That was awesome, and thanks for the shoutout! Yeah this game is.... it's a good game but it's like a copy of something much better that was never completed. Which is what essentially happened. I recently talked to Cory Barlog who worked with George Miller on the true Fury Road tie-in game and he told me that this 2015 Avalanche game was built on the skeleton of what they were working on. Barlog and Miller came up with Scrotus and Chumbucket for their game. The story was obviously lifted from the official comic books (which Cory didn't read he told me so I urged him to check it out). But the worst offense from WB was that they didn't care what they were putting in their game. Furiosa is coming out in a year, so imagine this - this game showed us the main villain of Furiosa some odd... what, 8 years before the next film? No wonder George Miller's name is not in this game. There's a whole mission exploring 'Dementus' tomb' which also has spoilers about the upcoming film ON THE WALLS OF THE CAVE! I kid you not, go and visit that location and look at the murals - it's depicting a wasteland war between the Immortan and Dementus' gang over Gastown. They had the nerve to put that in the game. There are also other things, like Scrotus who will also show up in the next film but damn.... It's not as much as just butchering source material when it comes to the story. It's stomping all over it without any respect for the man who created it.
No wonder why Warner Bros is sinking right now, they are bunch of corporate dicks you will only see in a parody 🙄 Also, as bad as I want a sequel, it seems that the greatness of the project was due to Miller and Barlog like you pointed out. Since I played the game when it released I had that strange feeling that it was an awesome and fun game with good ideas but made with laziness or something that I could not describe that stopped the whole game from reaching it´s true potential. Now I know the reason why, thank you.
@@albertoperusquia6044 Yeah WB is full of brilliant ideas like that. They wanted to release Fury Road without the Citadel scenes, imagine that! They thought the whole movie was done after they filmed the main parts in Namibia (which are the chase scenes mostly). George Miller had to film the Citadel scenes in Sydney by WB were like - nope, the movie is done, ready to go! Miller fought tooth and nail to finish filming it because the film was not complete. WB wanted to release a film without the beginning and ending, that's how clueless they are! And it goes beyond that too. For example - we were going to get some decent quality Fury Road merch - figures from NECA (I know ppl say they're quality is not the best but bear with me). After WB took over the merch side of things after the rains in Broken Hill in 2010 (just like they took over the game) - they decided to release those Funkopop figures - which is the most low effort thing anyone can do - because it saved them money. And barely any merch at all besides that. There's about 80 vehicles in this film that people would love to have models of and they didn't care about it! They really are clueless. The game is yet another piece of this crappy puzzle. Goes to show that creative and corporate don't mix.
@@MadMaxBible Oh yeah, I heard about that NECA story back in the day. They don´t realize the gold mine they have with Mad Max if they make the proper deals with the license to produce merchandise. Instead they make funko pops, these guys are beyond me.
@@MadMaxBible It is not even the creativities they are lacking, but they fail to even understand their own market and get the money piles they could have gotten. They could have gotten so much money from this game and merchandise. I am glad though, because Hollyweird needs to fail.
My favorite thing about this game is that WB was so confident that the game would sell super well that they added a DLC opinion in the main menu and then proceeded to never add DLC to the game.
Personally, I liked the ending. Ending it off with Max essentially back where he started fits well with the theme of despair and guilt. Plus, having it essentially function as "just another day" for him feels unabashedly badass.
I'm told that was the intention, but I always it as happening in tandem. Max Hardy is out saving pretty girls while the REAL Max is having his own journey in the unforgiving wasteland, under the thumb of Immortan Joe's 3rd son, Scabrous Scrotous.
I like the idea that Max is one of those characters who has very precise goals, but something always gets in the way, and he either beats it up, blows it up, helps it turn into a prosperous community, or slaughters it just to move a single step closer to his goal. He’s the kind of guy who travels through a Warzone and overthrows a government just to get a gallon of milk.
