Akina was a tough woman who faced everything on her way to do it her way. After DESIRE she managed to own her whole career and sales worked on reply. It's sad how people rejected her somehow after trying suicide, mental illness is a hard task to approach, and it's sad she's been judged by something she could not stand.
@ExtraSwirl Thats possible. That pain can build up for years. Sad I only found this woman last month. But after learning her story I wish I could go back in time n be there for her.
I read into her love life. What really is sad is the man she loved was not worth loving, and her dad was just as unsupportive of her emotional state after her breakup. Is it any wonder she is not in contact with her own father for the last 30 years, and she could have chosen to love again if she so freely decided to do so.
@@kurutoshimelody3653 as a performer, you decompartmentalize your emotions. Onstage, you’re smiling and performing for your fans, but once the show is over, it’s a different story behind the scenes. I would say, Nakamori Akina is a very strong woman.
I'm a recent American fan. I could not have known about her in the 80s. I think she is one of the most dynamic and powerful singers in Japan. There is something tragic but warm in her delivery. I've only known her music for a couple of years, but I'm a big fan. She's amazing!
I found out about her in 1989 when my college classmate David at the University of Texas, who is Taiwanese American (Akina was well known in Taiwan at the time), approached me telling me how I look just like her. I was 99 lbs and 5 ft 4 inch. so slight like her, and East Asian. David gave me a tape of Akina’s and I have been a fan ever since. Later, when I went to Japan in 1997, I bought all her CDs.
Thanks to internet i wont even know about the many jpop or even the 80's i grew to love(i like stuff that are 80's, im born in 1998 so i end up similar like the couple in that manga)
She ages like red wine, the more mature the better and the more precious. She's such a Goddess that not any ordinary man can be her soul mate. She deserves the very best.
Many things changed for her after her friend Okada Yukiko killed her self. Many things changed for the idol industry after that moment in 1986. Akina felt more raw and emotional after. So many things weighed heavy on her. She is a tough woman and an amazing artist.
Hope Akina herself see these kind of videos about her like the full retrospective 2hrs video made by Asia On Air, knowing that people around the world never forget her☺️
I always found her to be a very emotional person. One of the few idol pop singers that I've seen cry a fair amount of times not only in her performances but sometimes even during interviews. I think her suicide attempt really changed her mentally from the cheerful, happy go lucky girl of the 80s to a more serious and kind of fed up with the industry demeanor. Never seemed like she was truly happy after 1989. And now with her health issues she hasn't really been seen in years. Makes me wonder how her life would be had she not gone through with the suicide attempt and not been ostracized by the Japanese media and even some of her own fans.
I have Japanese friends, I have one friend who wasn't even that pretty as like an age 20's person. But as she became older and the level of fat reduced from her face, she became a mature beauty in a way. Then you have other women who were youthful beauties when young, and when their fat in their face reduces in age they may look just like a youthful beauty past it's date. Either way, it's up to the onlooker to judge. I don't think she looks that bad for her age, still pretty. Sad that she was suicidal at one point, she must have a soft heart, the type of people who are too pure for the world.
@@cyc20976 she has been unhealthy for a long time because of alcohol and cigarette addiction + severe depression. It's not body shaming, it's actually what happened.
I absolutely think she is much more beautiful now than before. Her performance may not have the same energy, but a lot deeper with grace. The "秋桜" in her 2002 concert was a great example, it make all other singers look like robot. I frankly won't be a big fan just for her early works, and that song and performance made her among the best for me. Feel sad of what she has to experience, but she will never lost the love from millions fan around the world, and can also use that experience to transform herself yet again - she did in the past! I just recently discovered Akina, and dream to be able to see her performance one day!
It is an insult to refer to Akina Nakamori as an idol. She is literally SO much more than that. Her discography frankly rivals other top pop divas worldwide (Madonna, Janet, Kylie, etc). Shes a true artist in every sense of the word. I thank God everyday that we still have her despite going through such trauma and depression. Shes an icon of strength and character. We're honored to know of this woman and her tremendous talent! Domo arigatou gozaimasu Nakamori-sama❤❤
WHAT HAPPENED TO HER ? Akina Nakamori, born in Kiyose, Tokyo, Japan on July 13, 1965, was the # 1 J-Pop idol, singer. actress, dancer and entertainer during the '80s. She was cute, lovely, unbelievable and beautiful then and she still is now...the most beautiful, the best and the greatest female singer in this planet period...a living legend...NAKAMORI AKINA-san.
