So many talented artists from that moment in time didn't the careers they probably should of had. Jimmy Cozier, Jahiem, Koffee Brown, India Arie, Musiq, and Sunshine Anderson were all influential during that era of r& b and neo soul.
@@MuyThoughts lol definitely. Neo Soul back in the day was genius! Like you said the music biz sucks I’m glad I got over wanting to be in that type of business.
@@15daboss Amen! Apparently the main way to succeed these days is to shoot videos pole dancing ||🤸🏽♂️ down to hell and selling Satan 😈 Sneakers 👟 with real blood 🤣☠
I saw him live last year at City Winery Atlanta and he was AMAZING! He sounded better than the record. He deserves better and should be bigger than he is! All his albums are 🔥
I just realized that I have watched multiple videos of yours, but I never subscribed 😔 My apologies 🙏🏾 U deserve every subscription you can get for your dedicated research 👌🏾💯
My late husband and I would always go back and forth about Glenn Lewis sounding like Stevie Wonder. I am glad that someone other than myself states that he sounds just like Stevie. I have always been a fan of Glenn Lewis. I remember hearing more "Its Not Fair" than "Don't You Forget It". So I find it strange that it says it was barely heard. On another note, the making an album in 7 days feat, has been done before. Back in '96 by Tupac with The Don Killuminati: The 7 Day Theory. Just an FYI.
🤷🏾♀️ He does sound like Stevie, lol. His riffs and his choice of chord progressions are very Stevie, lol. ☝🏾 But this is the tea... As a musician, if you haven't studied Stevie (and the other greats) then you aren't a real musician. If you haven't internalized the influence from this level of genius then you aren't a real musician! 🤣😂🤣 So "sounding like Stevie" is a great compliment because his sheet music defies logic! Stevie can bend a chord to the breaking point and uses accidentals like sprinkles on ice cream.
Today "This love" came to mind and I started searching for it and wanted to see where the man behind the beautiful voice is however the isn't much. Thanks for this..... such videos keep the artists alive and reminds us how blessed we are to have enjoyed such talent. ❤ Beautiful work 🙌🏿👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿
Just to add Glenn Lewis had his sophomore album “back for more” done but it was leaked (which I have). This dropped around the time “maid in Manhattan” dropped. There is a wonderful song wirh Jeff Bradshaw on the record which I love.
I love Don't You Forget It...Ashame we didn't get to hear more from him ...But I did notice the shift in music when he came out, it was more about dance records and rap songs...Real singers always get overlooked...But no matter what there's still an audience that loves Neo Soul music and R&B...I am👆🏾 that someone
As much as we like to reminisce of what a time for R&B when Glen lewis came out you can't help but be reminded of how congested the field got with so many artists like him, And what an interesting little time for Music where alot of shifts started to take place with House Music started to slowly get phase-out.
Any major industry whether it be music, sports, acting, etc., there will be many talented people striving to get to the top but only a very few will make it. That's just the way it is unfortunately.
@@gerardmcmillan8591 And those that thrive get in the driver's seat of their career. It might not turn out how they or anyone expected, but they have longevity. They learn new things and adapt to change. They don't just sit and let things happen to them. Tamia chose family and an independent music career and keeps going. Ashanti keeps going. Deborah Cox keeps going. Mya keeps going.
I remember when his song Don’t You Forget It came out I loved the song. I also was able to see him perform it live at a club in LA. I was in front of the stage singing along with him. He’s so handsome too omg
My goodness, Queen. You ALWAYS make me melt with the water you talk. 😍😍😍 As far as Glenn’s career, this was one of the most disappointing things in music because I believe he would have been a staple in R&B. So glad he’s back with a vengeance.
Ppl say that he is underrated but sometimes, it is the artists fault and sometimes it is the fault of the industry. For ppl who have been through that and still thriving , ppl say,oh, he or she is washed up,old, out dated etc..Ppl are so contradictive.lol.It is like which is it?, stay around long enough to be hated or make one single and be considered underrated.SMH.Most of the time, it isnt being underrated. It just a difference in skills, business, effort, and talent. It is having the talent to adapt to the times and transcend the eras in music. Those should be celebrated more but they are not.The ones like Glenn with one single and a dope album, are celebrated.
I love this narrator's accent and I love Glenn Lewis' voice. A SHIFT in a record label's staff CURTAILED a lot of great recording artists like O'Bryan, Suns of Light formerly the Boys, etc.
His debut album was amazing! I loved every song on that album! I didn't like the 2nd album so much; it seemed like the industry tried to make his sound appear more pop/hip hop.
In order to be considered a "One Hit Wonder" do you have to hit the number one spot on the charts? I only knew him for that one song. Seems like his career did a nosedive after neo-soul fizzled. I often wonder how artists earn a living when they go dormant for over a decade.
so mad that those four or so albums didn't get released. this man's music is good for the soul for real. #DontYouForgetIt #FallAgain #ItsNotFair #CantSayLove manz voice is like butter on hot toast, he could have easily adapted to the change in tides... the industry strikes again smh
great job always wondered what happened to him are you able to do the same thing for Liberty Silver another one of this generation that had so much potential thank you for this.