I just finished the campaign for the first time since beating it upon release, and yeah, it really suits the tone they went for IMO. Every moment of the game is sad and depressing story wise, and it feels very natural. We as the player have that complete lack of hope for anything good for most of the game, until the end of Act 3, when we learn more about Hope, and begin our hunt for Glory. Having forgot the story from there, I felt myself really feeling the hope come back, I would kill Scrotus, get the girls, and take them and the Magnum Opus somewhere new. Then, in one twist, all that is stolen. Max is forced to confront his truth, that no one around him can be trusted, and he can never change who he is, or the path he is on. It matches the tone from early part of the game, and CRUSHES any hope you feel as Max. I quite enjoy how Max kind of comes off as a neutral force by the end. He achieved essentially nothing, set himself days behind on his plans to leave the waste, sort of murders Chumbucket, the traitor, for no real reason, and loses the car he just spent so much time and effort on. That moment of him sitting behind the wheel of the black on black and just taking a breath before tearing off is perfect. Max has learned nothing, except maybe to keep to himself from now on. A few camps are doing better now thanks to him, but hundreds of people are also dead or dying because of him.
Can we all just agree that Chumbucket was one of the coolest characters in that game? I swear he's only a few cybernetic implants away from becoming a 40k Mechanicus nerd and probably can outdo most of them through sheer know-how. His Angel Combustion is an avatar of the Omnisiah and he is one of its greatest worshipers.
he annoyed the shit out of me honestly.. plus you know even in a world as fucked up as that one, that he stank worst than most.. his only redeeming feature was fixing the car in the middle of a fight..
What i don't understand is how Avalanche Studios made solid gameplay and driving mechanics like this and then wemt back to complete dogshit controls for Just Cause 4.
@@shalindelta7 Man there's an insult to the gaming industry I haven't thought about in a while until watching this video, played the crap out of 3 but 4 just fell like a sack of bricks.
The playtime is awful. That mid as hell game was like 30hrs long and the majority of it was fetch quests. Fetching gas, fetching parts, fetching collectables. People really need to stop this 10/10 crap too, NO the game is not perfect and nowhere near deserving of a perfect score. the game is mid, it was a big dead map with not much going on, doing the same 5 missions over and over again, the combat is basic at best. At its best its a 6/10 mediocre game, not bad, but not great and its way too long and drawn out with the constant fetch garbage.
The 6/10 feels fair, but for me it was everything I wanted along with the badass shotgun mechanics that tied into the fist fights perfectly. Also having the car worked on mid chase and having to jump out of the vehicle and finish some of them off with a shotgun blast to the fuel tank was a lot of fun. That makes the 6/10 game a 10/10 for me. Story could've been better, and I would've liked to see Chumbucket live, but it has everything I like in a game that makes me want to come back and keep playing. Collectables are also pretty much optional and fetch quests are pretty fun when you're getting chased while also forcing you to switch it up in vehicles so I think its perfect tbh. Most of the objectives being optional while letting you max out a build with little grinding sold me on this game
@@lutherheggs451I personally hate buying a game first day because I love the concept and have it be over in two 5 hour sessions, so 30 hours even with "fetch" quests is fine as long as there is a little bit of story to go along with them. I don't mind grinding a bit to take over territory either because I know it can't be all story and cut scenes, otherwise just watch a 2 hour movie.
The thing about Max not changing from the beginning of the game to the end is.. kind of the point? All these stories, from books, to movies, to games, involve some kind of character growth. But Max.. isn't a character. He is a vehicle (haha) that drives the plot forward around actual characters. He shows up, interacts with the locals, hijinks ensue, then off he goes. If he changed then he wouldn't really be "The Road Warrior" anymore. This mythical entity that is spoken of around camp fires, that may or may not even exist. For Mad Max to work he kind of *has* to stay static. Because that's how the stories are told. Not the one's we're told, but the ones this world tells. Looking at Max from the lens of these wasteland wackos he almost seems like an urban legend rather than a normal man.
