I still watch Andy Griffith every night, its on from 4:00 to 8:00 and even if I'm not watching, its on in the background its just comforting somehow. Its too bad she could not appreciate being such a beloved character all those years. My favorite episode is Bargain Day with the freezer..."just call the man!!:
I LOOO0VE The Andy Griffith Show!!! My fav epi is when Aunt Bee started feeling exhausted more often & her Dr. told her it was bc she "isn't a Spring chicken anymore" -- & she ends up buying a miracle elixir from a street "medicine man" to help her -- but it's just whiskey & when Andy gets home, she's drunk banging on the piano with Opie singing & slurring her words! AWESOME vlog Jordan!!!
@@sherrihinton8567 She was so full of happiness in that episode. Nothing brings me a bigger smile than her and Opie singing "Too too tootsie goodbye...too too Tootsie don't cryyyy" LOVE IT TOO!
Isn't that the greatest. Just the way she says Spring Chicken Anymore lol. And then when she's spinning on the stool at the piano. Barney, when did you get here lol.
Beautiful House, sad that she lived the way she did towards the end. I've always Loved her Character. Watching those old episodes never gets old. Great Vlog, Jordan ! :)
"Wow", what a beautiful women in her youthful days . I loved her and the show. This show helped if both parents were working . It was cool that grandma babysitter. Bless all there souls . Thank you for this video . Love to Ja💜
Wow, she was such a beautiful young lady. I don’t have any empathy for her though for the Aunt Bee label. She landed the role of a lifetime and thousands of actors would love that big of a role.
@@leagueG5 Katharine Hepburn said it best. She said these actors on their way up spend all their time saying, "Look at me! Look at me! Look at me!" and once they've made it, it becomes, "Leave me alone! Leave me alone! Leave me alone!" That's their gratitude to their fans, I guess.
Enjoyed the vid Jordan. Neat seeing Aunt Bea's house. I live in South Carolina and app 45 mins away from Bishopville. How neat it would've been to have met you 🌹💖
💋Such a great memorial Vlog! This brings back memories of my dad watching this show in the evenings. Totally remember the pickles episode and I remember the Darlings episodes well. Safe travels this summer. Love to Jah! ~L&L♥️C.
Aunt Bea such a loveable women. wow she was a beautiful lady when she was young, it's amazing how we change throughout the years. nice story, she's never forgotten although not by her namd, but Aunt Bea. thanks Jordan and Jah stay safe
Great episode !!! Watching it I realized what a big part of my childhood Aunt Bee played. Such a symbol of strength and Americana. Thanks for the insights on an American Icon !!!
What a great story. You research the characters very well. Everyone loves Aunt Bee. And I love your doggy too. Especially at 17:10 when he says "don't bother me unless it's important, like a snack."
Another great Vlog Jordan! You did Francis proud with an honest but respectful story of her career. Thanks again for all of your hard work, it shows and is appreciated. Really enjoyed this Vlog!
Jordan I wish I knew you would be in our little town of Siler city I would have met up with you and bought lunch!!!! Welcome to Siler city I hope you enjoyed your visit!!!
Nice vlog on Frances Bavier. I have recorded more episodes of my favorite Andy Griffith shows than I have on I love Lucy with Desi Arnaz. Great coverage of Aunt Bee’s life story. She was pretty when she was young. Jah looks content and satisfied ❣️🐕🦺 That patty melt & onion rings made my mouth water, Jordan. Glad you found the place open. 😋 mmm good 👍
Remember the pickles well..lol One of the best shows ever and still watch reruns. Can't imagine anyone else playing Aunt Bee. Thank you Jordan for another awesome vlog❤
Loved the video Jordan and thank you for during Aunt Bee and telling her story, she was the best and lovable character on the Andy Griffin Show. Yes we saw our adorable pup napping and looking handsome, hey Jah good to see yah.
As a big fan of the Andy Griffith Show this is a excellent vlog loaded with 1st rate information. I can't imagine that Andy Griffith and Ron Howard flew to Aunt Bee's home to ask her to be in the movie and she wouldn't answer the door, or even open it. I think you're right, maybe Frances didn't open the door because she was ashamed of her home. At least 50% correct. The other 50% being Frances personality. Terrific job!!
