In today's video I talk about one of the most influential channels and more specifically programming block from my childhood... Nick at Nite aired classic TV shows that to this day, I love to sit down and watch to pass the time.
I think everyone will remember Nick @ Nite for the simple fact almost everyone with cable had to wake up at least once at 3am to the George Lopez theme song blasting at max volume😅
I have such fond memories of the George Lopez show. My dad and I used to watch it whenever we could together. He died in 2009. This video actually made me super nostalgic 🥹
Nick@Nite was what introduced me to Everybody Hates Chris, Full House, and Fresh Prince, which I watched all the time. It also introduced me to Friends and That 70s Show which I only really watched here and there but nonetheless they still kept me entertained. It’s sad to see what Nick@Nite has now become. I can’t even find reruns of these shows on TV sometimes. I would love for Nick@Nite to air these shows again, but sadly I think we’re at the point of no return
As someone who grew up in the 90s and saw I Love Lucy on Nick@Nite, it blows my mind to think that the shows I grew up with are your version of tv history

@@poposterous236 I wish they would bring back all those shows in reruns being everything you guys have mentioned from the 1950s-Early 2000s. Perhaps Nick At Nite can launch a sister channel or block made specifically for all of such reruns. Then again, it turns out form what I’ve seen there are already tons of such stations that play those reruns both thru actual cable and on other cable alternatives.
@@poposterous236 Right for me nick at night as a kid was I Love Lucy, Bewitched, I Dream of Genie, 3s Company etc. I used to stay up and watch them with my gram.
Nick at Night in the 90s was amazing. It really helped me understand the previous 2 generations as a kid. I learned their humor and their world view. It was the best.

When I was a kid it was all about "I Love Lucy", "Bewitched", "The Facts Of Life", and "Diff'rent Strokes". I consider that era Nick @ Nite in its prime.
@@eddiedangles I missed Nick at Nite producing shows from Nickelodeon I wish if they could have still do that today producing the shows for Nick at Nite
Nick at Nite started in 1985. I remember their older programming, which included I Love Lucy, Leave It to Beaver, My Three Sons, The Donna Reed Show, Bewitched, I Dream of Jeannie, Get Smart, The Dick van Dyke Show, The Mary Tyler Moore Show, F Troop, Laugh-In, etc. Nick at Nite always showed old classics. I can't even begin to imagine more modern sitcoms on there, like Everybody Loves Raymond, The Nanny, or Home Improvement. I remember seeing those during their original runs.
I grew up with the early-mid '00s variation of the block. Part of what made Nick at Nite so great was that they not only celebrated classic TV shows, but also mocked them for how dated they were. That's the part of Nick at Nite I miss. I feel like that aspect of the block started to die out by the early 2000s as the shows began to become more contemporary.
Lol, I remember one of those bits always talking about how Fred's (I Love Lucy) pants were trying to eat him or something, cause his waistline kept getting higher.
Oh yeah, they sure did! I remember they made fun of the Brady bunch saying that they had a extra kid named Phoebe who was headed and picked her nose lol. And then when the Facts of Life had its brief run on there, the promo was focused on "The Blair/Tootie Project", which was a knockoff of course of the Blair Witch Project

I hope you know they kinda did the same thing in the early 2010s, but with 90s/early 2000s shows like The Nanny, Everybody Loves Raymond, Malcolm in the Middle, George Lopez Show, Everybody Hates Chris, Fresh Prince and Home Improvement, as well as older shows like The Cosby Show right? Now you're just sounding too overly nostalgic tbh.
The 2009-2013 Era will forever be cherished by me. I spent a lot of school nights up late with Urkel, Malcom, and George, and to this day I still do a yearly rewatch of Malcom in the Middle.
80s kid here. Nick at Nite was virtually required viewing for me back then. All the great 50s-60s comedies that I would never have seen elsewhere back then.
I was born in 2000 and i will say back from around 2013-2015 i really enjoyed teen nick and nick at nite, which introduced me to hey arnold, cat dog, rugrats, rocket power, and more. I remembered watching reruns in the 2000s but never fully got into the shows until my teens. I miss when nick would play these at 10/11pm at night, now they just play henry danger 24/7….