I see your point but as he said it stands alone in its own universe they could have easily made a better ending but all they did basically is "everyone is dead and its all your fault"completely ignoring basically the entire reason for the game play just to end up back where you started. mentally unstable but with the interceptor...like they don't even let you drive up to the convoy I believe I think it is just a cut scene that happens and boom big war rig and scrotum in your face...also they completely through out the unchanging part in the window in fury road
disagree strongly. his growth as a person is clearly documented in the real Mad max movies ( not that last abomination which was Mad Mary Sue) he started as an idealistic kid fresh on the police force thinking it was a game then he lost his kid and wife.. then he had to learn to find humanity again and he did, twice more.. but now hes suddenly just this psychopath? im not buying it. its lazy as shit writing..
@tuckerelliott6056 All the Mad Max movies basically take place in their own universe. The only connections are really Max's car, outfit, and knee brace.
Well said, to compare it a little to Dragonball, Goku plays a similar role. While he does learn new techniques and interact with others, he remains the same person in order to drive the plot as a circular character.
@@leonardodavid4670so the game FORCES you multiple times to DOWNGRADE your car to progress through the game…..it tries to forces a female character that nobody cares for or asked for on you….. when you finally upgrade your car fully….THERE IS NOTHING FOR YOU TO DO IN THE GAME ANYMORE 😂😂there was potential in the game BUT IT FAILED HORRIBLY, says on the game screen that there is dlc…. BUT IT WAS NEVER MADE so why is it on the game menu 🤦♂️COMPLETELY USELESS
Honestly, hearing the story, it just kinda… Clicks, for me. Sure, lot of points are stupid. But, same happens in the Mad Max movies. And, honestly, it’s nice to see Max actually keep the Interceptor beyond just the first film.
Oh yeah, the story is just fine for a Mad Max entry. I agree with the majority of people that Hope and Glory definitely needed some work. Either better writing or more time to actually get to know them. Not the end of the world though and we've all seen much worse.
This game, Fallout 4, and Just Cause 3 were my holy trifecta throughout high school. Even made a stop motion video for class based off a mission from Mad Max using Hot Wheels and plasticine.
I've always wished the Dev's would just give this game mod support. I'd PAY for a trickle of replayability at the end of this game. My favorite parts were just the insane car combat when you get more than 4 heavily armored vehicles making you sweat as you thread the needle. A New Game+ or just an Endless Wave mode would have made this game an easy 10/10 imo.
This and a better end-boss fight. I let out the most gratuitous sigh imaginable whenever I threw a couple of funny sticks and he immediately bit the dust
I think there's replayability on it the history was so unremarkable that I was able to play 176hrs of it, almost like those old movies that you always rewatch on Christmas Lmao
Agree , what I do is take on convoys (just found out there's a 1st-person view) but I don't kill the main vehicle and let them drive off. Grinding for scrap
I've thought this for years. I think the game is moddable, but it's so unknown, nobody is trying. I could probably do it, but it's demotivating knowing that not many would use the mods. (this is my favorite game, I bought it twice, FYI)
Just so you know, the Interceptor flipping end over end while they're dancing is the *EXACT* same crash as what happens in Fury Road's beginning. And then Max meets a War Boy named Scab, who's giving you his blood, which is fed into Nux later when Max gets captured after the crash in Fury Road.
holy fuck, even though the game isn't canon but damn there are some hints of details that fit the both together, credit to you for finding that out, absolutely mind blowing
@revan6920 It was supposed to be canon, Glory's flashback scene got deleted from Fury Road, and Hope's role was cancelled mid casting. You can still pull up the scene online...
@@eddiekaspbrak4624 The intro dehydrated hallucination scene was kept, but there's one more during the scene where he's hanging from the War Rig by an ankle and Slit almost kills him with his own "Black on Black" Interceptor converted "Razor Cola." They are all snippet parts of a larger deleted scene(s).
