Born in a small town in Virginia, Patsy Cline, successfully "crossed over" to pop music and was one of the most influential, successful and acclaimed vocalists of the 20th century.
Patsy Cline was always my Idol.. I grew up singing her songs along with her on the radio.. I have the First Patsy Cline Record Album.. I recorded the Album In 1984.. Because I wanted to keep it in good condition without scratches on the record.. There Will Never Be Another With a Beautiful and Unique Voice Like That Of Patsy Cline.. Gone To Soon..
I am Kenyan over 60 yrs old.I have truly loved Patsy and hope I will stand at her grave one day bebore I die.I can sing all her songs.Pls get me to U.S.A someday God!
She was one of the great pop voices of the twentieth century, even though her career only lasted 8 years. She's a music Icon and her recordings are still being played over 50 years after her death. She left an indelible legacy. May she be at peace.
Wow two of the best in the business. Her and Hank died at the highest point of their careers I Love Patsy C she sang with such emotion. As far as my opinion she had the best voice in the. Business at the time. God Bless you all
Pancy is still one of my favourites besides Tammy Wynette. Fall to Pieces and Crazy gave me goosebums. Sweet angelic voice. You will forever be remembered. Too young to die.
I'm a new Patsy Cline fame from Virginia. I watched the movies about her Patsy & Loretta and Sweet Dreams which I loved both movies but enjoyed Sweet Dreams even more and it gave u a better look into her life.. I thought the movie was so good and I just kept laugh on some parts and other parts were ofc sad. Her voice is so beautiful and she was beautiful. I have been listening to her music non-stop l. Now I actually enjoy her even more than the other country singers I've been listening to. I've always been a fan of GREAT music. It's so sad she passed so young and had two near death experiences. She will live on forever. #rippatsycline
I love Patsy Cline. My Dad used to have me sing her songs to him. She was beautiful and awnery... lol. Or should I say spirited. Lol. Thank you for sharing.
Yes I too have sang as well as recorded several of her songs. My Daddy loved for me to sing "Crazy", back before he passed 6yr ago yesterday. Naturally, I still think of my father when I hear any of her songs! Patsy was truly an amazing vocalist, taken way too soon!
Great bio video of Ms. Cline. One correction if I may: the name is HAWKshaw Hawkins, not Hacksaw Hawkins. I think Cowboy Copas' biggest hit would probably have been 'Filipino Baby' and Hawkins' would probably have been 'Goin' Back to Alabam'. The latter was known for the unforgettable guitar riff, which Hawkins himself played. I was only 10 when the news about the plane crash that killed all three great artist came over the radio. So well loved and popular was Cline, that all the talk among the adults was "Patsy Cline was killed," with seldom a mention of the other two artists. Her death, and at the prime of her life and career, was so devastating to country and pop fans alike. Kudos to her husband, Charlie Dick (who only recently passed), for keeping her body of work "out there" and her memory alive. RIP to both.
Alpha 11 - Thank you for the great job you're doing. I really like your format of packing so much info into so short a time frame. I was skeptical at first that anyone could do justice to such great artists in so short a bio. You've shown that it can be done, and done very well. Early subscriber here because of it. Keep up the good work.
Yes, indeed the name is HAWKshaw Hawkins, not Hacksaw Hawkins! I was just short of 16 years old the morning after the crash when my dad came in and told me about the accident. Actually Cowboy Copas was my favorite of the group and I regret I never had the opportunity to see him in person.
As a teenager, my father met her at a Fair, and asked her out (ever the optimist, who would eventually marry 13 times) and her reply was "Fuck off kid! Can't you see I'm trying to work here?" A sidenote, my Grandmother (his Mom) dated Willie Nelson when he was a DJ and she was working as a welder in the Shipyards in Washington.
I remember that my Mom cried when she learned Patsy had died. Our house was often full of Patsy's songs and those of other women singing similar music and blues. I have inherited my Mom's love for it.
Small planes and thunderstorms do not mix and can be fatal. They should have stayed in Dyersburg, TN where they stopped for fuel until the weather cleared up. She was 30, not 29 as the narrator said.
It's strange but some people have a strong intuition about their impeding doom. Patsy knew instinctively that she was bound to die soon. R.I.P I still listen and will continue to do so.
I think it's because of what she went through she had a close call when she had that bad car accident the movie didn't have the specific because she was thrown from the front windshield it was said that it was a head on collision I believe that when she got her intuition from
What a legend. Wasn't born until 1987 so I didn't get to enjoy this when it came out, but I've loved her everyday of my life. My grandparents used to listen to all the classics on our vacations from Texas to Las Vegas, Nevada and Hemet, California. Theyve had a special place in my heart ever since. Anytime I feel down, I put on the oldies and instantly feel better and nostalgic for a time I never even experienced.