I used to watch those old 50s and 60s shows on nick at night with my grandfather back in the early 90s after moving back to the US Though, with exception of a small handfull of shows, I haven't watched tv since 96.
Yesssss I just wrote a comment about how I was little in the 80s watching 50s and 60s shows like The Patty Duke Show, The Munsters, Dobbie Gillis (or however it's spelled) Mister Ed, Car 54 where are you?!!! And so many more
I think Nick at Night is what’s missing in the world. It allowed me as a child to watch classic shows and enjoy them as I did the modern ones in the 90s. I think kids now think everything is dated if it isn’t relevant of the last 5 years. I think it’s amazing to watch shows from various generations. I know kids who won’t even watch Rugrats or All That episodes. Sad. I grew up learning to love Brady Brunch, I Love Lucy, I Dream of Jeanine, Happy Days, Threes Company and more. All of those shows made me happy even though they were shows way before my time. Bring it back!
That’s one of the best parts of spending a lot of time with my grandparents growing i got exposed to so much old content that I probably never would’ve watched on my own even years later every couple days I gotta watch a couple episodes of all in the family and hee haw
Pmg so true fwiw... hehe @op... Oh and man 3:28 fwiw getting up at night was a thing surely anybody did fwiw as kids.. lol wether playing leapster or sneaking grahm crackers into bed as dumb child not realizong nobody hides stuff under their pillow... oh and alsl iirc this one show called Love and Marriage.. or else Married with cjildren.. or whatever it is or was.. but yeah just vaguely enough to recall the golden girls and things like thsoe shows..
You were born in the year 2000 you really missed all the good times. I think to truly enjoyed Nickelodeon in its prime, you have to be born between 78 to 90. I was born in 83 and to me 1991 to 97 was peak Nickelodeon. They had a lot of live action shows, and game shows, the good burger movie was kind of their last big thing before it transitioned. After 97 it all became cartoons. In 2000 it became 24 hours SpongeBob.
90s Nick at Nite can never be topped! That moon logo was peak! I recently bought a shirt of that old logo. I was born in 1984 and loved the old Alfred Hitchcock shows and Get Smart. Dick Van Dyke was also a big favorite.
I wish I was around then to have been a part of that pop culture era and I wish I was able yo touch more on your favorite parts of Nick at Nite. However I can say confidently that Alfred Hitchcock and Dick Van Dyke are both amazing and their works will forever be timeless. And that moon logo was way better than anything Nick at Nite has had in over a decade...
I was born in 1983, and feel the nostalgia you're talking about. Search "Nick at Nite reimagined" on RU-vid. You should see videos on a channel called Zachary Johnson. Thank me later after watching those. He even put in the old 80s/90s Nick at Nite bumpers and vintage commercials. At least a couple of those videos has the Alfred Hitchcock show you're talking about. I think one has Get Smart.
I first saw Nick at Nite when I was a kid in the late 80's. Back then they had black and white shows like Green Acres, My 3 Sons, and Mr. Ed. I watched alot of Nickelodeon when I was a kid, and the impression I got was that they wanted to provide something for everyone. In the morning it was called Nick Jr. where they had shows for the toddlers, or kids under 7. Then around noon it was called Nickelodeon where they had shows for kids who were a little older. And then at 8 or 9 PM it became Nick at Nite where the shows were more for adults. It seems like they wanted to reach every age group.
Yes. The whole Nickelodeon channel back in the 80s was great because it had something for everyone. I would watch YCDTOTV after school and then later watch some of the black & white shows like The Donna Reed show.
Being a 99’ baby, I remember watching Nick at Nite the first time when I was like, about 8 years old, and I’d see shows like Full House, The Nanny, Fresh Prince, 70’s Show, Friends, Family Matters, Hanging With Mr. Cooper, My Wife And Kids, Everybody Hates Chris, Malcolm In The Middle, and of course, George Lopez (everyone has at least woken up to the intro on full volume at 3 in the morning, LOL) in the late 2000’s to early 2010’s. Aside from George Lopez, I also remember their other original shows like Glenn Martin DDS, See Dad Run and Instant Mom.