One of my best car kills was during a mid game convoy battle. I did a couple side bashes and as I bounce of the right vehicle, harpoon the left one. This caused it to flip as soon as it went over a cliff, only to explode gloriously top first while flying sideways against a cliff wall. It worked out so seamlessly smooth, so shiny and chrome, what a glorious explosion of red and flame it was!
If you fully complete pink eyes quest then go to the gas station she gives you a picture of it has a secret set of wheels which are the best in the game, I was able to put the best pieces of armor on my car and still have positive handling because of this which is so good
Some of us are still out there in the wasteland, waiting patiently on some sort of sequel, prequel, whateverthefkuel. I loved the game, it's about as much fun as you can have in a gritty surivival environment. My playthrough was bugged though, otherwise I would have 100% everything. We still have hope for a sequel, good things sometimes survive years of bad taste.
I loved this game too. There's no such thing as a perfect game, they all have plot holes and glitches, because they're just games and this was a great game mechanics and game play wise.
Yes I want to 100% it but I blew up the kaboom buggy with the dog in it, and although the dog is bk at the base, evrytime I leave in the buggy to clear mines, the dog won't come with me. So I can't get each territory to 0. I've done 190 hrs, but them bloody mines I cannot find. So im atm just riding around the mine area and blowing myself up each mine and it's tedious as fk, but I'm determined to 100% the game. I've done everything else apart from the mines. Other than that glitch with the dog. It's a 10 outta 10 game for me.
I have 2,600 hours in this game on steam I never beat it I just drive and sometimes I take in the sights I just wish there were different skins for max and maybe if you could upgrade the car that would be nice but I haven’t done the story yet idk
My favorite part of this game was the little cutscenes with the Griffa. Something about the gravelly-smooth voice, the mysterious way he talks, and the fact that it's never truly explained who he is (or even if he's real)... I love that sort of stuff. He's like a less malicious version of Gaunter O'Dimm from The Witcher 3.
@@WormsMaster100 Yeah and it's awesome. Just too bad that it doesn't work well with force feedback steering wheels. I tried some software to get it to work and it sort of does, but then you can't use the controller if you do.
The engine sounds really are the best in gaming. The way the engines rev, the way each motor for the magnum opus has a really distinct tone and feel really sells the car customization. As a massive car lover these are the best engines you will ever find in a game. Second would be how nicely the game progresses. You start with nothing, and a simple scout buggy can wreck you and the magnum opus, but by the end of the game you are a death-dealing war machine with flamethrowers and grappling hooks that topple camps and wrecks convoys of armed vehicles. The story is not liked by some, but others, like me, LOVE IT. Max really is an animal in the game, and his failure to protect the family he only briefly had in the game really drives the knife of loosing his first family even deeper, so he kills scrotus in a blind rage, also killing chum in the process, and continues his insane quest towards the plains of silence in a desperate attempt to find peace. But, when we reach max in fury road (the game is absolutely a sequel to thunderdome therefore sits just before fury road. fight me), his experience with furiosa and the wives makes him want to turn back, because max finally knows how to protect the people around him. And he finally gets his redemption when the wives and furiosa make it back safe to the citadel, and he walks off to wander the wastes, satisfied. the game really does add weight behind max's decision to turn away from the plans of silence. The environtment is top notch too. the way they make a dozen+ regions each feel distinct and populate it with many distinct groups of people really is awesome. in the words of george miller (paraphrased): "It's all a bunch of nothing, but you have to have dozen varieties of nothing". the game really gets this right. in other words THE STORY OF THIS GAME IS AMAZING AND PERFECTLY WORKS WITH THE GREATER ARC OF MAX'S STORYLINE!!!!!!!!!!!
For a long time I couldn't quite put my finger on the reason why the driving in this felt so good to me. Turns out it's the sound design. Those sounds just make everything feel right.
I would personally say the ending is perfect. Because all of us have always known Mad Max as being alone on the road. Like all the other stories with him, it always ends up with him continuing his journey alone. While for a modern audience who has not watched all the movies, the ending would be very confusing yes. Max does not get his happy ending Because this ending has not happened yet. Sure, good and bad things might happen to him on the way, but his story is not done yet.
