The 2013 NBA draft was insane, featuring Anthony Bennett, CJ McCollum, Giannis Antetokounmpo, and more. But what happened to the 2013 NBA Draft? #nba #nbadraft #2013nbadraft
Considering Giannis was a multi year project and OKC was busy contending with KD and Westbrook, it’s possible Giannis might have turned into a “what if” story.
@@johnl8634 yh true Gianis was SG/SF coming to the nba and the Milwaukee bucks had no SF so they had to play Gianis cuz they had less players at his position…so he actually had a chance to play with lots of minutes
In my opinion he probably would’ve been limited to a role player which probably would’ve limited his potential just like when Harden was their 6th man and when Sabonis was forced to be a stretch four. KD and Russ were ball dominant which is why a player like Ibaka fit their scheme.
Never forget that Alex Len said that in 10 years he would be the best player from this draft. It has now been 10 years and Len is surprisingly still in the NBA.
considering how the future of the NBA would become Giannis and Jokic with 2 rings and 4 MVPs, who knew it would come from the bowels of the late draft picks?
@@holdmyweight3597right bt we are basing it on what actually happened. and its not like he just got injured once, he been injured all the time. Also he only had one peak season of 23ppg. CJ has had 8 seasons of 20ppg or more and dominated playoff series. Im even more convinced im rocking with CJ. Also the fact Vic was an all star and CJ hasnt is only because of the conferences they are in. East always been easier
@@dboii9741 fr they ran a lineup of Westbrook Roberson KD ibaka adams and had kanter as the 6th man lmao like no fucking wonder KD left😂 edit: their best floor spacers were Anthony morrow and dj Augustine 💀
2013 Russ got hurt on a dirty play 2014 Russ still recovering after a knee injury 2015 KD broken foot 2016 blown 3-1 lead in conference finals 2017 KD left. Russ mvp 2018 melo and PG selling playoffs 2019 Dame finally having a good series 2020 cp3
@@TerribleTake the reason how okc beat spurs in 2016 was because of ibaka and Adams out playing and bullying the soft marshmallow bigs of spurs like aldridge
@@mikieedwards7380 2014 Russ was mostly recovered by the playoffs, that was their best year to take advantage of the declining Heat and win. They just got sloppy near the end. Maybe you could also count Ibaka getting hurt during the Clippers screwing them over as they lost their best defender on Tim Duncan. Multiple times they almost exited early due to sloppy play and poor coaching. Reggie Jackson single handedly saved them from being eliminated by the Grizzlies plus a Zbo suspension. Clippers series had way too many close games that could've gone either way. In the WCF KD failed to execute and at times Westbrook looked like the best player on the floor. Their failure was more because they couldnt close out rather than Russ being hurt.
@@IamnotfromUSA fair take. I think he'll get one at some point though he's still got time. McCollum is leaving his prime and probably won't have many good chances to make one anymore
West guards were unbelievable and very hard to crack at that era, even Dame missed a couple ASG because guys like Curry, Harden, Westbrook and CP3 existed in the same conference.
Ben McLemore has a flaw NO ONE points out. He has no acceleration. Once he committed to moving he was fast, but he couldn't pass, dribble, create his own shot, or defend well. That left him with 2 options... cutting to the basket, and Standstill shooting. He did both at an acceptable clip, but not enough to be a starting asset.
I can see that how much better scouting has gotten honestly teams with top lottery picks aren’t really missing or making big mistakes anymore like this
@@classicslayer456we woulda traded dipo for k love just a year later. As a cavs fan I hate the whatifs in the 2013 and 2014 drafts cus even if we drafted giannis in 13 and jokic in 14 they just woulda been traded to Minnesota
"Wasn't a great shooter" is not an accurate statement for Oladipo. He had a ridiculously efficient junior season at Indiana, including shooting 44% from three. The volume was low, but he was also incredibly efficient on 2pt jump shots. It was actually his shooting improvements that propelled him to the top of the draft.
It’s crazy looking back at things and it makes us realize how wrong we can be. Who would have thought the 15th overall pick would be a franchise player? And win them a Chip. And Win an MVP
Embiid didn't play 2 years and developed his play style during those 2 injury filled seasons while the 76ers lost games which looks like they kept the best 3 straight picks of drafting Centers with lottery picks.
I honestly think MCW was drafted a decade too early. We've seen a good frame and high motor can get you places not just defensively. Offenses are now more fluid than swinging the ball around the 3 pt line until someone's open, jokic has made it so you must do that or you will lose. A 6'6 pg who doesn't demand the ball and can make the right pass or cut is pretty good in today's game.
I actually mocked Anthony Bennett to the Cavs. People keep saying he was a shocking pick but don't realize he had a build similar to LeBron and the team probably felt he could develop into a poor mans lebron over time. Obviously this proved incorrect but his pick actually makes sense through this lense
I kind of get this sense, but at the same time this was the first draft I've actually followed up until this point 10 years ago and even I understood that. Anthony Bennett was no good. Even the GM didn't even want him because he knew he had no good work ethic
From 2013 till now imagine Giannis, Embiid, Devin Booker, Brandon Ingram, Jason Tatum, Mikal Bridges, Jordan Poole, & Tyrese Maxey IF sixers just draft correctly!!! 2 mvps w 2 top 5 mvp conv players all on the same team.
It's crazy to think that the Lakers traded KCP and other pieces for Russell Westbrook and it was a massive mistake, they shouldn't have even done just KCP for Russ as a swap
Bro they were 1 series away from the finals, people like to complain about Russ but just look at game 1 against phoenix where he made huge plays to win them the game off 3/19 shooting. The lakers blew up their team trading for AD and Bron whatchu mean? 😂
I swapped my alliegence from the bulls to the bucks the night of this draft purely because I liked the name giannis and my god was that a good decision ahahhaa
You've gotta feel bad for bennett, if he went at around pick 10 where he probably should have been he'd have had less pressure and could have maybe carved out a decent career
Here's a video clip of Masai and Raptors brass trying frantically to trade into the 1st round to get him. As a Raps fan I think about what could have been...ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Ficds0wx8bY.html
i played 2013nba career mode last lockdown, trey burke and antony bennet is smoking😂😂 back in 2019, this draftclass is the most worse draft ever. only gianis, gobert and adams probably olidipo are the notable ones, the rest are just meh.
