This is literally becoming Geometry Dash 2.2. It was promised to come out shortly after the latest update and kept getting delayed and delayed with the developers almost never sharing any significant new details
It’s more like omori. Made a kickstarter, they got a bunch of funds, and then the developer went radio silent for 6 years before dropping a banger game. That’s what’s gonna happen to fnf.
On one hand, yes, the lack of communication from the devs is frustrating as hell. But on the other hand, I think showing the fans ANYTHING at all means it's gonna be turned into a mod, like how it happened with the leaked assets for Darnell and Nene. Even back in the days of 2021 before Week 7 released, there was a fanmade Ugh mod. Sure, it'd be nice to get a teaser, but can we REALLY be trusted to NOT turn said teaser into a mod? I dunno
They definitely need a PR person. With how they've been looking, be it as a group or as individuals, they don't look the best or most trustworthy. Not to mention, they really need to make FNF stand out and be able to hold itself up when compared to all the mods. Last thing I want is for this to be something similar to Minecraft: a game that allows people to be creative and make stuff for it while being pretty uninteresting on its own.
@sptflcrw8583 as in scattered "info" that is not on the Kickstarter. I only found out that they updated the charting program today. Without this video, I wouldn't know. And the saddest part: that's the ONLY update they're showing of the actual game. There was no update on Week 8 or the Bonus Week that was supposed to be released years ago, Kickstarter rewards are barely being sent out; no, all we got are the crew being clueless, unprofessional, creepy, racist, unclear, and just being rarely informative and transparent about things happening. People like Toby Fox and Tour de Pizza are able to be transparent about the development of Deltarune and Pizza Tower, respectively, and give proper updates and teases for what will come to the game. The same can't be said for Friday Night Funkin. Nor Silksong- wait, who said that?
I find it funny that mods like Pibby: Apocalypse, Mario's Madness, and Funkadelix really show the potential fnf as a whole can have. Yet the devs still do not hire these people possibly knowing that they can help speed up production of fnf updates. Edit: I understand the comments points thank you :)
@@Beta_Extraz24 but the question is will they have the free time? I mean if they were hired they would likely be added into the credits as extra supports Like you can't expect what's going to go good and go bad because if they hired the fnf mod users to help them on... They'll also have to stay in Hush Hush because that will also lead them to leak any information about the base game, we don't want it to have the incident where the FNF base account on RU-vid that had kawaii sprites music getting hacked.
I want to use an example. Undertale yellow was a fan game and that came out a few months ago. Now development started when Undertale came out BACK IN 2016. 9 years of development, stuff like this can take awhile.
even professionally made games can take 3 to 6 years or even longer to be made. yes by some miracle a game with less dev time can be good. but usually a rushed game is not good.
Except undertale yellows development wasn’t funded by fans through kickstarter meaning they weren’t as beholden to the fans in terms of release dates and progress reports. When you make a kickstarter for your game, you are much more beholden to your fans expectation, which is to see progress and which the FNF team isn’t delivering.
Basically 4 dudes wanted to have fun and make a game. So they made fnf and said "Wow, it looks like people are playing this game. We can do more with this so let's do a Kickstarter!". They create a Kickstarter and (I don't remember the exact numbers) create goals and insensitives to help fund the Final game. Under 100k was reasonable like maybe another week added or something, but they went ahead and threw out these huge numbers like "750k we add co-op multiplier!". Thinking these would never be reached, kind of like a joke... but they never expected the number to reach OVER 2MILLION. Now with "promises" they made for the fundraiser, they are sitting ducks and don't know what to do.
That's what they were like at the beginning yes, But through the Blogs they made you can read that they've slowly reached a point where they got all of that under control, It took them 2 years if I remember right. But yeah, 2 WHOLE YEARS was spent just trying to understand how to make a Business, They've only really been working on the Game full-time for a little over a year since then. Honestly not really sure why no one talks about this info, But maybe they just didn't bother to read everything in the Blogs? Who knows really lol.