Disagree... the game has cool cars and im not from the UK or gay (same thing tbh) so i dont care about the story of a game... i just want to kill things and have a cool car.
I think the archangels in this game COULD’VE been more interesting/useful if they provided unique stats or effects you couldn’t find on a personal/custom Magnum Opus. For example: an archangel with high defense that wouldn’t hamper the acceleration of the vehicle too much in the same way heavy amounts of normal car armor would. Edit: I think it would’ve been nice if they also allowed you to redo outposts and conveys to give the game more replay value after it’s over- getting more use out of your beefed up Magnum Opus.
The hallucination with Hope would've been much more beautiful and meaningful if they gave her more screentime, along with more time with Max. That's all they needed to do. Edit: Man the Magnum Opus had a bigger V8 than the XB Interceptor. 429CI over 351, and the Interceptor made nearly 700bhp (600hp to the wheels roughly translates to around 700 based on an FR layout), partly thanks to NOS woven into the fuel mixture. That's the spec in the first movie, and it's been years of decay ever since 1984 or 1985, as the first Mad Max takes place in the 80's. As much as I love the funny Aussie Falcon (like, A LOT), I agree that with funny duckman when he points out the problems with sacrificing the Opus.
700bhp? I though it made less like around 500 considering that in the first movie it had a xbgt v8 and a supercharger or at least how I remember it look like
@@FrankoIsLucki When the Interceptor is first introduced in the first movie, Barry the mechanic states that it makes 600 horsepower to the wheels. With FR cars that roughly translates to 700bhp when the calculations are done
@klyvemercado2001 only thing I dont agree with is that u said sacrificing magnum was bad. I get it in a game perspective but in the story it makes sense like that weird tripping cutseen it has alot of meaning behind it as mutch as Max tries that car still has a hold on him as if his fate is to be a straw dog wandering around with no owner going place to place and well just like dinki di at the start of the game get used and then tossed back to wandering around so I like the ending specifically when Max closes his eyes and looks up as he revs his eninge knowing he can't escape from the black on black he know the Plains of Silence don't exist. Or maybe I'm just reading to mutch into it
For me ending is perfect... typical "Mad Maxish soured" like in movies. And game is showing that Interceptor is inseparable from Max...Every time when is destroyed its coming back to life.
the most hateful thing about this game, which is not alone in this sin.. is wasting my time thinking my choices and actions will matter and they dont.. this is the WORST sin a game can commit.. if you want me to play out a pre scripted story line. thats fine.. that can work.. but when i spend hours playing a game making decisions based on an outcome im working towards, and the game just cut-scenes you into choices and endings you would have never actually made. its frustrating. most especially when the ending they force on you, fits NONE of your behavior patterns or goals. especially when many of these forced choices could have been solved by max or other characters. just explaining themself. a game whose story elements rely too heavily on the characters lack of communication is lazy writing.. such a fun game with such poor writing..
I’ve never seen your channel before and saw you thumbnail🙌🏽 hands down, looks great honestly, for a channel with nearly 23k subscribers your quality and content is very impressive. I high hopes for your channel and wish good health.
This game was so under rated, Mad Max absolutely slapped and i love every minute of it. I just wish the exploration was a little bit more rewarding, otherwise its a dope as hell experience I'd recommend to anyone who wants a unique take on the Arkam style games.
This game is truly breath-taking, even now I still go back to play it now even if I've gotten quite far in the game I still start from the beginning to experience it all again just like the first time it never gets old. Every collectible is amazing to collect once again no matter how far out of the way they are, the titles are a joy to achieve again, I'm unsure if I'm the only one who enjoys doing this. Also the single fact the game takes place in an apocalyptic Australia just makes it enjoyable for an aussie myself. If the world ever fell into apocalypse THIS is how i want AUS to be.
