Real shame, this game series kept me distracted while my parents argued in the other room when I was like what 10-13? Mainly the devil's cartel, I had all 3 but well I lost them...I hope the series returns
me and my best friend discovered the first AoT in 2009 in our early highschool days and loved it to 100% 360 completion same with the T40D Devls cartel didnt see as much love as he had moved quite a far distance away for higher education and our couch coop days were numbered by the time the game launched
People may have been too hyper critical of the last installment of the series. Hands down one of the best co-op shooters... I miss playing it so much, it was a lot of fun! Quite frankly, struggling to find something of the same caliber on ps5
the issue with the devils cartel was that it had a lot of good features but took away so much that made the game unique, not to mention the story was absolutely horrendous
This game would do incredible now a days. I remember playing 40th day. Using a soda can as a suppressor. Camos and masks were amazing. I miss this game. I wish it would get remastered.
I remember back in 360 days I had a friend on xbl that I knew from another school. We weren't really tight irl but we happened to be playing it at the same time and we linked up that night to play it. We became really good friends after beating it. Had some really good memories playing this series. I don't really think the IP needs a revival but the gimmicks and features do. There's definitely something like this missing in today's market.
Army of two is part of what is called AA games, games which have a lower budget and a shorter production time. This is a contributing factor that EA has been able to pump out 3 games so quickly. Nowadays AA games are mostly dead, due to gaming costs have gone up. So EA will probably only invest in releasing their AAA titles ... Such as Dead space, Crysis, Need for speed,
You can tell they were rushing the original AoT game... story elements left hanging. But even then, god that game was fun - and the way Salem and Rios interacted there was easily better than any other in the series.
The writing was brilliant. The conversations Rios and Salem had gave the players a view of their true character which came to a boiling point in the final game. Spoiler!
I've played all 3 soo Army Of Two is pretty good can be a little bit difficult at first but after that it's pretty smooth sailing after that you've got Army Of Two the 40th day is pretty much an overall improvement on the original with wild weapon customization and class variety (unfortunately there's only 3 secondaries no smg secondaries but there is a G18 so you've got one automatic secondary but you can also replace your special with another primary if you want so they at least thought about that) but to be honest it's got a decent difficulty curve till you understand (and eventually master) the gameplay can't forget the moral choices that really make you think before you act overall I love it and I'm currently playing on the high difficulty... Then you've got devils cartel overall it's dogshit... I mean it's a massive disappointment (and I'm also actively playing that in tandem with 40th day) in comparison especially since they leaned heavily into the cover shooting aspects along with slowing character sprint, dialed back weapon load out and customization ,removed explosive launchers (least the ones that weren't under barrel), under barrel shotguns, removed the automatic secondaries completely and made the handguns pretty shitty can't even really customize em beyond camos, you've got explosive bullets (which pretty much break the game cause you can get em on a semi auto AR), LMG's that are very inaccurate (and pretty much useless once you've got the AR drum mags available), snipers that are 95% of the time useless because of map design, shotguns that pretty feel weak beyond 5ft (and the dragons breath sucks not to mention the spas 12 that ONLY shoots slugs), smgs that are a mixed bag for use (I mean a 2 round burst smg, one that has little damage and a slow fire rate, one that had a massive mag as well as a high firerate, a ump45 and a Vector) and are otherwise useless compared to AR's especially 1 in particular (a constant trend) and MK16 exists which is pretty much the best AR overall for use and while the M1 is broken cause of explosive rounds but isn't still isn't as good cause it doesn't fire full auto and doesn't have drum mags... And they pretty much neutered agro in favor of some bs damage boosting (and if both players trigger it while the other has it active you get slow mo) infinite ammo invincibility mode that while limited per full charge can trivialize everything you encounter
I played all these games with my dad, and man... I have some of the greatest times of my life and with my dad playing these games. I really fucking hope these games come back one day
I remember watching a gaming broadcasting show "Epilictic gaming" which had a mini series where they were up all night playing different new titles. Army of Two was one of their games, which was fun to watch them play (Even if they were bad at the game) In my own case, this was a game that I have had a tradition of playing once a summer.
I have been trying to revisit some of the games I played when I was younger and this was one of the best series I had played right next to FEAR and Borderlands. I hate that there aren’t very many good couch coop games any more I played those thing nonstop with my pals, absolutely loved them.
I played this game when I was a youngin. I remember during summer break I would always wake up, go to my uncle's room where the PS3 was and play this game from start to end literally everyday. Playing this game today will hit me hard with nostalgia. Might even be a little emotional. I really wish I could play this on my PS5 now that I have gotten older and have a better understanding in video games.
