See, I don't mind Monstrux being there all three years because it's kinda fun seeing a guy so evil he refuses to die, and keeps getting reincarnated in new bodies like a book, a cloud, or a living computer virus. What bugged me was how they treated Jestro. Guy went through SO MUCH development near the end of the first arc. It was great watching him come around and thrive and even be SUPPORTED by the knights.... and then all that character development went out the window 'cause Monstrux zapped him in year 2. I was SO HAPPY to see Jestro join the knights in year 3 as a good guy minifig, but... yeah, Monstrux should've found some other muscle in year 2.
Back when lego nexo knights was thriving I ran a nexo knight fan club and I remember everyone was at edge of there seats when stone colossus was revealed. Nexo knights is what got me into lego.
I actually really liked this series. Personally, I think it’s better than Dreamzzz. It’s got a unique theme and was very creative. I wish it could have been better in terms of the series, but the sets were absolutely fantastic.
I agree, I loved nexo knights as a kid, my first Lego set from lego land was a nexo knights Lego set. I definitely think the concept and execution was better than dreamzzz, and maybe even chima. For Lego shows it ranks number 2 behind ninjago and next to lego Jurassic world, I also grew up with that although I watch the original movies way more often than the Lego one
@@adetounfrances in my opinion nexo knights was better then dreamzzz is. It might just be nostalgia but I just think they did better with it and not making it entirely for kids. Dreamzzz feels like more of a show for very young kids while nexo knights felt more on the level of ninjago
So Japan and China are actually really fascinated with western medieval fantasy. Look at japans fantasy output, Dragon Quest, Final Fantasy, Legends of Zelda, Dark Souls. that's just naming the popular ones . From my understanding China is a bit of the same way. I know they love World of Warcraft. In a surprising turn of events the hard place to market medieval fantasy is America. Stuff like D&D was always seen as a niche nerdy thing really up until the Lord of The Rings movies. But even at that still wouldn't reach the highs until really now. They view it like how we view ninjas and samurai. A European castle theme is an easier digest for Asia than the USA.
The single greatest area where Nexo Knights failed was the show and in a multimedia Lego world, it cannot be understand how crucial it is to have good Lego media to market your theme. Themes live and due on having a good tv show, movie, books, or comics. Regarding the show, I remember giving Nexo Knights a chance but the season, at least the first one, just didn't give me any reason to keep watching. The villain felt silly and unintimidating, the characters were one-note, voice acting was cheesy, and the techno-future vibe just felt really weird. Each episode also felt like the same thing over and over again and the characters weren't entertaining enough to keep watching since they were almost all so flat (barring Clay and Macy a bit). And later seasons didn't improve quickly enough. Season 3 felt like a repeat of season 1 because nothing changed. There was no evolving story like there was in Ninjago, it was just a new bad guy army but still the same big bads. There was no reason for me to watch when Ninjago was putting out Possession at the same time. I actually heard good things about season 4 because they started to do something interesting with Clay and have an ongoing story but that came too little too late. If they started that interesting arc in season 2 I and others might have been interested. And I have to compare all this again to Ninjago (which is the gold standard and Nexo Knight's competition) which already had a changing status quo since its first season, changing villains, deeper characters, and a better tone across the board. It's easy to see why Ninjago succeeded where Nexo Knights failed.
Also I feel like this show didn’t do much to differentiate itself from Ninjago. I’ll respect Chima for at least trying to do something different with its world. Not to mention (maybe I’m wrong cause I don’t remember this show all to well) all of their problems are solved holding a shield over their head and getting Nexo powers. Compare this to when the original four ninja had to go through an individual journey just to unlock their true potential and each grew as a character because of it.
THE Nexo Knights' ability to use the NEXO powers to disintigrate the monsters was called back to in Crystallized, when the Ninja used their vehicles to defeat the Vengestone Warriors.
I feel that one of the reasons that nexo knight was cancelled was that it was competing with many others themes and it was to similar to ninjago (a group of colourful heroes with modern tech )why buy a nexo knight mech or a dragon or a car when ninjago is there for you a theme that many people already know that they liked
Considering the fact the Dreamzzz Ninjago crossover mentioned the Nexo Knights at the end, they may do a crossover with that show, and maybe, JUST maybe, Lego will gain the support and motivation to fully finish the Nexo Knights show, with some of the issues being addressed and fixed to the best of the writers' ability 🤔
With the recent Ninjago seasons revolving around The Merge, it could stand to reason that Nexo Knights may logically appear in Ninjago now. Before the merge, we only knew the realms of: The First Realm, Ninjago, UnderWorld, Realm of Madness, Cursed Realm, Djinnjago, and the Departed Realm (Prime Empire as a realm is debatable). It’s possible that the Realm Nexo Knights is in could’ve combined with the rest in the merge.
@The_Mecha_Archivist Ras gave Chima vibes the moment I saw him. And they should give some sense of Finality with Nexo Knights with seeing the knights interact with the Ninja.