I thought it takes place in San Francisco, correct me if I’m wrong but can’t you find the Golden Gate Bridge in the sandy dune area, I think it’s been a while since I’ve been there but I know for sure I saw the Golden Gate Bridge
the devs easily could've changed the story at the end to be about the plains of silence, where Max finally makes his way through the ocean floor, or finds peace in death
The finale is beautiful.... beautiful for a mad max story. He is a character that always leaves us perplexed. He could have his happy ending but he doesn't want it .He continues to move forward with the traumas of him trying to do the best he can.
Can tell this video is gonna blow up, i just replayed this game for the first time since 2015 out of pure nostalgia and seeing a video essay pop up about it that was three days old was perfect, the algorithm is always watching you. Seriously though, great video kept me entertained even if i didn't agree with everything.
Man I had forgotten about the crazy cutscene with the "wedding"... I love this game but after finishing it with close to 100% I never felt like going back to it. I felt its story was done.
i mean for the scrap crew they still could have had passive income , sure you wont earn offline but while your playing you could still get a bunch and they could have had it so that when you upgrade the scrap piles you get a bonus of scrap along with your passive income
I actually really loved my play through of this game. The combat felt really good and heavy. The story was gritty and left you feeling frustrated like you’re right back at the start. Exactly like how the movies felt. You’re never able to settle down. Just have to keep moving forwards. Nothings for certain
You know ironically I actually liked the really weird fever dream sequence, because it's perfectly encapsulates the thought process of someone who has completely lost their mind.
It's always amazing to come across a game that you can't seem to put down, and this is one of those games for me. The world is so immersive and the gameplay is just so good that I don't mind spending hours upon hours exploring every nook and cranny. The graphics are truly stunning, and I'm surprised that they haven't received more recognition in reviews. The developers have done a fantastic job at optimizing the game, making it run smoothly on any machine. Although it might not have received the attention it deserved, I can say with confidence that this game is a must-play for anyone who loves a good adventure.
I think mad max is my comfort game. I catch myself just booting up the game and driving around the abandoned locations, like the airport, just… taking screenshots. It’s an utterly stunning game, and it fills me with a melancholy I can’t describe. Everything is just so…quiet and empty in some places. I think it’s one of my favourite games ever, and If I knew how to do RU-vid stuff, I’d LOVE to make a video on my exact feelings with this game
Found the game during a sale, and since most of the games (even at the time) were mostly money grabbing trash i gave this one a go for 5€. Well what can i say.. played it several times. Finished it twice already. I guess all this apocalyptic wasteland vibe got me (feels as broken, but even grittier than fallout, which i'm a huge fan off (FO 1-4!). If you can grab it , give it a go.. it's great fun
I've heard so little about this game, that to this point i had completely forgot about it, and maybe would not even remember if not for this video. You literally made me relieve such an beautiful memory of playing this, i had a blast on it. The feeling of the car combat i compare to the same feeling i had when being chased by the police in the old Need for Speed games.
44:44 now that I think of it How badass would it be if the final boss ends on us battling the interceptor with the Magnum opus I think it could show how far we came after Scrotus stripped everything from us
Chumbucket: -Gives Max a new car and helps him modify it in exchange of nothing. -Supports Max with the secondary weapons and keeping the car repaired -Helps Max get in contact with some of the main leaders of the Wasteland -Calls him Saint and spends the whole time telling everyone how awesome Max is Max: -Implies that he's going to take the car and abandon Chumbucket -Completely and unnecessarily destroys the car and lets Chumbucket die
Top ten game of all time imo I revisit it at least once a year. Something about killing people with a car in post apocalyptic Australia hits different.