I am black man and I love the song I Fall to Pieces. That woman could sing. She paved the way for the Dolly Patrons, the Shania Twains, the Lynn Andersons, and the Tammy Wynettes. May she RIP.
Hi Christopher, it doesn't matter what colour you are chris, music doesn't discriminate it just gives you pleasure And you obviously have a good ear for music, as did the rest of the world, im a brownskinned maori From new zealand and love miss cline as well so it has nothing to do with colour
She had rheumatic fever when she was young, which turned out to be a blessing in disguise, because her voice is unique and absolutely gorgeous. I think I fall in love every time I hear her sing.
The same thing happens with big planes. The lesson is don't fly in bad weather with inexperienced pilots who don't know how to fly by instrument. That's what happened to Kobe Bryant. RIP🙏 to him and all the other passengers.
Walking after Midnight, Raises the hair on the back of my neck every time I hear it. I was born in November 1963 so I never heard her sing these great songs. Rest In Peace Patsy. I must say her songs have been a beacon in the night for me, they are timeless and no one will ever top them. Thank you for the music you performed.
What a voice and style. Patsy Cline is my favorite female singer. Her influence and memory will live on for generations to come. Thank you for another well done tribute.
Thank Owen Bradley he practically had to force Patsy away from that Country Twang Sound,,,, Also was responsible of K.D. Lang and LeAnn Rimes sound ... you can hear his influence in their recordings at least the ones produced by him. Patsy had the voice ....Owen knew what tp do with it........
I enjoy anything Patsy related... but there are many discrepancies in this. For example, she was 30 when she perished in the plane crash, not 29. Also, the listening party for her final session occurred on February 7, 1963 - not 1962 as you stated. Additionally, "I'll Sail My Ship Alone" was the final song she ever recorded and was not her final "single" (Her final single released during her lifetime was "Leavin' On Your Mind" b/w "Tra Le La Le La Triangle") Finally, Hacksaw is pronounced Hawkshaw. Despite these and other errors, thanks for the effort and highlighting Patsy's life in your videos.
That feeling of impending doom, so strong that she began giving away her possessions, leaves me with a sad feeling. Must've been difficult to live with that. Anyway, great video, Alpha 11!!
I believe Patsy had a close relationship with Jesus...she came very close to death in the car accident in 1961...her life extended 2 years & she recorded most of her 'timeless classics' during this breif time...
There was simply only ONE Patsy Cline. So sad that her life was cut so tragically short. I was only a child at the time of her death and didn't really appreciate her until I was much older. I have many of her CDs and often play them. She put so much emotion into her songs. RIP Patsy.
Many people who have fulfilled their purpose in life at a younger age lived a short life. This show we're all on a mission in this world. I'm 40 and i'm still trying to figure out what my purpose is, isn't that funny?
since country music as a genre is pretty crappy and incredibly limited, that's really not saying a lot...but, Patsy was one of a kind...truly the very first Crossover Artist, and deservedly so.
Alpha, can you find out what happened to Joni James, a singer, I think from the '50s, but not too sure. I was a child when I heard her record and she had a beautiful voice. It would be interesting to know.
Meade Music overrated my arse what the hell are you talking about she was one of the best female country and western singers of all time nobody could sing as good as her .
She was 30 not 29. The plane actually crashed at night on March 4th. The crash site wasn't discovered until the morning of March 5th. She's still the best country singer ever.
What happen to pasty cline I am on. The picture. With. Patsy Hershey. Penna, joann Thomas wwsm radio Pat Garrett radio station Palmyra penna, pasty was my. Friend I did a show with. Her in 19t8 reading pa,
Her babies mean the world to this talented legend she knew what she sign up for if my beautiful songstress didn't her idol did? Today the same in this wicked world and Industry, if you can do the math, plain English will do
It may sound morbid, but in 2016, I stopped by Pasty's grave in Winchester, Va. and sang, "I Fall to Pieces" to her. She was bigger than life to me. Left a quarter on her grave. From there , I went to Nashville and visited the graves of George Jones, Eddie Arnold, Tammy Wynett, Marty Robbins, Porter Wagoner, and Owen Bradley. Anyone who knows the golden age of country music, will know how important these people are. I don't think they'd like what their music morphed into.
I was blessed to stand at the Grave of The Phenomenal Patsy Cline, in Winchester, Va. On her marker it has the last name Dick( Charlie) and under it reads Patsy Cline. This lady could make grown men cry! Rest in Peace Patsy Cline, Earth is sending Love up! July 2019
