I agree with you. I read the story and I watched the movie starring Brian Denehy as Ken McElroy. I keep saying that it wasn't murder. It was collective self defense. I mean really! Police were doing nothing. Justice system was doing nothing. At the time, stalking and menacing were not crimes. Stalking became a crime 10 years later after Actress Rebecca Schaeffer was murdered in Los Angeles. So everyone's hands were tied and Ken was rapidly escalating. The town people had every right to defend themselves.
Your last sentence is wrong and is your opinion only. The actual act, NOT everything leading up to it, was murder. That isn't "defending" yourself. Murder is against the law. I agree the system failed these people but you still do not have a "right" to murder someone simply because 50 people agree to do so
@@timothyscavo8510 Agree it's ok to disagree, keeps us on our toes!. SO...I completely agree with the "besieged & tormented people" part, they must have been going crazy but I still say once you go outside the system, that could be the beginning of anarchy....Out here in S. CA road rage is a real problem and some take it into their own hands, you could view that as an extension of what happened in Skidmore.
I've done extensive research on this case and I also totally disagree with how Skidmore was portrayed in the "No One Saw a Thing" documentary. They push the narrative that there is some sort of legacy of violence in the area, and the fact that the town has withered over the last 40 years is partially karma for two of the townsfolk killing Ken. Well, Skidmore shrank in size for a hundred other reasons, and the only legacy of violence was ended on July 10th, 1981. Skidmore has no sins to pay for. I've always respected the town and felt they never got a fair shake. If I were a millionaire I'd donate enough money to renovate their downtown area and fix up a lot of the houses that have fallen to ruin over the last few decades.
I respectfully agree with you. I thought the same thing. They did the right thing if ken rex was a bad as they say he was. If ken rex shot me i wouldve done the same thing to him. Bad people need to behave themselves
Thank you for the video, it's very interesting how a whole town kept quiet 🤫, Its a shame how everything unfolded the way it did! Godbless that town! 🙏❤
This is a prime example of how the Judicial system failed honest law abiding citizens. What was the town supposed to do? Let him continue his reign of terror while law enforcement and prosecutors did nothing? I’m a Christian but I don’t mind saying that he got what he deserved! It’s just too bad that the poor people of Skidmore had to suffer as long as they did before he got his just due. But better late than never. You live by the sword you die by the sword.
All power flows from God, to man, who then empowers government. If the system cannot or will not act on the people’s behalf, the power must be considered in the hands of the citizen.
I agree completely, that Sundance documentary series was so contrived it was offensive, acting like the disappearance of the one young man and the atrocity that happened to Bobbie Jo Stinnett were somehow connected to McElroy. As I understood it, the young man had become mixed up with folks involved in drugs, and people die every day everywhere in the world because of drug trafficking which is unfailingly volatile and drenched in violence. As for Bobbie Jo Stinnett, the monster who took her life was from Kansas and was a heartless bloodthirsty predator as evil as she was crazy, and if she hadn’t done what she did to poor Bobbie Jo she’d have taken another woman’s life. No matter what anyone thinks of Trump, the best thing Trump ever did was to sign that beast Lisa Montgomery’s death warrant and make sure the execution took place before he left office.
Couldn't agree more- the sundance documentary was very biased and they didn't present the story honestly. The people of Skidmore always seemed like good hearted people who were simply forced to commit an unfortunate act they'd rather not have done- but honestly felt they had no other choice.
FROM WHAT I READ ( IN SEVERAL DIFFERENT STORIES ) , THE TRUCK WAS SURROUNDED BY AT LEAST 30 PEOPLE . IF THAT WAS SO THEN THE 2 GUYS ACROSS THE STREET WOULD NOT HAVE HAD A CLEAR SHOT TO HIT MCELROY . NOT THAT IT MATTERS WHO SHOT HIM . HE GOT WHAT HE DESERVED !!
That's the way it should be done today with thugs and criminals, forget the legal justice system which is nothing more than a joke in this country today.
I have no idea why this keeps popping up when I open the RU-vid app, my opinion on the subject isn't very favorable for Mr. McElroy Sadly, it honestly appears the folks of that town were fed up with the BS, and handled it appropriately.
id love to know what businesses are still around so if someone wanted to visit, they would know where to go! Saw one restaurant is no longer around that you mentioned in a previous video :/
My gramps and I ( I was 11 years old) were in town that morning at the cafe, and my gramps was asked to participate, he declined and we went home, hours later we went to town and it seemed eerily empty, that's what I remember most, that and the horrendous heat that day, 98 degrees, Skidmore was also home to the largest pool table in the world, "where were you when the shooting happened?...I WAS UNDER THE POOL TABLE!"
Not sounding stupid but I thought nobody would say who shot the bully and now years later this gentleman says who the shooters were, how did he find out the men’s names. Apart from that a fantastic video.
After the book came out I drove to Skidmore...I saw the .22 caliber holes in the little metal building just east of the bar...Id say 5-7 holes that could have all been covered with a paper plate.
I'd move there in a heart beat. This ain't shit they had to clean up a bully. The cops where afraid of him. Or this would not of went on. The old lady of his was a true piece of brain damage. She was so scared of him she had proxy syndrome from at the age 13. There's nothing to fear in Skidmore.
I believe this story he's telling where the shots came from is wrong they were much closer and at the back of Ken Rex McElroys pickup this is my belief and there were more than 2 shooters I love it when someone try to tell a story about something and they weren't there
Thank you for comment. I did the best I could. I have interviewed the author of the book "In Broad Daylight" and I am friends with the grocers daughter. I have also interviewed local town folks. What I said has been documented. Thank you for watching the video.
Like most of the time law enforcement are useless..so the people got sick of being victims..so they took care of the problem...i believe that some crooked cops were involved in these crimes that rex was doing..thats why they never done theyre job
Just think he be there today he be going to the casino in st.joe he bees on his money up I thought he had his with whiskey and beer and stuff there lol 😂
Over 40 years now ... after Ken was shot and tgey pulled Trena out. They took her away and they covered him with a sheet and someone said something to the effect of you can all sleep well tonight it's done do something about backing them something like backing them up or something like that. I'm paraphrasing..
Because there is almost no retail there any more, you might not see anyone at all. Have a look on google maps and it is basically an intersection with landmarks and a lot of homes.
@@chry1956 i read the story . it still doesnt prove it legally .. nobody from town folk is still alive to say who did it . other that the children and i dont tyhink they know either .. isnt the case still a open case ??
@@chry1956 well unfortunately it probably won't ever be solved . but thanks for putting out the video . I'm gonna drive there someday . maybe this summer