Mad max is in my top 5 favorite games along side Days Gone and the last of us. I didn't like it at first but eventually tried it again and was blown away. It took me some time to get use to the car combat mechanics but once i did it was on. I couldn't put the controller down until the game was completed. I even skipped work to play it. Any video about mad max has my like but your video was particularly well done. Thanks
I just bought and beat the game last month. It's always on sale. And for like 5 dollars too. Even not on sale, it's like 20 dollars. And its worth every penny of 5 and 20 dollars
I had so much fun playing this game, it was actually a gift from my Dad after we’d seen Fury Road. Despite its issues I would say the overall package is definitely worth experiencing, if it had ever gotten a sequel it could’ve been great
I have always love this game but when it was released my PC was not good enough. So I only did it last year and what an handsome game with this issues more over you can get it for only a few bucks. Thank you for the video 👍
I will say, one of the small things I always loved about this game's combat was the fact that you and the opponents can interact with the walls! Instead of the animations just becoming janky because you're in a corner, it actively changes when you hit the wall. It just always added another level of realism and a kinda "crunch" to the combat that I wish more games would add in
This was one of the first games I ever got for the PS4 and I absolutely love it. The car combat feels so satisfying and the world building is superb. The Airport sequence alone is phenomenal.
I played Mad Max for a couple hundred hopurs when it came out, would have loved for it to have mod support to extend the replayability. Can't recommend it enough!
@@theRPGmaster doesn't help that the Game was Made for console and than adapted for PC. Most controls and menus work best with a controller. I think Mod support was never their intention. :(
@@ExplizitDuester I played it for the first time on xbox. But games are developed on PCs, even console games. As for mod support, big companies don't want that, because it exposes the game files, they're afraid of piracy / "theft" of intellectual property.
@@theRPGmaster yes IT was obviously developed on a PC, but making the PC Version was an afterthought and the ui and controls feel more optimized for console/ playing with a controller.
ITs wonderful to have someone like you talk about Mad Max. I swear this game was the shit when it came out, the car combat, grizzly survival mechanics, and story was really "crashing" into my heart. (You may now burn me at the stake)
Man, I liked that game. Played it through twice, when I can count the games I finished in my time, but not those I played. Progression is very well paced; I always had a challenge up the difficulty I liked.
I sincerely wish there was a sequek to this. Or even a franchise or development. 2015 may have veen slept on by other hits at the time and it may not be the greatest thing ever, but surely somerhing similar with improvements isn't too hard.
I played this game years ago while it was still on game pass and I cannot tell you how much fun I had. It was always great to turn a new settlement from a ruin to a fortress and kick a whole new type of ass at 120 miles per hour. Awesome to see it wasn’t just me imagining how good it was!
I feel like a lot of people who have played this game don’t know that you can legit do wrestling moves like suplexs and drop kicks and such so satisfying
My favorite part about mad Max lore is that Max and everyone else his age canonically lived a normal modern life before the apocalypse. So basically the entire world in just a few years was like “f*ck it i’m gonna go nuts and worship cars and be a crazy barbaric bandit who kills indiscriminately.” I like to think these people were teachers and lawyers and stuff
And the planet just suddenly decided, "we don't need all this water!". I'm thinking the world was hit by a neutron-star fragment that stuck -- the intense gravity somewhere has pulled the oceans away from Australia.
I don’t know why, but a cool idea for a Mad Max game involving the War Rig would be some kind of trucker-like game, where you’re in charge of a war rig carrying valuable cargo, and you have to drive from one POI to another, scavenging for supplies, recruiting other drivers to join your convoy, fighting back against raiders, and exploring more parts of the Mad Max world.
One of my favorite litte details I noticed is that because i kept getting in the car on the left, chumbucket will actually ask you why you keep doing that. I love that because the devs knew that a lot of people from the U.S. would instinctually get in on the left, even though Australians have the driver seat on the right.
Just a slight correction: Mad Max 1 is actually pre-apocalypse, it's right before the world goes to shit. The apocalypse happens between 1 & 2, creating the desert world as we see it in the films from then on.
One of my favourite games of all time. I've replayed it a few times now. Never get bored of grinding to upgrade the Magnum Opus and creating a fierce machine
It's funny cause in the cutscene early in the game where Max is spotting the camp where the Interceptor is you can see them taking off the front bumper and fuel tanks.
