The thing with the Bulls that no one mentions since it's not brought up in the Last Dance is that Jerry wasn't the sole owner of the team. He had other investors. They all were sick of paying for high salaries like Jordan and knew they'd have to pay out the nose to keep guys like Scottie and Phil so they told him to break the team up and they could all just make money off the logo and the recent past rather than waste money being a title team. He agreed because he didn't really care about basketball all that much and felt the team was more trouble than it was worth.
It's been a rough patch for some Lakers fans, as with the team only winning one title after Kobe (in the Covid bubble, no less), the Yankees haven't been to a World Series since 2009, and the Cowboys haven't even been to the NFC Championship since 1995...
Lakers fan since showtime. The lakers always know when to rebound and rebuild. The 1990s were the only decade when the lakers failed to win a championship in the Buss era.