I tend to gravitate towards themes that have interesting pieces and colour schemes to them, and Nexo knights does that. I imagine I would have loved the villain minifigures as a child because they seem very versatile, like you could fit them in a lot of your own stories. In the end, Nexo knights is a great theme to buy seperate parts from, to me
I like the idea of jestro being an overarching villan. I just wish the armies didn't come out of monstrox. Like, they shouldn't have turned jestro good in the season 2 finalie and made him have to learn to be a villan on his own. Maybe they still could have had jestro get his lightning power and the monstrox staff, but without monstrox holding jestros hand. And like, arnoldi could have been his number 2. I think it would have been a cool idea for jestro to form allies with people who were also wronged by society. If we ever see a nexo knights return(like a 5th season, reboot, or crossover with dreamzzz) I think that the villan should be jestro but all on his own. #Jestro
Nexo knights was great for the fantasy fan. Armies of rock monsters, red demons, cool knight armors and weapons etc. I have so many different nexo pieces in my moc fantasy world. I honestly think it was better than ninjago.
Im sad cuz it was my favorite lego theme and i have so many sets, even the biggest ones from s2 (like the colussus and jesters headquarters) and I loved it. I was so hyped when i saw the trailer for s3 and it never came😢
Great video! I have a soft spot for this theme and it actually happened this year, when i decided to see the show. I didn't have any of the sets, i didn't know anything about it, only that it existed. I actually liked the show, especially after the first 2 seasons, i think the writters really wanted to make it as great as ninjago. Yes it isn't the best, as you said most of the episodes are following the same format and it gets a bit boring, but it is a nice saturday-morning type cartoon. The concept for me is really intresting. I don't think that lego wanted to make a medieval type of theme but something cool and awesome like ninjago, but i see that some people wanted more a classic knights theme. The sets weren't the best either in my opinion, the bigger ones are great, i love the fortrex, the castle and Jestro's lair and some of the smaller ones had actually some nice concept and design. On the other hand some sets just looked ugly for me, especially in the second year with the rock monsters. The figures were amazing, i love all of them, i wish i had some. It's just, lego really tries to compete with ninjago by making a new theme that follows the same format but they can't beat it because they want the new theme to be extremely successful from the first wave. They actually have amazing concepts for themes but they have to stop following ninjago's footsteps. I love the elves line, it lasted 4 years, it had much better lego sets than nexo knights (even a better storyline) in my opinion and that's because they just didn't copy ninjago. I think they learned this lesson with dreamzz wich looks very promising and has it's own identity. I would really appreciate if the next video is about elves or dreamzz, i love this type of videos of yours. Sorry for my big comment but i love talking about lego themes...
While Nexo Knights wasn’t the greatest theme ever, I really enjoyed a few episodes of the TV show growing up & a few of the minifigure designs are really cool like Rogul, General Garg, or Lord Krakenskull for example. But in the end, there wasn’t anything that really made the theme stand out to me.
In the repetitive episode thing There’s 2 special episodes in season 1 I think Jestro actually captures all the knights in the first episode, ending on a cliffhanger The next episode Aaron escapes and frees them But this only happened once in season 1
Please do lego elves next! Also I agree with you on the point about repetitive episodes but Miraculous Ladybug has a very repetitive plot; random person who gets a grudge towards Marinette gets acumotised and then they fight with Cat Noir and Ladybug and get UNacumotised and a good guy again, relising their mistakes. Don't understand exactly how it became so popular more than other repetitive shows?? The romance plot points? Meets it's demographic?
Never thought of anyone would upload a video about Nexo knights. I truly appreciate your thoughts and good production on the video! I’m a fan and love Nexo knights and I’m just happy seeing someone still I talk about it!
I LOVE this theme! I was around 10-13 when this theme was released to when it ended, and I gotta say, it's probably my favorite Lego theme ever! Part of it might be the nostalgia of buying these massive (for me at the time) sets, most notably getting the Fortrex on my birthday, but also because it was the first theme I invested heavily in. I had the app as well, and yeah, it had its fair share of bugs and glitches, but those didn't stop me from beating the whole game! I had a really enjoyable experience with it, and the theme overall resonated with me in a way no other Lego theme has before since then. I was really sad when they canceled the show, because now we'll never know how it ended! All in all, I think the ratings you gave it were fair, but when you spend more time around the theme it really starts to grow on you.
I personally think the sets overall are great, & they get a solid 8/10. & the show isn't on the same levels as Ninjago, which is insane, but its still pretty good, it gets a solid 7/10. Nexo Knights is actually better than Chima. Ninjago is the single BEST Lego theme & series, Nexo Knights is a pretty good theme & series, Chima doesn't hold up today too much, its not bad, but not the greatest, DreamZzz is pretty solid so far (haven't finished S1), its good, & Monkie Kid is quite solid tbh. Out of these I mentioned, Ninjago gets a solid 20/10, Nexo Knights (like I said before) gets a 7/10, Chima a 5-6.5/10, DreamZzz a solid 8.8/10, & Monkie Kid gets a solid, idk, um....Idk if I like MK or DreamZzz more, um....maybe a 8.9-9/10?