It was 1986 when I first watched it. 8PM-Donna Reed Show, 8:30-Mr. Ed, 9PM-Nick At Nite Movie, 11PM-I Spy, 12AM-Route 66. 1AM-6AM was a replay of 8PM-1AM. Not long later it was 10 sitcoms from 8-1 (Make Room For Daddy, My Three Sons, Dick Van Dyke, Susie, Superman, Laugh-in, SCTV, The Monkees) By the mid 1990s, most of the shows were from the 70s (Brady Bunch, Partridge Family, Happy Days, Mary Tyler Moore, The Jeffersons). In the early 2000s it seemed they skipped from the 70s to the 90s in their programming (Full House, Fresh Prince, Family Matters). There were many good kid friendly shows in the 1980s that were never on Nick-At-Nite like Punky Brewster, Mr. Belvedere, Small Wonder, Out Of This World. They did have the Facts Of Life, Growing Pains, and Charles In Charge, but they didn't stay long. By the late 2000s, it was obvious they were ditching the classic kid friendly shows as they were airing George Lopez, Friends, & Malcolm In The Middle which weren't that old at the time.
I remember Wonder Years would kick it off around '98 after Rocket Power or Hey Arnold. Then I believe the lineup was Taxi, Mary Tyler Moore, Happy Days, Brady Bunch, I Love Lucy, Laverne & Shirley
I totally missed the George Lopez years. First time I ever saw him was on the Carlos Mencia show. Too bad that guy got cancelled for "sealing jokes," because he told them better.
I was born in 1991, and I've got countless memories of the Nick at Nite block from the mid to late 90s. It's how I got to learn classics like I Love Lucy, Happy Days, Gilligan's Island, and I Dream of Jeannie.
I'm sad that you missed late 80's/early 90's Nick at Nite. It had some golden oldies like Green Acres, Gilligan's Island, and The Brady Bunch and newer shows like Married With Children and almost any newish show that aired after 10pm.
I was born on October 18, 2002 so my experience with Nick at night was at a later age more to my experience. I first started watching Nick at night when I was six I was spending the night at my old grandmother’s house. she had Nick at night on, and it was airing Malcolm in the middle, the fresh prince of Belair, and George Lopez, my personal favorite that’s basically the three shows they were airing their specific time, so naturally, I stayed up and watched Nick at night almost my entire life. I am sad that Nick at night is no longer in it’s glory form I gave up on Nick at night entirely The shows that are airing now or nothing compared to the shows of the classic era. I’m sorry to say goodbye Nick at night you were the channel I liked.😢
@@eddiedangles I was born on August 21, 1998, and I also grew up watching Nick at night. I remember seeing the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, home improvement, George Lopez, family matters, Roseanne, and full house, I haven’t had cable since 2012, so I don’t know what happened after that, but thanks for informing me.
I was born in 1982 and I grew up on Nick At Nite. I have beautiful memories of watching Dick Van Dyke, The Mary Tyler Moore Show, and Taxi with my mom. I'd fall asleep in my parents' bed often and semi wake up as dad was carrying me to my own room when he was ready to reclaim his space! As I got older, the shows changed but we remained loyal watchers (until my 20s when it shifted to Adult Swim where it remained until I kissed cable goodbye a couple years ago)
I got into it because of my grandma. When I visited, she would fall asleep with Nikelodeon on, & I would stay awake as long as I could. I still think Hi Honey I'm Home was the main inspiration for Pleasentville.
When I got cable in my household in 1990 at the age of seven, the lineup mostly spanned the tail-end of the B&W era and the start of color TV. Within 1990-91, shows like Mr. Ed and Dick Van Dyke were still staples, but Bewitched, Dragnet and F Troop all switched to color between seasons, and Get Smart switched to color after the pilot episode. The newest non-original program I remember in 1991 was Mark and Mindy, which had finished its first run just nine years earlier. It was also a spinoff of Happy Days, which Nick at Nite wouldn't air until 1996. Speaking of spinoffs, when TV Land launched in '96 it freed up space in the Nick at Nite lineup for much newer programming. For me, the moment I noticed Nick at Nite lost its way was when reruns of The Wonder Years beginning in 1997 when the series ended in 1993. Between Happy Days, The Wonder Years, Everybody Hates Chris and That '70s Show, Nick at Nite transitioned from showing programs from 20+ years ago to newer shows set 20 years earlier.
