What happened to Open Smartwatch? 

I am still using fitness app while using my watch. It's open to everyone. Execute your ideas now!

Correct. The OSW-OS is being actively pushed forward, but not by me. I‘m happy to say that the contributions have surpassed my initial codebase by A LOT. Notifications are being added, modularity to support more (esp32 based configurations), an emulator,… the project is not ending because of this. this is exactly why I did it as open-source (gplv3), so my initial code is free to be changed and improved by others! if you use the search on my discord you will find many infos (for example how to mod your pcb for better standby currents, or other pcbs that should work too). biggest issue might be the hardware manufacturers that stopped making the original PCBs and made their own variant without integrating it into the osw-os (or keeping to the open source license), which makes it harder to join the project…

Aw dang, that really sucks to hear. I was actually looking about for progress as the GPS version remained on hold. It sucks to hear that hw manufacturers just screw you over like that, especially those from certain eastern countries. This newer version looked even better, sucks we can't have one anymore. It's been almost a year and I can't really find this newer version anywhere (and I really don't want to go dig into discord for updates on hardware). I do hope someone takes the effort to merge the enhancements into the git. Or at the very least comes up with a central repository type system for all those add-ons (for which github isn't really the place either).

Can we buy this version now?? 🙏

No. I'm working on this from time to time, improving it in private. I still haven't "finished" it

@@pauls3dthingsI hope you can make a finished product and also make a living from it. Smartwatches are so overpriced and overfeatured. Your design strikes the right balance between connectivity and great battery life as well as the best platform for C developers like myself.

@@pauls3dthings I was looking for something windows kind. All seems something that is Linux or am I wrong? Maybe I expect to much because when you are familiar with other tech updating itself and all.. I need to learn this 🤔

I‘ve worked on a new model: www.patreon.com/pauls_3d_things video will come at some point. PCBs arrive this week. It will allow for either the GC9A01 display, or the Sharp memory display, merging my latest developments.

if there are dozens of 20$ models on aliexpress why would I make something that has a BOM of 30+ dollars? add CE/FCC certification and fees to register a company and then only 30ppl buy it 😂. the files are gpl v3, anyone can go to a manufacturer build it and sell it. guess what: I did that. and two chinese companies said „not worth it“. lol