I only saw the first two seasons of Nexo Knights before I converted back to Ninjago, but it and my one Clay minifigure have a special reserved spot in my heart right next to Jaya
I can't agree with you on this. Nexo Knights is Awesome! I like Ninjago but only from the pilot to Hands of Time. After That they get really weird they look totally different than have really weird heads hair and villains.
Lego nexo knight sets were awesome back in the day but the show sucked and Ninjago will always be better With the map size it would’ve made a really good video game too
Tbh Nexo Knights reminds me of War Hammer 40K with the whole sci-fi fantasy approach as well as how the Knights in this theme look very similar to the Space Marines. I swear give the blue Nexo Knights some Star Wars blasters and you got Lego War Hammer. Ok someone has to tell Henry Cavill about this theme asap seeing that he's a massive fan lol.
I think the builds were outstanding with play features especially for there prices compared to todays “dreams” and I have 2nd grade nostalgia for trading the little shield power ups but I don’t think people were ready for a second sort of ninjago
Time would have been good for this theme, but unfortunatly i dont think lego is going to revisit It with a New set of minds to think It throught better then when It originaly came out
Could you make about hidden side it is not even old lego tv show and sets ar by me so good i have one and i like it so mutch and with the app were you catching ghosts and play with thoose you catch it was god and i will be hapy when you will made about it a video
Yeah the characters are funny But every episodes they fight monsters and defeat them by Next knight power is kinda Boring there’s new ideas and No new mani villains
I enjoyed these, I enjoyed the buildable monsters and a few of the mechs, I still have the black knight and fortrex set in my possession, I have jestros castle but it is in tons of peices sadly
If that didn't exist then the show might have lasted longer,i watched this when i was 9 and i didn't even get to see seasons 3-4 cause i could not find them but this show is what got me into scifi and a decent chunk of lego. So the fact it got cancelled just makes me sad😢
From a parent perspective, I love it. Nexo is a great lego theme. It's cool, is kinda classical, and most important decently priced and not inflated by scalper like starwars. Easily pick up 30-40% discount sets for kids.
I just found your channel, and I really enjoy the videos you’ve done. One thing though, could you please refrain from edits in the middle of sentences? It’s somewhat jarring. Aside from that, I like the style of commentary, and I love hearing recaps of old themes from my childhood. I would love to see themes like Hero Factory, Alien Conquest, or World Racers covered!
In my opinion, Nexo Knights was an amazing Lego franchise because of how unique it is. For example, there are the customizable shields, which are a cool thing they added to spice the franchise up. Everybody can have their own opinion, but I'm sticking to this one.
I never really liked Nexo Nights, and I'm someone who kinda likes fantasy themes, I think it was the whole futuristic knights concept that put me off. It ran at the same time as Elves (which launched a year prior, both retired in 2018), a theme which I prefer, even though at the time I didn't like either, but retroactively I've fallen in love with Elves but not with Nexo Knights. Also Elves never had as much of a focus on a TV show as Nexo Knights, like Elves had the webisodes, 3 minimovies and the Secrets of Elvendale series on Netflix but no multiseason show on CITV (which seems to be the main place for Lego shows on British TV)
Never get fully invested in to the Nexo knights theme but personally I think nothing will replace and defeat Ninjago at any time soon in the next 10 to 20 years if they never run out of ideas and it's set waves and it's tv show has done so many different themed seasons over the years and it's been here since 2011 and yet many other original Lego themes try to end it but everyone of them failed to do so because those themes were not like what makes Lego Ninjago the theme that we still know and buy sets from today and why end something if it works and sells well.
The thing about Ninjago to me is that it has become distinctly different from what it was 10 years ago. Now I'm like, "Oh wow, ANOTHER season of Ninjago. Yaaayy..." (sarcasm) because it at this point Lego is just milking it for money. The last few seasons of the show haven't been that great, and the sets are just meh. Even though it's not the worst theme in the history of Lego, it's not getting any of my money anymore.
What are you talking Season 3 was bland? The enemies look so freakin cool and could work in almost theme. Shame the Monstrux didn't get fortress. Now that I got that out the way the biggest mistake was combining Castle and Space. Many AFOL were so turned off with futuristic vehicles and those dumb little bots. I would have liked to see those knights that came in battle and single packs fight alongside the Nexo knights. Also Lego put out way too much sets for Season 1&2 while they and 3 Lego films out took all the attention and by Season 3 Nexo Knights was forgotten.
I found that Monstrux was an awesome villain with his monster army. Season 2 had a better story build with the Knights. Perhaps what should've happened was a season where technology failed or was destroyed causing thw Nexo world to fall into the Dark Ages. Very Fun builds though. Even more so with the Mini Fig Sets so you could create your own monster army