I was born in 1993 and yes the 2000’s era Nick @ Nite was the golden era. I recall so many nights watching it during summer break with my mom. We’d stay up all night and watch it, the classics like Roseanne, The Fresh Prince, The Cosby Show and more. We’d even sometimes go and get late night fast food. It’s a time I wish I could relive again. 2000’s Nick @ Nite holds so much feel good nostalgia for me
I love those type of nostalgic childhood memories. I was born in ‘96 and my brother was born in ‘93 like you were. I loved watching all those old shows as well, especially The Fresh Prince. Nick @ Nite during my childhood was great.
It makes me sad to see what happened to nick at nite, i loved tuning in and watching all the early 2000s showson the program, alongside adult swim, they both hollow shells of what i used to love.
I was born in December 2003 and Full House had been airing on Nick at Nite for 2 months at the time, starting syndication in October 2003. It aired regularly every year from then on until the late 2010s where it only started airing occasionally. And then on September 28th, 2021 it aired for the final time. A piece of my childhood died that night. 18 years of syndication is pretty incredible. I would also watch Home Improvement, The Nanny, Everybody Hates Chris, and Glenn Martin DDS. I would sometimes stay up until midnight on weekends watching those with my mom at a young age when I couldn't sleep. Another classic I grew up with, George Lopez had 13 years under it's belt on Nick at Nite from 2007 to 2020, and now the longest running syndicated show that's still airing is Friends, which started airing in 2011. 12 years so far. I would discover The fresh prince of Bel-Air air in the mid 2010s, but then it stopped airing around 2018. It's so sad man. 😞💔
I’m on the older end. Just turned 50 this month. I was a teen in the 80s when Nick @ Nite was in its infancy. I was intrigued by all those old black & white shows. I encourage you to watch them. Of most of them I’d really only seen I Love Lucy & the Dick Van Dyke Show before. Before Nick @ Night, I’d only ever seen the color reruns of My Three Sons, and never knew about the older brother, Mike, OR their grandfather, Bub. My favorite of all of these shows is The Donna Reed Show. It was not like the other family shows of its era. That family was a little more progressive for the times, I think (esp w/ some themes and conversations). And one of my other favorite shows ended up being Private Secretary/The Ann Sothern Show, which I had to either stay up late to watch or tape on the VCR (once we finally got one).
Been waiting for a good video that covered Nick at Nite, and they just weren't there. Thanks for finally coming through!! I miss the old programming of Nickelodeon. Children's shows in the morning, kids in the afternoon, adults in the evening and night. It was like the human aging cycle within a day, with shows planned for the entire family. It was brilliant. And the shows on Nick at Nite, at its best, were timeless. I was a middle schooler in the mid 90s but I eagerly tuned into shows like I Love Lucy, F Troop, and Get Smart and others. I was definitely not watching when it got "The Nanny" and shows like Fresh Prince and Full House were still in fresh syndication.
Breh, you just made me feel so old! When I was a kid the Nick at Nite emblem was that horrible off the rack purple and black thing, and lineup was stuff like I love Lucy, Bewitched, and The Brady Bunch! I was born in 88 so that was just the 90s. It's crazy how much time they jumped in the meantime. Great video, dude!
I was born in 91 and I remember The Brady Bunch being the first show of the nick at nite lineup followed by I Love Lucy and Gilligan's island. Great times.