I'd love to see a remake or remaster of this game. Me and my best friend played the shit out of it back in the day. Or at least something with the agro mechanics it had. Makes shooters fun imo
I really liked 40th day TBH. My biggest complaint is that the campaign was too short and instead of making the mask customization an in game feature they used it to shill their website that no longer exists.
They killed the franchise twice. One with 40th and the second one with devils cartel. We just wanted more of the 1st game. None of all those stupid plots
I had a blast playing through the games. The third was for sure the weakest, though. I didn't like that they had players not playing the two main characters for this round, but they also completely changed the personalities. From a Salem that was more worried about Rios' favorite Wu Tang member in the middle of a firefight, changing to a hardened and uncaring criminal really brought the series down, IMHO
Ever since this game, whenever my friends and I are playing another game and we will do something to get the enemies' attention, we say that we will get the aggro.
I've just started playing this last week and this video popped up 🤣🤣 as a child I always get my mate around after school to play this I've got a hard copy of 1 and 2. I'll probably be more happy if they brought a remaster from the first one instead of bringing out a new game, it was part of an era of good games it should stay there ♥️
I bought the trilogy a few days ago for console. I don't like online games anymore, I just want to call a friend to come to my house, speak about the craziness and things of the people here last week (you can't do that online, because the online friends usually lives in a complete different place with a complete different people) and drink a coffee, a beer or whatever we like, between the briefings of devils cartel. I can't prefer online, I feel this more real and rewarding with the social life
Growing up I absolutely was OBSESSED with Devil's Cartel. I've played the first game but have not beaten it yet, and have yet to play the 40th day. I wish these games would come to steam because i would 100% snatch them in a heartbeat no matter the price. These games will always hold a special place in my heart no matter how bad the actual game itself is.
Certainly hope this franchise comes back one of these days, even if the chances are extremely slim. I got a lot of enjoyment out of them. Or at the very least, I would love to see these games remastered and ported to PC, especially because Devil Cartel's character customization was so good.
The first AoT was a great, fun shooter, i replayed it recently on the old 360 and it's still awesome, wish we had a trilogy remastered. Also Resistance should have a UHD remastered Collection! The only con: you had to play online to complete the dlcs...
I love the Army of Two series. The first game while a little clunky was fun and showed the potential. The second game improved on the mechanics and introduced the branching storylines. The third game was a Frankenstein of other titles and while I enjoyed it could have been better. I would love to see a remaster or full remake of the first one but I don't think EA sees the value in it. I wish EA would put out surveys for fans to vote on titles we would like to see remade
Recuerdo que en mi psp tenía el army of Two 40th Day… En mi antigua ps3 con mi papá nos complétamos el army of two 1 y el 3 (The Devil’s Cartel) Haría lo que fuera por poder jugarlos de vuelta… mi ps3 está rota…
Yeah this franchise needs a comeback, I'm gonna say the same thing I posted on Ed's playthrough : I actually love the silly gameplay, the aggro system and the customization ; it's just the story, the AI, and level design are really bad and made the franchise run out of steam quite fast
I'd say there just aren't enough games that play like AoT :/ Also a disturbing lack of solid co-op games coming out these days. I've been replaying this series on and off for a few months and I'm about to restart TDC, but man, it really disappoints me that only the first is compatible with modern Xbox hardware (and _none_ of them got PC releases!). EA just sorta dropped the whole thing, but I'd say that it could be a solid idea to head back for another game.. Only expanded! Imagine four buddies taking on onjectives in pairs or something :3 Ghost Recon: Wildlands did a pretty good job scratching a similar itch, haha :3 But yeah, I'd say that a remaster (brought to PC as well, of course) is probably ideal. Especially since the latter two were delisted several months ago as of now >~< I did get something of a response from Skullcandy on Facebook recently when I joked about talking to EA about remasters or a sequel in the comments on a recent post (there's a set of Skullcandy armor in TDC, so it felt loosely relevant!), but it didn't feel like they were all that serious about pursuimg that. Ah well, at least I caught a little attention :3
I would love to see this game made with updated graphics and gameplay it would be a good game if done right and there could be a option where you play with someone else online as your partner whether you know the person or not kind of like a short term sharing co op
I wish they didn’t make the 3rd one for a cash grab but they should have took the time to make it better and maybe should have waited for a few more years to make it
It really bugged me that at the bare minimum they could've given us lan play. I played the hell out of this game with my best friend, and it breaks my heart that not only is not not playable online, but it isn't even playable through lan.
I played this with my late little brother... I wish he was still alive. I haven't played a coop game since he passed away. Sometimes I see new coop games and then I wish he was alive to play them with me. I play only single player games these days.