And quite literally yesterday, March 14th, the kickstarter updated stating the final physical rewards were being sent out or worked on for the higher tier stuff
Agreed! Well done, Meta! I like how you present both sides of the situation. That's fair. It really comes down to communication with their deserving donators and fans. If they just don't have the time or man power to do it - hire someone for sure! I feel like they are damaging their fan base
I wouldn't be surprised if that also contributes to the creators being silent. That entire situation was a shithole, and I wouldn't blame them if they hated the fandom because of that.
im glad you made this video, you made a good video about this situation without being too mean to the devs, it is a lot on their plate for sure, they have some people now added on the team but not many and most were hired only for one specific purpose and left after, and it seems they are doing a GD where they are adding more and more stuff, which means longer to wait for an update BUT also means much much more content and they also redid the whole engine from scratch too from the ground up so the game will have psych levels of moddability and then more sprinkled on top, but its def hard trying to work on a game, merch, and legal stuff, all at the same time as a small team
Ikr it's the reasons why I think the Kickstarter made the way FNF is right now. Not blamming ppl or the backers just saying that the stretch goals were reached and made the devs very busy with FNF's development on making the game good.
crazy how the community is like "why dont the devs give us any info" and then whenever something gets leaked through no fault of the devs the community immediately spreads it all around and spoils it, like the Weekend 1 songs were leaked years ago and someone charted all of them. that must feel awful for the devs
@@justordinaryguy8407 1. the team is literally 4 people, game development takes a long time especially for a team that small 2. they've done literally way more than they've shown, they just can't show it BECAUSE of the community immediately putting leaks into the game
@@goose7618 and? So the 2 million dollars and the hired modders and guest musicians just don't count then? Bro stop meatriding the devs they don't even know you exist 😭😭
@@dud1297 You're acting like the people who made a few songs are going to drastically speed up the progress of the game. The game is 60% done, man. They just can't show it because of people who immediately add leaks into the game.
@@dud1297 I don't think amount of money should immediately dictate the speed of development like this. two mil or not, its still mainly like four or five devs. and yes, a large chunk of the full game has been worked on in the background - what we've gotten is more a seperate demo for the full game, so content here is unique and probably on the backburner
I think the problem they have is that they kind of overcompensated when making a full game. When fnf was created, it was supposed to be some simple DDR type game with a funny premise, but once the game blew up, they thought they could do more. So, they thought that since their game was a major success, they could make a full game from it. But once they started to make game, they realized that there’s only so much you can do with a DDR game to make it stand out. Especially when mods of the game already took ideas that you could have used. Because why would you pay for something that someone else did for free? This doesn’t explain the communication problem, of course, but my point is, is that they had no plan of making a full game, and it shows. It kinda makes me wish it just stayed a newgrounds game because that was obviously what it was supposed to be. It still think the full game will release someday, with or without communication, since most games(like deltarune) release their game out of nowhere, usually when we forget about them, and then we start to remember why we loved this games in the first place. Update: I’ve come back after the weekend update. See, I told you. These games come out of nowhere and now everyone remembers all the good times they’ve had with FNF and not all the drama, for now. I still mean what I mean. They have overcompensated and now they’re stuck. If it took 3 years for weekend 1, I can’t imagine how long the full game will take. But at least we got something to eat for a little while. Thankfully, the devs said that they will make shorter updates to the game to keep us occupied for the big updates. Just in case they don’t overcompensate again, I’ll give them 5 months for one small update. Anyway, see you in another 3 years for week 8. 👋
I was OBSESSED with this game during the pandemic, but then I just..moved on and forgot about it,I didn’t even know it existed for a while until this lol
I wish people wouldn't be so hard on the fnf devs. Game development is HARD! It is a LOT harder than it looks. Some people don't realize how much frustration game development can cause. I totally understand that they weren't able to finish it as fast as they hoped. And since they are spending more time, they're just making it perfect. An amazing week that took a really long time to make is sure better than a mediocre week that didn't take very long.
I dont really blame the devs for not wanting to post too many updates. Back before week 6 released, there were tons of Ugh mods and i specifically remember there being comments saying "i will be disappointed if the actual game isnt this good" like how does that not come off as rude to the devs? Even now with all the big mods people are still saying atuff like that which only gives the devs more pressure to do their best otherwise people will bash on it because these mods keep popping up
It's EXACTLY this my dude, If not also the whole "Stealing assets" part of the whole thing, The Fnf Community is twisted as hell, They GENUINELY believe that Mods are better then the actual Game, And that Mods CARRIED the Game to the point it's at now, No... No they did not. It was the Base Game itself that did all of that, The most popular Mod at the time was Whitty, And the views for said videos did not eclipse the ones for the main game itself. They can say whatever the heck they want, But the number do not lie, Friday Night Funkin' is far more popular then the Mods are "Or were* in this case, Since it's been a while since an Update has happened and all that, Tankman-related Videos ARE still some of the most viewed ones on RU-vid though lol"
I'm really glad there's an actual solution. It's honestly upsetting that people startng to think the game is mid in 2024, and the toxic fandom where there's a bunch of drama. I'm also glad CommunityGame, and a bunch of mods are still trying to keep the fandom alive. Without them, More than one people will start screaming at me over a harmless fandom that is not fully dead. Let's try to keep this community supportive as we can❤
I feel awful for the fnf developers like they're trying there best but when a community THIS big there is no way they can make it out, they are trap in hell. Also I hope miku becomes full canon.