Hey man, this video is excellent. The previous video was incredible. I think for your next video; don't try to involve the community so much. People want to be surprised. They don't want to know what you're doing, they don't need a trailer and they don't need sneak peeks. Just make video's on what you want and the hype will be real for your uploads. Don't care too much about what people want. Just keep doing what you're doing and forget about random input. Appreciate you bro, godspeed.
15/16 year old me loved this game to death. I played it in every spare second I had, I completed every inch of the game and it is the only game I’ve completed to 100% to this day. But I only played it once. Because there’s no endgame, and by the time you get up to finishing the game the Magnum Opus is all but fully upgraded and completely OP there’s no challenge anymore. Once I hit that 100% mark, that was it. I haven’t booted the game up since Maybe I should give it another shot.
I remember once watching a review about this game and hearing that "once you get the shotgun, melee is basically redundant and never used" so I played my entire run of the game without a shotgun (unless absolutely necessary or for awesome finishing combos). The melee combat is really good because as long as you hit the blocks you can never take damage! (snipers are extra fun to deal with though)
I like to think that the plains of silence are simply desert plains but the only sound is the echo of your engine and the distant wind In the wasteland, you will always have gunfire screaming at the roar of war boy engines. But in the plains of silence there’s nothing.
Bought this game on release on PC due to being a kid of the 80's and LOVING those movies. Fury Road didn't enter into, though it was FAR better than I thought it was going to be, when I saw it long after, enjoyable even. The game was great and a VERY welcome addition to the franchise as a whole. This video has put me in the mood to reinstall it and have another blast. Thanks :)
To me this game didn’t need any dlc or expansions, it did what the series is known for, tell these chaotic adventures of a legendary cop trying to survive. It was everything that Mad Max is, and the best part is that just like the movies that aren’t Thunderdome, everyone only remembers the action.
Damn, I remember I had a dream that this game had an update where you were able to play with up to 3 buddies, just roaming the wastelands as a badass crew... then I woke up. Honestly I know it probably won't make sense given Max's character and all that, but I do wish that if this game does have a sequel, we were able to run up co op in that huge map, or at least have up to to more then one companion in the vehicle, maybe one of each person gives special bonuses like one person shoots out the grapple hook launchers while the person in the passenger seat shoots out grenades passively in combat or something. But as I said before, Max isn't the type of character to have buddies or members, he's the lone wanderer, the road warrior, the man that rides the plains of silence alone with his black on black... a man can dream though.
I can't think of many moments in all the greatest games of all time that felt as good as a convoy attack while listening to "Violence" by Obituary on another device. I don't care how good or bad the Mad Max game actually is, it's insanely fun
I have played this game from start to finish many times ever since it came out. It's a shame it never got the attention it deserved. I wish they would make a remaster or sequel.
Alright so... Mad Max 2015 had great graphics, good vehicle combat, phenomenal environments, and a good progression system. But it also had a story that was spotty at best at some points, repetitive goals, and absolutely zero replayability after a certain point. Camps became tedious to clear because they eventually became samey near the end of the game, almost like the developers were being rushed to hell and gave up on a lot of game design towards the end of development, and when you clear a zone on the map, which lowers the threat level significantly, almost no enemies will spawn there. Like, you can drive around for an hour and run into MAYBE two cars. And there was no New Game + so you had to start from scratch every single time you wanted to replay the story. From personal experience, I cleared every zone on the map which caused issues. Once I did that, I couldn't complete some of my trophies and in-game objectives because there were literally no enemies spawning. No random patrols, no camps, nothing. I would have had to make a new save to complete those objectives/trophies so I decided 'Fuck it' and uninstalled it. Plus the story was pretty depressing. Like, I get it. Mad Max is always in torment. But they totally could have given the guy a break this time at least.
I'm a huge Mad Max franchise fan. I played the game around late 2019 to early 2020. I absolutely LOVED It. Some bad story elements aside, the game was really awesome for me.