#Respect To You in making this video...I was born in 1986...so TBH...Nick @ Nite was SUPER DOPE growing up...so much to see...so much to talk about...I appreciate you for the fact that you actually took the time to talk about a great time in life #MadRespect 💜💜💜
I was born in 92 and Nick @ Nite was one of my favorite things to watch with my dad. I got hip to so many good shows and classics. Stuff I even quote till this day 😂
Great video, really brings back some fond memories. It's nice to hear that someone as young as you was captivated by those older sitcoms. I grew up watching Nick at Nite in the '90s. It was a big part of my childhood and teen years, the default go-to channel at night. I Love Lucy, Three's Company, All in the Family, The Brady Bunch, Happy Days, The Jeffersons, Gilligan's Island, I Dream of Jeannie, Bewitched, The Wonder Years, Diff'rent Strokes, Laverne and Shirley, The Facts of Life, the list goes on and on. Some of those shows may have actually been on TV Land, but close enough. Those classic sitcoms are some of the best shows ever made and taught me so much. They're more than likely why I still to this day prefer watching old shows and movies. It's sad to see the recent state of the channel. I haven't watched it in probably a decade or longer, and last I remember they were seemingly always playing George Lopez. Even at that time it felt like Nick at Nite was essentially done; a far cry from what it once was.
Used to watch Nick at Night. I was 8 in 1984, but got turned onto shows like Dennis the Menace, Dragnet, Happy Days, and The Dick Van Dyke show just to name a few. Also Dennis the Menace used to air on Nickelodeon during the day on the weekends.
Maybe they could put old 90's Nick shows into the block (Cartoon Network is doing it with Adult Swim's Checkered Past block of programming) as it would might fit the oldies theme (it does about as much as Friends or The Office), it could get people nostalgic for those classics back on Nick, and it would make it stand out from it's competitors MeTV, Antenna TV and TV Land (not saying the entire schedule should be that btw but I think it's an idea that could give it variety and attention)
It was eye-opening / soul-crushing when Nick at Nite started showing stuff like Full House and it hit me that the same amount of years had passed between the late 1980s-2000s, as, say, The Munters' 1960s-1990s.
Interesting watching a younger person's take on what I used to watch. Same way you felt about Nick at Nite becoming worse as you became older is how I felt. In the 90s when everybody was watching The Fresh Prince, Full House, Family Matters and more during the day ; after Nickelodeon was done we'd get shows like Happy Days, I Love Lucy, Bewitched, Gilligan's Island, The Wonder Years, The Monkees and more. Watched them all the time. I remember TV Land debuting and being as excited as when Boomerang debuted. Nick Jr, Nickelodeon, Nick at Nite, Snick and Teen Nick all were good.
I was born in 86 so I was a kid during Nick's peak. I have such fond memories of watching old TV shows with my Mom 'late' at night growing up. It's crazy. I don't remember when I stopped watching - I suppose I just got a little older and one day I watched it for the last time without realizing.
I remember they would do marathons of shows, but no matter what show it was, the 11 pm - 1 am Friends block was untouched. Nick @ Nite introduced me to some of my favorite shows to this day.
I’ll never forget the one summer where me and my family basically watched all episodes of full house because of Nick @ nite. Was honestly nice family bonding moment.
I was born in '92. My main memories of Nick at Nite were Different Strokes and The Facts of Life in the early 2000s. I want to say they also aired The Gary Coleman show as well.
I was born in 84 and remember Nick at Nite having shows like Mork and Mindy, Get Smart, Bewitched, and the Mary Tyler Moore Show. Those were the good old days when I would turn on the old Zenith TV in the evening for Snick and stay up all night on Saturday watching the greatest shows ever made. Brings back some wonderful memories for me.
Huh, Nick at Nite is what exposed me to older shows that I ended up falling in love with like I Love Lucy, The Mary Tyler Moore Show, The Dick Van Dyke Show, The Bob Newhart Show, Bewitched, Taxi (amusingly where I first saw Danny DeVito), Get Smart (I would recognize Don Adams as Inspector Gadget’s voice which also was mindblowing for me to see the faces of loveable voice talent back then) , The Munsters, and so much more. I say this as a 90s kid born mid-80s. Then again, I was a weird kid. I loved watching cartoons and some live action/game shows like Salute Your Shorts and Double Dare, yet loved gushing about “older-than-dirt” shows like I Love Lucy and Get Smart to anyone willing to listen.
I was a 90s Nick at Nite kid, but I kept watching well into the mid New Tens when they aired Full House. Now I just watch youtube compilations of retro Nick at Nite promos and ads and respectfully miss those days.