One of my friends is a professional indie dev and I remember him saying right after the kickstarter got funded that the amount of money raised was far from enough to successfully fund a gamedev team
well hey I know it takes time for this game but Pico day is coming out soon so maybe just maybe we will get our hopes up again and they will release the update! I just hope the devs are really close to this because FNF is one of my favorite games of all time
FNF isn't the game itself, but rather, the community. FNF is the creativity and the creations of the fans. All the mods that have been made have much more of a presence than the main game. The official thing may never release conclusively, but the community will continue making content for the game for a long, long while.
Don't be so dramatic lmao The comunity obviously got the game where it is today, but that shouldn't lessen the merit of what the og devs have been dealing with to get the game so many people are obsessed with done
This is a really considerate video and is actually super helpful. Its dissapointing when people say "the game is never coming out" when they talk about the games silence, but I appreciate that you took the time to actually research and also be fair to the developers for taking their time
i think the reason they dont drop updates on whats happening has to do with the modding community , once they show something its put into a mod next minute , if you remember darnels week, it got modded in less then 24 hours
Base game devs smoking that rightburst pack. All jokes aside base game devs are bad at handling this shit tbh. They should just show us more teasers consistently. No wonder outsiders treat the devs as a joke. It's not really a good look. I don't like how people makes excuses like tracers or leaks. The tankman leak was on accident. Plus even if the teasers get leaked, the whole final product will be billion times better. What sinisterbart aka zibidi said on twitter was right. As much as i like and respect the base game devs, they need to improve how they do things.
my thoughts on the posting teasers like a new mechanic, visual n' shit is that phantomarcade would not only be disappointed (rightfully) with the fact that his sprites were simply traced and stolen for some other guy's "high effort" mod but if that continues with every teaser they would show off, the final product wouldn't really impress anyone because people already have seen those teased things being implemented in other mods
@@PeriodicalMusic that shouldn't be a excuse to not show anything. Plus the offical final product is gonna be objectively better. Delta rune handles teasers and blogs a lot better than the base game devs have.
@@Z3RO5286 I'm not talking about the exe pibby mods and other stuff like that I'm talking about the people that steal/trace the assets the devs show or tease and use them for their mods, like it happened to some of the new funkin' artwork, darnell, nene, tankman and that one combo thing that was teased a long time ago... and it might happen to the new shown off chart editor from the funkin' blog, someone just could try and recreate it for their modding engine it is true that the final FNF product will be a lot better than whatever the modders could do, but it's still sucky that so many impatient people do that
The game is still being updated and still being worked on, currently the devs do not know when the game will finally be fully released but it is still currently under progress. Like how omori took 7 years to make it took patience and dedication to the release. So we may not know when fnf will finally full release but just sit tight. Edit: I've also noticed how mods have overshadowed the original and its pretty sad, with the erect remixes finally giving a bit of hope to the community only for the composer to go silent again after 3 erect remix upload leaks.
I feel like traced assets by fans is just apart of game development at this point. Every Minecraft update has a mod before it releases, every Pokémon has fanart before they’re ever seen in a game, and so much more. But every time, the official version is always better. Remember High Effort Ugh? While yes, it was a good mod, the official version of Ugh was much better. While yes I can acknowledge that it may feel discouraging, that feeling will quickly fade away
I remember when someone put the Scarlet/Violet starters in their ROM Hack after the game's FIRST TEASER, and listed their home region as "Gen 9 Region" in the national dex.
From what I get, games, especially indie titles, usually don’t have many people working on them than AAA games, and with the amount of promises they made in the kickstarter and reaching the goal it’s probably going to be longer. Basically it’s a silksong situation
@@Jekt_ProducktionReal its not "technically its week 8" its "technically its not week 8 bc it doesn't have the naming scheme." Idek how you rationalize that its like you asked an ai to make your comment for you
I remember I spent around $35 to buy the pledge around the time the kickstarter was announced. It was the pledge for the CD. I was in no rush to get it, and honestly by then I lost interest in the series as a whole. I got the CD in the mail 2 years later (from that time).
Catnap and Dogday's efforts to revive Friday Night Funkin' are nothing short of miraculous! 🌟🎮 I'm so grateful for their dedication and perseverance. Let's make some funky memories!