Love your stuff thank you so much! Of course the Andy Griffith show was part of our lives growing up. I saw her in a movie with James Stewart just the other day a Western, where she played a very strong woman character coming to settle in Oregon. I have often heard that it's really hard for actors to break a roll when it's one that they are very well known for or had as a child actor.
Enjoyed this video. I as many loved her as aunt Bee but I also can understand her resentment. Although it is a shame she couldn't simply give in and enjoy it. Great job as always Jordan!
It's kind of odd that if she was trying to escape the character of Aunt Bee that she would move to a small town in North Carolina, which is exactly where her character lived. Anyway, this was a very interesting vlog. Who knew "Aunt Bee" was so complex?
Today, June 18, 2022, I watched "Return to Mayberry". It just seems like some sort of synchronicity to stumble upon your video today, I love all those characters! The Andy Griffith show was one of my favorites as a child in the 60's. I may actually be "Aunt Bee"! I'm the aunt who never married, raised the nephews and now is helping to raise my great nieces and nephews! Aunt Bee/Frances holds a special place in my heart! But I only have 3 cats...lol.
Hi Jordan, wow, an attractive lady when she was younger. I was surprised at the size of the house considering it was just for her and her cats. Such a shame that she ended her days like that. Nice that people are visiting her grave so she is not forgotten. I know she was a recluse, but I hope her funeral was well attended. Great vlog Jordan.
What a nice vlog, Jordan. It so sad to hear how she lived the end of her life, I tend to be a loner too, I don't want to go like that. I have a picture of your Patty Melt stuck in my head, now I want one & I don't have the stuff to make one. Come next week Ill get to the store, then I'll make one! 😋 I can't recall the pickle episode, I'll have to check RU-vid and see if they have it! Thanks, Jordan, for such an awesome vlog!!! 🌼
This is one of my favorite shows. Back in the day you always learned a lesson from Andy. It's too bad that she didn't want to do the reunion special. She was a great Aunt!
Very interesting story you told. Never knew all this back round on her. Thought she would have been like her character. Funny how people don’t realize the actors are not actually the characters they play. Thank you.
it must've been tough on her to be a professional actor then be typecast like that but i'm glad to hear she made ammends with everyone at the end though. her character was the kind of aunt everybody wishes they could have
I enjoy your videos because they are well-researched. You present the material in an enjoyable and entertaining way. You know what you're talking about. Thank you.
Being towards the last part of my life I find myself feeding the neighborhood cats. I have a elderly cousin and she does the same thing. Old people are a cats best friend.
Hi Jordan, thanks for the great video. I learned alot of new things about her. She was pretty when she was young. I had heard that she thought she was Aunt Bee at the end of her life but that doesn't sound true. Marlboro Man LOL! I have been binge watching your old vlogs. I love them and I love Jah too.
Wow! So sad! She was so o loved by everyone yet you can understand why she wanted to do more. I don’t know why they type cast actors like they do. That’s not how it’s done in the UK. Actors can work between the two mediums and have long successful careers. Glad she and Andy made up at the end. I remember watching the Return to Mayberry episode years ago. Lovely vlog! And that Jah is a single character! ❤️
Great video Jordan, I remember when I was a kid, I was a big fan of the Benji movies, there was Benji, For the Love of Benji, and Benji the Hunted, and Frances Bavier, was in the original Benji, she played a woman, who thought Benji was an annoying dog, she hated him passionately, I don't know if you ever seen any of the Benji movies, they are good, worth checking out, that is a very nice house she lived in, in her later years, its interesting she got sick of people calling her Aunt Bee, but as an actor you are either remembered for something or you are remembered for nothing. 14 cats is to many cats to own, she was the true Catwoman
My fav of aunt bee was when the travling salesman came through saleing snake oil aunt bee was gased I can see her now playing the piano singing to.to tossie don't cry lol thanks for sharing this Jordon very Kool as always,,🇺🇲👍😎🙏✌️💥
What a beautiful home, she did good, sight unseen! If it weren't for her Aunt Bee role, Jordan wouldn't be vlogging her... What do people in acting long for? Recognition/fame. She should be grateful for the great/financial comfort her role as "Aunt Bee", and I bet she truly was...