Princess of j-pop Symbol of the brilliance of the 80's. I love you Akina Akina's mental state was seriously deteriorating. She was so pitiful that she was forced to give a press conference. How can a Japanese treat a woman like this? Very bad
I discovered Akina Nakamori thanks to the band Sukekiyo(headed by Kyo from Dir en grey) covered Futari Shizuka in one of their early setlists. Now that I heard more of her songs, I realised that she is the chief inspiration for many Japanese artists from Jrockers like Kyo to Anisong singers like Nana Mizuki. Their career would have been drastically different without AN. I wish that Akina would be back in prominence one day.
@@trollingisasport Here is the setlist, Futari Shizuka is one of their encore songs. Sadly, it isn't recorded. Hopefully we would hear a studio version if one day a tribute cover album is released. www.setlist.fm/setlist/sukekiyo/2014/tokyo-kinema-club-tokyo-japan-7bccfa84.html
I read her news when I was young, not many years ago I met Japanese lady whileI was traveling in some country, I asked about Akina, Akina married with some man already. I felt relief and happy for her.Kanbate Akina
When people age, they lose fat in their face. The face can become a bit sunk in looking and it loses it's youthful look. What you have here is a young adult woman going from age 22 to age 39. Life factors like stress among other things can hasten ageing, apparently she did suffer from depression and suicidal thoughts etc. Without such factors in her life, she may look 5 years younger than she does, but either way she would still pretty much look like the 2004 version by 2009 even with an easier life. The thing is that people simple age, they cannot remain their youthful selves forever. Today she looks even older, who cares. There are both types of beauty, youthful and mature. Not all women that look mature means it's bad necessarily.
Hi, Okra See. Are you talking about her appearance change? She has aged. No big deal. This happens with everyone, not only with the ones that had a broken heart.
One of the legendary Showa diva ... I want to listen to the unique brave figure and raw singing voice again in the regal! (Cause! Chan Akina-san! Pure!) PS: I want you to come back to the Regis!
I know what you mean. what a pity. and, still lot of ppl luv akina. Life still go on. everything will go thrg. Hope someday, akina smile again, "from the heart". and, Thx for upload.
I thought this would have been an informational video about the drastic change in this person's life or about her history, but it was just a video mashup with a song over it. A little disappointed :(
Listening to this song, I felt a heart-rending song, when reminded me of a sad incident in 1989 ; she cut herself and was bleeding non-stop in bathroom of Kondo's apartment. Ugh... Then the incident attracted much attention from the mass media. I'll give props to Akina, but I hate Masahiko Kondo and Mary Kitagawa because that she was betrayed by Kondo and Kitagawa was my biggest pet peeve. 1989-1995, she experienced some unexpected occurrences. Just to name a few, the suicide attempt, a unexpected press conference to apologize, her mom sudden death in 1995... And one more thing, Kondo and Kitagawa cheated Akina out of a large amount of money more than at least 80 million yen around that time though Akina seriously believed she would live a happy married life with Kondo. It seems they haven't returned the money yet. Consequently she was genuinely hurt having horrible time with Kondo and Kitagawa. Her life has dramatically changed since those incidents, so It's not too much to say both Kondo and Kitagawa must be an incarnation of evil after all. Kondo's and Kitagawa's attitudes are nauseating. humph Akina loved Kondo and Ms.Kitagawa also loved Kondo, so Is this a love tyiangle? That's the way it goes. I have more... Let's call it a day.
@@ymotechnopopfan In 1989, Seiko Matsuda met Masahiko Kondo secretly in New York. I think Seiko Matsuda was an amorous and probably a player. Also, Seiko had an extramarital affair with Jeff.
dear akina nakamori, i was once live my life in your country japan, and you are very popular whene i was there, i really love your performance and your voice, you are very sexy..still now..please never lose what you are before,,we still here fot you..love and care Emma from the philippines..
Dude why make a video like this. 1987 to 2004 is a long ass time, people age. So what? She still sounds great in her 2016 album Belie. I even liked her j-lo phase which was still a great album as well. People change and move on. Anybody normal wouldn't get hung up over a relationship. I'm sure there were other problems which led to her attempt at life but hey, we definitely don't know.