You know to add onto this video I hate how people are saying that the devs are incapable of making FNF or saying things like "we'll never get this game" feels like these people don't get what the devs are doing behind these closed doors of FNF. Like look at Phantom Arcade’s streams and what the devs post on the dev blogs or anything about the game. They are work their butts off just to make this worth the wait. And besides games with the artstyle of being “2D characters in a 3D environment” is pretty hard due to the animation alone. Like look at PA’s animation of Pico dancing that’s meant for something for the game. There’s a bunch of frames and animation that made smooth to look at and very high quality as an animation for Pico just dancing. Idk why people are always downplaying the. devs when they are worming their asses off on this game and expect it to come out now? Like just be patient ffs. Like I am also dying to see what week 8 and the rest of what the team is cooking up. And another thing is that the devs legit re-worked the whole engine of fnf that I think it became more than a re-work and is becoming something more for the future of Fnf. Just be patient with them and let them cook. And I do hope this does get to the devs that we need better communication as well since a lot of what ppl are saying about them is what kind of makes my blood boil sometimes lol. And I also kind of missed it when Phantom Arcade actually went up to say that they are working on FNF and not being afraid of saying his mind out you know.
its only been 3 years Hollow Knight Silksong is taking 5 and is still being worked on and thats an actual indie company doing it, and not a team of people who work under no company
@@woobgamer5210 My point is that people should not expect the FNF devs to act like a big company or something. They are just a small team who are working hard to make this game possible.
@@woobgamer5210 wrong, The Funkin Crew is an actual company and that's what happened during the first two years or so after the kickstarter. but the team sizes are comparable.
I personally think that fnf is entering or already his entering its dying phase like anything popular, when the full game releases or week 8 it will be popular for like 2 weeks or a month if it’s lucky then will fade away into irrelevancy with a few who still hold onto it with heart
Newgrounds games always seem take longer to finish cause the devs want to be overly ambitious and not finish the game as planned. As a stating game dev; I know FNF is going to be good, but the devs need to aim more to finish the game and then do the ambitious stuff later. We are still waiting on the non-week song update to be released. Like for real they can do updates to a finished game on apps like steam now a days. People paid to get it released not continue the development. lol
update: they released instrumentals under the funkin sound team account; and also the funkin blog actually does not look like there smoking crack and there's now tons of technical info that are pretty important to know of, are we finally back boys?!
The game is nearly 3 years old almost reaching it's FOURTH birthday in October I'm so dedicated and passionate for fnf in my whole life so i would guess if the developer was doing a cuphead development cycles i would bet this game is getting tf2 treatments
If hollow knight fans can wait for Silksong for 5+ years (just recently joined) then the FNF community can do the same. (Though I doubt they can cause it s mostly full of kids)
I hate how people are SOO FRUSTRATED because they waited for over 3 years. We waited for a single update in gd for SEVEN FREAKING YEARS. just chill out it may come out this Desmeber like our update :_
I heard on Sully/TheRealSullyG's recent video on Friday Night Funkin' none of the perks from the kickstarter were ever delivered except for the CDs, Vinyl records and cassette tapes which weren't even a kickstarter exclusive they were released on a different site I think it was the official needlejuice records site which was the record company the devs signed with lol
FINALLY!!!! FINALLY SOMEONE'S TALKING ABOUT IT!!! THANK GOD!!!! I THOUGHT THAT I WAS GOING INSANE SINCE NOBODY WAS TALKING ABOUT IT EVER SINCE NEW YEAR'S!!!!!!!
Guys, be patient. This is basically the Pizza Tower of rhythm games, it’s gonna take a few years because it’s a quality game coming from just a few people. Game development, especially with such a small group of devs, take a lot of time. Though, I can understand being frustrated with a lack of communication. If you don’t know what’s happening or haven’t heard from the devs, it can be reasonable to show concern. Just don’t get too up tight about it.
We should not be waiting THIS LONG when some people actually gave these people their hard earned money There's been NO communication No ANYTHING Stop eating this slop It's about time kickstarter devs start communicating with their supporters
I mean at least some updates on how it’s going would be nice. I get they wanted this next to be big but really, they should’ve stuck what they could’ve done.
@@cherricake1796 Hollow Knight Silksong exists (which is worked on by an actual team of devs in a company, FNF is just a band of misfits working on a game) be more patient
@ultimatedavedude6999 No. You are the one throwing a tantalum. When a developer is playing with your money you have every right to ask what they are doing with it. If the developers don't respond that's very concerning. The game doesn't have to release but there should be active progress reports.
Im ngl. When they tweeted that they said they spent the money on v bucks i didn't think they were genuine(i dont think if they actually did use the money on v bucks) and they devs are lucky and i mean LUCKY that they managed to build up a fanbase where people are keeping this game on life support with mods
I feel like not everyone has bothered contacting the developers of the game at least help spread the word and support them and they might give us more info and more updates and teasers about the full version