I remember being scared of "Alfred Hitchcock Presents Nick at Nite" as a kid. His shadow coming into frame and that music lol. Today I'm a horror junkie. Not gore, psychological mind bending terror.
Being born in 1997, Nick@Nite In the early 2000s is what got me into Full House, Fresh Prince, Cosby Show, and Rosanne. Gosh I miss that old logo! I was also into early 2000s Teen Nick, Ned's Declassified was my show right there! Boy it's far worse now.
Loved Nick At Night! I was a 90s kid (born in ‘86) and my shows were totally different than yours. The shows you watched on Nick at Night were the ones I grew up with on prime time! My Nick At Night shows I Love Lucy, Bewitched, I Dream of Genie, The Munsters, Taxi etc. Great video. Keep going!
Ok. Maybe I feel a little old being born in 1987, but I watched Nick at Nite in the 90's, and I was introduced to I Love Lucy then. It's easily one of the greatest tv shows of all time, and if it wasn't for Nick at Nite, I would've never appreciated that show in the mid-90's. My grandma, who was born in 1923, would watch it with me and talked about how much she enjoyed that show back in the day. So, in one way, the block capitalized on revitalizing classic shows for new audiences. But yeah, streaming killed that. But from what you describe, Nick at Nite, from what I knew it as, quickly changed to more recent years of television versus black and white shows.
I remember Nick at Nite during the 90s. I was born in 1990 and during that time after, I remember shows like All in the Family, Mary Tyler Moore Show, Dick Van Dyke Show, Dragnet, Taxi, and I Love Lucy was the absolute queen. Then other shows got added like The Jeffersons, Sanford & Son, Cheers. I really enjoyed it as a kid growing up.
Nick@nite was one of those channels that I stopped watching once I grew older. When I was younger, I remember watching adult swim way more than nick@nite, even though I wasn't supposed to be. Unlike adult swim, i completely forgot nick@nite was a thing until I saw this video. I still enjoyed nick@nite though, and I heavily agree that it isn't the same way it used to be. I'd also like to say that I loved the fact that nickelodeon's night time block was just full of nice family sitcoms while cartoon networks nighttime block, adult swim, had shows that were specifically targeted at adults and were way more vulgar and dirty than nick@nites shows.
Same. The new shows on SNICK ddn't have that 90s edge, there were only 3 cartoons on Nickelodeon I watched, & we were the first generation of teens to usher in manga, syndicated anime, & the internet.
I first watched nick at nite in the late 1980s. Then It was all 1950s-1960s shows. I didn't watch that much then but definitely enjoyed "I love Lucy". The theory behind the block was brilliant. They needed night time programing but that was a time kids where not up. This stumped Nick for a solution. They recently aired "lassie" reruns and then began to get letters from parents thanking them for introducing their kids to something they grew up with. Now they had their answer: Nick was for kids but adults paid the cable bill. Reruns had a bad rep but Nick at Nite always advertised it's reruns as classic tv. As "essential" tv for kids and families: baby boomers kids. They also used 35 mm master prints and even form the negatives if possible and transfered to 2 inch tape. Other reruns in the 80s used cheap dirty 16 mm prints. So that would be like a respected streamer today airing "classic tv" and airing pokemon and Rugrats in 4k quality. 90s early 2000s kids would subscribe in a minute and be delighted.
Not even just Nick's schedules... any network run by Viacom is absolutely stale... almost like nothing changed in 10 years. MTV, Comedy Central, CMT, BET and all their subsidiary channels are all basically where they were at a decade ago... and if not, they're worse for ware.
Nick at Night when I was a kid was Mr. Edd, Superman and I think they had the 60s batman on as their transitional programming (8 PM slot). I do remember when I got older as an adult and still had cable they spammed Wings and Cheers. Which I watched a lot cheers is still one of my all time favorite sitcoms and wings was always a guilty pleasure. They always seem to struggle to figure out what they can license and afford for a somewhat niche audience for a paid cable channel. There's free channels that play old TV shows too so they have to offer a bit more value but they don't bring in the revenue probably to justify the rights fees
i grew up on N@N and that’s what made me like all those sitcoms from the 90s and 00s. whenever i’d miss school, I’d watch TBS and it also had a good lineup in their earlier time slots like Yes, Dear, Raymond, KoQ etc. It all shaped my humor and i’m grateful for Nick
I was born in '83, so Nick at Nite for me was Dick Van Dyke, Mary Tyler Moore, Bewitched, I Dream Of Genie, Green Acres, F-Troop, Taxi, etc. Bassically what became the beginnings of TV Land. The shows you remember like Fresh Prince, Full House, Friends were what I was was watching on regular channels in their first run or normal re-runs. Its sad to know Nick At Nite couldn't last, but you're right: streaming really did take over. I haven't had cable TV since 2013.