She was in love then heartbroken and her mother passed all in the same time. I imagine that does a lot to someone. She didn’t die, she still releases music. Everyone has things that changes them but she is still Akina. ♥️
De que hubo cambios, hubo cambios, y nos sucede a todos, cada dificultad que pasa en la vida es inevitable, aprendemos. Solo sé que Akina es y fué muy fuerte para superar las adversidades, por eso la admiro y estimo ❤️
I’m currently searching for informations about her and I can’t find anything. I only read some infos that she was active last 2017 and that’s it. I didn’t see any pictures of her in the recent time. Does anyone find infos about her? Like what she’s currently doing or even a picture? Her visual was really outstanding, I wonder what happened to her or what she’s currently doing now~🥺
To think she lost her wholesome sweetness the moment she started to venture her music style from simple pop to femme fatale dark melodies. She was way to young to go into that sort of song genre. Those sounds naturally belongs to Asami Kobayashi who has a more mysterious voice n aura.
thats what happen you sing too many sad song maybe her loss of love was real. you have to be careful about secular music, sometimes you do too much, you Believe it. --- sing happy songs, sing praises to God. Don't Always Sing Sad Music. You believe that and search for sadness too much i know
@@jiayipeng75 No, she is still in Japan. Akina have only traveled on the US when she was still active, and her last travel outside Japan was even late 1980s!
She is still living like in Showa Era. She dont even have any of her personal social media accounts. Only a handful of her team made her a Official Twitter Account (for just 1 tweet for the meantime) and her official website, but still under pilot launch.
She got aged fast because of a bad relationship she went through. She also suffered from depression and struggled with suicide afterwards, etc. This was a school assignment and we were not asked not to add too many words to explain so this video lacks context :P
@@okrasee She doesn't look that different. Only in her last clip she looks malnourished. On the other ones she is as beautiful as ever. Unless you expect a 40 yo woman to still have baby face?
@@pativi6643 When she was depressed, she used to smoke, drink and do unhealthy lifestyle all day just to relieve her stress. That's why she already looked like almost 70 but she is just over 50. The opposite of her, is Seiko Matsuda, which is in her 60 years, but still looks like over 30.
Gong Li is often said to resemble Yamaguchi Momoe (another really famous Jpop singer). So it's not Akina who "resembles Gong Li" but rather they both look kinda like Momoe
In my opinion, she's only acting. You are all cheated. She's a great actor. She can weep on the right time, let her tear drops appropriately, not more not less, yet still doesn't affect her voice to sing a good song. How many people can do that?!!
This kind of emotion is for the sake of this great song. Doing this is very difficult and tiring. So, for the later years of her performances, she didn't always apply this skill for this song.
I can't agree with you - she tried to commit suicide in 1989 after the break up and she looks very visibly upset in that performance, her voice also breaks during it. She was also tricked into going to a press conference after her suicide attempt and made to apologise for all the "trouble" she caused. Her ex also announced his marriage to someone else on the first day of her concert tour. I wouldn't be surprised if even in later years when she sings this it brings back all those memories and makes her upset.
Are you sure you know what happened to her during that period of her life? She was so stressed out of all those love triangles with Matchy and the OTHER women, and freaking got scammed out of her life savings. She attempted suicide by slashing her wrist. The wound was so deep it took 6 hours of surgery to bring her back. Please don't comment on something you don't know, dude!
@@pickledegg1989 Way to completely misinterpret my comment. I had no idea she attempted suicide. I wasn't meaning that as an insult. Her album Fushigi is one of my favorites. But her whole vibe was very gothic at that time. And the person that created the video had the description: "Akina Nakamori, a talented Japanese pop singer, who has changed dramatically from 1987 to 2004 due to a breakup she suffered from". My comment was in response to that bit of text. Calm down.
@@thebarbaryghostsf You mentioned nothing about Fushigi in your original comment, so that's not a valid excuse. Dismissing clinical depression as 'just being a goth' is insulting. Understand that.
@@pickledegg1989 All I knew about her when I wrote that comment, was she was one of the few Japanese Idol singers to record a legit goth album. My comment was actually meant as a compliment.