AoT was one of the few games that focused on co-op game play heavily, sure there are many games that had co-op in them original Halos for example, Unreal Tournament. But AoT stands out cause the story line and game play centered on co-op. The story is basically two badasses with two different personalities going out into the mercenary world, working TOGETHER to take down warlords, Chinese games, and a ECO of a major Mrrcenary firm. But always TOGETHER on screen, watch each other's back, and shooting what is in front. That story idea and then centered game mechanics on this idea made this game a classic, showing gaming something important but ultimately has been ignored. Players love co-op gaming. They love to fight/problem solve situations in a team, explore an environment to find secrets with best buds, to be able to brag about skill or epic clutch moments in a game. This is why streaming is at an all time high of popularity, the shared experience in that single moment in time. We, the gaming community, honestly need more games like this, making it easier for friends and communities to play together, instead of focusing on single play experiences, or "patching" in co-op down the line. Make a game for co-op, with great story and writing, experimenting game mechanics, and lastly make the AI smart enough to be a challenge for a wide range of players to grind their skills on. That would be an epic game to see happen.
We need more of these types of games to play co-op with friends and could've been interesting for new players who didn't get a chance to play these games in it's full glory or potential back in the days.
The multiplayer of 40th day was absolutely amazing. 2v2v2v2 online. Shooting around corners and over cover its was one of the best 3rd person shooters I’ve ever played.
I used to love playing this game all the time don't understand why it never got expanded very similar to Freedom Fighters in a way. I hope there's a return for this game it definitely caught the consumer's I and the storyline was awesome so I hope it makes a return and it's more popular with multiplayer and other stuff with it. I want to see spec Ops the Line come back too along with freedom fighters that was made from L.O Interactive
Split screen with a buddy back in the day, raining fire down a destroyed skyscraper, he with regular guns and i with golden AK47 with some ww2 looking gun shield at the front of it. hahaha! One thing i remember was a boss battle, scene with the big bald guy in bomb squad armor, snuffing out a smoke with his boot, man the hype!.
Games aren't harder to make. Games with microtransaction, and surprise mechanics are hard to make. These types of game became easier to make, and waaaay cheaper too. While you would need a team of 100~150 people to make a game, today with a team of 40 you could have the same level of game. Don't be fooled by the publisher bullshit discourse.
Man this game had an impact on a specific group of people. It lives in our hearts and if you haven’t played it the way it’s intended, you just couldn’t relate. Hope your homies go over split screen with you.
I remember the rumored Army of Four game to have four player co-op. What a missed opportunity. They still can revive the series. It's definitely time for a reboot. No continuation. Just start from the ground up. New mechanics. New engine. New gameplay modes. Implement a multiplayer and co-op multiplayer Battle Royale. Make micro-transactions very minimal. Just for cosmetic purposes. No pay Battle Passes. Free Seasonal Updates. Who am I kidding? EA only makes pay to play games now only.
Devils Cartel wasn’t bad. It was my first duo shooter and Army of Two game that I’d played. It was good except sometimes it would ask you to press square or triangle on a boss run interaction and wouldn’t work which led to death and starting all over. Aside from that, I loved playing it and I liked that tag team combo
The aggravating thing is that resident evil gets remade 19 times over and over but we can't get a remake of army of two something that would be co-op online you could be in different groups but maximum of two players in each group with a great story line and Salem and Rios before that shitstorm they call devil's cartel😊
I found my dads old xbox 360 and it had borderlands/cod black ops 2 and army of two Im not great at borderlands but i completed the call of duty game Ima try army of two
I’ve had the pleasure to almost finish Army Of Two with a friend couch coop style and wanna say on its own the story might not be good but with a friend it’s a damn blast. Rios and Salems relationship is so wholesome to witness and aggroing to save my friend and likewise is amazing. I’ll have to bust the 360 out for 40th day if we get to it
They had army of two, army of two the 40th day and another one about the Mexican cartel all three games where killer I wish I could at least buy them again but they aren’t on the store. Why is it the better games you can’t purchase anymore? Like LFD and LFD2
My bro and I dominated this game. We were always an army of two and coop game games were always the best. Ayed both games but never got to AOT3 just because it didn't look interesting.
Hear me out … rebrand it Army of Six with both Main protagonists become the team leaders for the other 3, letting you be able to play with more friends, More ways to flank enemies an maybe bring something to like Team Aggro an solo Aggro. Allowing for all sorts a replay ability
I remember going through my older brothers old xbox 360 games and I saw the second game covered in dust so I decided to boot it up with my younger brother and then that's where my love of this game kinda cam from. I was always wondering what happened to the series and well this is what happened with it I guess. It's a shame this game met such a end and I would spend money to buy a remastered or even 4th game. Genuinely hope this game returns better then ever.
The only problem with the devils cartel I could see is the game sense because you cannot pick your character like the first two and the story, the story is so ass and is an absolute betrayal to the first two and all the old gamers