Aunt Bee’s home is really Beautiful! I find it kinda ironic that she thought she was stifled being the “Aunt Bee” character but yet that was the town she choose to settle in… curious 🧐 That cheese melt looked so delicious 😋
GOSH DANG! I love all your vlogs JTL! So glad I found ya! And the fact that you know so much interesting stuff about Hollywwod actors and History is facinating to me!
When you started talking about the restaurant and the lizard man I was thinking: hey isn't this the story with the butter beans? Thanks for reminding me.☺️
Loved this - I can understand Ms. Bavier feeling a loss of identity with everyone assuming she WAS Aunt Bee. It’s sad how she shut herself off from the world to have some semblance of normalcy. Hey, I’m keto, so I ate vicariously through you 😁 So, I’m glad you enjoyed that Patty melt and onion rings!
Still love the show. It's a reminder of a better time, it will always remain at the top of the list. Thank you for the vlog, Aunt Bee on the piano when she had all that elixir was the best😂
Aunt Bee would usually wear a String Of Pearls, Classic. She had a large and beautiful Home. It is too bad she became a recluse. It is too bad she lived the rest of her live as she did. She had had not wanted to be noticed as Loving Aunt Bee.
I believe that Ms. Bavier's life can be described in three words: Hostile, sad and lonely. I don't live that far from Siler City and I've heard that many of the locals found her to be outright rude and unpleasant.
Heard the same thing from multiple residents of Manteo, North Carolina where Andy Griffith lived later in life. He was reclusive and was rude to people if you tried to say hello to him.
Oh yes, I heard the same from a lady that worked in a medical facility in a North Carolina city where Andy Griffith was filming part of an episode for Matlock. She indicated that he displayed no warmth to people whatsoever. It was given that he was not a friendly man.@@ctotheb7775
The best episode to me with Aunt b was when she was kidnapped by Mr darling he wanted to marry her that was the most funniest episode of all times to me 🤣
I didn't know any of her background. Very interesting that some actors who create a defining role often don't desire any association with it after the fact. In the professional pictures, she looks a little like Joan Blondell. Enjoy driving the back roads with you. Thanks for another good vlog.
You could have never tell she didn't get along well with Andy. She sounds like a ole sourpuss. The character of "Aunt Bea" was always so sweet and very kind she was fantastic in that role. May she rest in peace. I loved the Andy Griffith show, he and Barney made it what it was.. Andy's attitude really changed after Don Knott's left, he wasn't a happy camper. Anywho thanks JORDAN! ✌️
Thank You for the video! Sounds like that Aunt Bee was a not too nice and insecure person. However,we don’t know how her past personal life was to make her not so nice. (Bless Her Soul) When I came from Europe Andy Griffin show was one of the first show I watched on TV. Even though ,I didn’t understand English I loved it! and Aunt Bee reminded of my Aunt back in My County. It is to sad to see how her life ended !
Enjoyed this! I live near there .....Thelma Lou did live in mount airy, passed not too long ago and Andy lived in manteo and died there..so apparently they liked north Carolina.. thanks...stay safe
A excellent view Jordan! Sure remember Aunt Bea it 'was my Mother's name so my many cousins had fun calling her Aunt Bea lol my friend's called her that too & kinda funny because she was 25 - 30 when they did it so she always smiled because she was a relatively young at the time lol, a hello to our little buddy Jah! Luv&Peace Sean&family.
not sure why people put down women who love animals as though there is something WRONG with us I love cats I love dogs I love horses and that is weird? Some people are not that great to be around so better to spend time with those who know how to love ...animals.
Exactly! She preferred the company of animals over humans. Animals do not judge and give unconditional love. Some people dont need human company to have a meaningful life. 🐶🐱🐈😻💖💕💜💙 I also do not understand why people who love animals, (cats especially) are often insulted and stereotyped as crazy. I have 4 cats, my house is spotless, they are well taken care of, I work a full time job, my kids are grown and successful and happy. My grandson loves to come visit me and my kitty crew lol. Stop the crazy cat lady stereotypes already.