I first got introduced to this channel back in 2009-2011 when they used to air shows like Everybody Hate's Chris, Full House, George Lopez, Family Matters and other classic shows. However, the block began to die for me since like 2016 when not only the branding got more generic, but the line up of shows is rapidly declining. It's much worse these days as Friends is the only thing that airs on the Nick @ Nite time slot along with a couple SpongeBob episodes they may air occasionally since 2018 or 2019, and random movies. Nickelodeon as a whole is just a dry deserted place that lacks variety in programming when it comes to having other shows. The only thing they have going for is the new splat logo, which imo is unique, but that doesn't mean Nickelodeon is suddenly back the 90s and 2000s. Personally I didn't mind the 2009 logo that much, but the splat will always be more iconic.
I wish they would turn nick @ nite in to a block for old nick shows like Hey Arnold, Are you Afraid of the Dark, Clarissa Explains It All, Kennan & Kel, All That, The Adventures of Pete & Pete etc.
Being born just 2 months after you, Glenn Martin DDS holds a special place in my head. Meaning I just remembered that existed when you mentioned it and that hit me like a train
What you're missing from this is that in addition to TV Land still being a fairly popular destination for shows that aired on Nick @ Nite, there was also the expansion of MeTV, to a national level in 2010, as it is a network folks didn't need cable to watch, just a digital antennas where folks could watch older programming that wasn't anywhere else.
Geez All these shows being on Nick at Nite being what you remember makes me feel old. When I was growing up, Nick at Nite was actual old stuff. Like I Love Lucy and other stuff from the 1950's. They had other shows I can't even remember because most of them were so boring to me. But I Love Lucy...that was the best. Lucy was basically a cartoon character, lol. Stuff like Fresh Prince, Rosanne, Full House...new episodes were coming out in the 90's, so it was weird seeing them in the 2000's. Only a 10 year gap? In the 90's the "newest" shows were from the 70's.
it sucks now cause friends is basically nick at nite now. mike and molly along with mom only really air real late at night but basically nick's night time slot is just a marathron of friends.
Well now we have a bunch of retro TV stations for free on broadcast like MeTV, Cozi TV, Antenna TV, Rewind TV, Catchy Comedy, Laff TV, and etc. which have a lot of throwback comedies from the past. It just feels like cable overall was amazing back in the 90s and 2000s.
My solution: cease all TV during Nick at nite and just play reruns of old SpongeBob. Of course I'm only being half serious because the other half of me would absolutely fall for that.
Nick at Nite was the reason I was introduced to Full House and Friends. The former was my first favorite show outside of Nick or Disney and the latter has become my all time favorite show ever. (RIP Matthew Perry).
This is a really UNDERRATED video. This video explains my experience with Nick @ Nite as well. I fell in love with so many shows because of it. Like you said, it’s a former shell of itself.
I could make a perfect lineup for Nick at Nite 8-9: Full House 9-10 Fresh Prince of Bel Air 10-11: The Neighborhood 11-12: Friends 12-1: Mom 1-2: Bob ❤ Abishola 2-3: Mike and Molly 3-4: George Lopez 4-5: Golden Girls 5-6: Young Sheldon
It made me raise an eyebrow when they started naming shows like George Lopez, Home Improvement, Full House, Friends would come on. I remember back in the day the shows were I Dream of Jeanie, Bewitched, I Love Lucy, Dick Van Dyke, Honeymooners. It seems Nick at Nite moves along the decades just like we all do. The last time I watched it was a bunch of 70s and 80s shows. It hits hard when stuff you were alive for is played in the “old peoples channel.”
