field. Most of the people who were on my team were from my block too. some of the best talent in the whole state developed on that field. it def wasnt so scary walking home after dark like the movie makes it look...but it was still the hood and once in a blue hood things happened. since we all pretty much lived next to each other we all walked home in a group anyway

I lived over there when this movie was made. They blocked off a section of the area in a corner with these tall bluish walls. Had no idea what they were making till years later. Still dope! Those projects were gone. They're an All-Star ✨️ (Sorta, there were drugs being sold [most-likely] )
