We been thinking about evolving our K-Bang channel to do more commentary about things that we think can help fuel a better dynamic between performers/creators and fans.

Thanks for doing this. It's sad that I first became aware and interested in the Korean pop music industry when U;nee took her own life in 2007. There were many articles at the time talking about extreme malicious cyberbullying being particularly rampant in Korea and directed toward Korean celebrities, but I guess things haven't changed much since then despite it being a known issue for so long.

More people needs to learn about Sulli, we need to help prevent this...not long after Goo Hara who was another idol that was close to Sulli also took her life not long after :(

I think some people feel that being a pop idle will make them happy, but sometimes being at the top does not bring the happiness people expect, then if you factor in the bullying, it is really sad.

I think also alongside all that parents also should have a real voice for their child when their children decide to be an idol and start their lives in the industry .. as a parent I would stand by my child since he/she still very young & doesn't know how decisions can affect him/her ..

It definitely played a factor in her suicide though. She already suffered from depression, but the cyber bullying probably pushed her over the edge. I’ve been there myself. I hope she’s finally found her peace❤️

But this does not mean you can harrass someone endlessly. It's okay if it was actual objective criticism but Sulli would do anything and get called out or bullied for it. Indeed, as a celebrity you open yourself up for criticism but it doesn't mean you can harrass someone relentlessly.

But it hurts, it still hurts. And even more when you do nothing to get hated. Even if they know they will tet hate (and more if they are kpop idols) you're a human and you get hurt by those comments. SM should have cared more about her mental health, but did nothing about it, that's why this sucks and there is no excuse for these haters.