Eddie good video idea well done speaking on this topic and giving us some history about it. I'm 39 during 1990 my parents first got cable tv and that's when I first found out about Nick at night. I watched Nick at night from 1990 till around 2000 during those years the channel would air shows from the 1950s though the late 70s. And back when tv Land first showed up I loved that channel too. I thank Nick at night for introducing me to classic TV from the past. I'm a streaming person myself and thanks to channels like Tubi tv and Pluto tv I can find lots of the shows I use to watch back in the day on them. I also like how basic tv has what I call the throwback channels Metv antenna tv Get tv Etc That also air the old school shows.
Even though you weren't around for the original Nick at Nite years, I wasn't around for the Civil War, but I have read a book about it and can speak on it. This video is missing out on the "true" glory years of Nick at Nite. I remember staying up late to watch Taxi. Get Smart, Dragnet, and so many others on Nick at Nite. Nick at Nite is always going to reflect the shows from 10-15 years or so prior that resonate with the key 18-49 demo that grew up with these shows or first saw then as young adults with its legacy programing.
Nick At Night was at its best in the 2000s and early 2010s, stop the BS and fxck boy games. Those were the years when they showed actual good sitcoms from the 90s and early 2000s like Fresh Prince, Malcolm In The Middle, The Nanny, Family Matters, George Lopez Show etc. Live with it or go to the retirement home gramps 👴🏻
When you're old enough now that literally none of the shows you watched as a kid for that 2 hour block from 8pm to 10pm are not mentioned at all and you remember when TV Land actually became a thing. I guess that's where they put my Nick @ Nite shows. Every night it would be The Munsters, I Dream of Jeannie, I Love Lucy and then Bewitched. Shows to this day I still adore. Heck, know each episode of them all these years later. "Nick @ Night. All night, every night."
I'm a little older. I was born in 1985 so I grew up through out the whole entire decade of the 1990's and I remember during the early and mid 90's Nick At Nite began at 8:00pm. A lot of the show's they had on Nick At Nite back then were mostly Black and White Shows. They had Mister Ed, Bewitched, I Love Lucy, ECT. Their were a few old shows on Nick At Nite that were in color like Get Smart, Dragnet, ECT. As the years went on Nick At Nite changed their line up. Great Video, Great Topic to talk about. Thanks for uploading !!!!!!!!!
I grew up with the 2008-2014 Nick Era, and at that time, Nick At Nite was mostly airing 80s & 90s shows like Full House. I remember watching Nickelodeon most of the time throughout Kindergarden-4th grade. And I was into the Nicktoons & the Sitcoms that Nickelodeon made, so I was confused as to why there’s this random show about a family who lives in San Francisco doing average things. Of course, I would eventually become a fan of Full House through the Nick At Nite programming block, but when I was a kid, it was new seeing an old show getting reruns. In fact, that’s probably when I discovered what the word Reruns means.
The first 10 seconds of the Full House theme song are now permanently burned into my brain thanks to *nick@nite* (as it was branded when I was growing up).
What introduced me to Nick@Nite was during middle school, I saw the reruns of Full House and became obsessed with the series as a whole. But I can't forget about waking up to the George Lopez theme in the mornings.
Full House was my favorite Late-night show on Nick@Nite since I first started watching it from 2016, until August of 2021. Even though they kept doing reruns of the same shows from the first season to the last, I still enjoyed every moment of it. Plus, it was hard for me to catch the episodes when they started airing in the early morning hours by late 2020, but I still managed to catch them. If I recall correctly, the last episode of Full House to air on Nick@Nite was the episode where Danny Tanner turned 30. I miss the memories.
I actually have a vivid memory of having a fear of one of the Brady bunch commercials on nick at nite. When it came on, I ran into the hall and covered my ears! The “don’t play ball in the house” commercial. IYKYK
Nick @ Night was such a game changer for me. I always loved television, but that where I was introduced to classic sitcoms that defined generations, and I loved them all. My favorite was The Nanny, which I thought was HILARIOUS! Nick @ Night and Adult Swim on Cartoon Network were honestly genius
