The Warriors and the Heat are the two teams that stand out for identifying talent and then developing it. That takes more than a couple of good scouts, or a good head coach or GM - it takes a "culture" - which both of those organizations have. Great to see Poole prove all those would be GM talking heads wrong about his "potential."
I think the warriors were the perfect team to uncover this hidden gem. This was the only system that could bring out jp’s potential. Every nba player is exceptionally talented and all have the ability to flourish, but it’s all about the system and opportunities. Jordan had the opportunity to learn from 3 of the nbas greatest for 3 years and now look at him. He looks just like curry out there. He had a rough start, but after sitting behind those guys and learning from them, he’s unlocked a new level of play.
I agree with you there but it’s also all on Jordan too he works so damn hard look at interviews with Klay, Draymond, Curry, and Wiggins they all always say how Jordan Poole practically lives in the gym and is always asking questions to get better it reminds me of how people talk about Kobe he got that mamba mentality
Jordan pool was a diamond in the rough like Draymond Green who was drafted at 32nd in the draft! Look what he turned into! The warriors have a habit of finding a gold mine when everybody else have to stop looking!
@@liong5552 I’m a nuggets fan, so I’m we’ll aware of how there’s gems late in the draft. We’ve drafted great for the last 5+ years. Granted we’ve traded most of them and they went to other teams and flourished, but look at jokic. He’ll go down as one of the biggest steals in nba history. We have a great young trio, but injuries have plagued us. Right when mpj showed his potential last season, his back started bugging him again. Then Jamal hasn’t played in over a year, so it’s been dreadful having to watch jokic carry a bottom half team. They’re literally a bottom half team when he’s not on the court and a top team when he is. Thats how good he is, but he can’t do it himself, not against a trio averaging 80+💀 jp’s emergence in this series has been Catastrophic. Poole reminds me of a 2013 curry. Right when curry started emerging. That’s who Jp looks like rn, and it’s scary to think of how good he’ll be in 3 years. Sitting behind guys like curry and klay was amazing for him. Without those guys, we’d never be seeing this. I’m glad the warriors picked him, because he’s great for the next generation since curry is getting old.
Poole had potential even when he was at Michigan. He hit one of the most memorable shots in Michigan history when he hit the game winning half court shot against Houston to send Michigan to the sweet 16. That team made it to the national championship game but lost to a really good Villanova team that season. Poole always had potential he just needed a few seasons in the NBA to put it all together. People are just now seeing the fruits of his hard work. You don't make this big of a jump in 3 seasons if you are not putting in the work off the court. Golden State has a future star on their hands for years to come with JP.
@@saucegood7372 man STFU. He made it where he at now didn't he? Always that one mf. "One shot doesnt mean you have potential" nigga he never said that.
He was no Trey Burke coming out of Michigan that's for sure. Poole has the luxury of learning behind Steph and Klay. Also has a lot of space to work with because of the Splash Bros attention. Going to be interesting to see where his career goes
@@saucegood7372 No but helping a team reach the national championship game with no clear star on that team is no easy task. Yeah Poole sure as hell isn't the player he is now when he was at Michigan but you seen flashes of his potential that year for sure. It takes hard work off the court to reach the level Poole is at now. He always put in the work off the court even when he was at Michigan.
Golden State gets a lot of flack for the signing of KD and becoming a "super team" but people often forget how insane they are at drafting and developing. Drafting their entire core that is still around AND the future of the team is absolutely insane
@@timlett99 what’s up with you weirdos always saying touch grass💀 lol you go outside and get in your piece of shit car and think you doing something with your life 🤣🤣💀💀
kuminga and moody were easy picks. drafting poole is impressive. kuminga was a consensus top 5 pick and when the magic and thunder passed on him he was the clear best player. moody was also arguably a top 8 pick and fell too
@@Alex-hr1bn I thought Kuminga would be off the board by then and the Warriors would use the 7th pick on Moody. Things worked out really well under the circumstances
@@deiondre0 yeah i was just pointing out that while draymond is a smart guy, any regular joe could've predicted the warriors drafting kuminga and then moody
@@deiondre0 Even the warriors organization was shocked kuminga fell so low....... Dude is a freak of nature that's still 19! He turns 20 in October this year!
@@yonathansami Keldon Johnson is just as good maybe slightly worse. Kevin Porter is also close to their level. Idk if you're saying he is clearly better because if so I disagree whole heartedly and you're just wrong.
Jordan Poole was actually the Spurs’ guy as well, they were dead set to draft him, but the warriors picked him with the pick before him. It ended up well tho, they picked a great player in Keldon Johnson
One thing you will learn about NBA Scouts is how much they love to tell people, in hindsight, how much they loved the good players and "really wanted them". Funny, they never tell us about how much they loved guy they actually drafted and turned out to be a bust. :) Almost every time you hear about this stuff years after the fact, it's completely BS.
@@13billy they worked him out, but they also worked out Johnson who they took. So we really don’t know. This always happens in the NBA, but you never hear about any scouts who liked busts after the fact despite the fact that pre-draft they all talk them up. 20/20 hindsight is perfect for a reason.
Steph dropped to GS though, let's not change history here. Everyone though he'd go earlier than he did, mainly to Minnesota when David Kahn decided to take Johnny Flynn instead.
@@KaseyC. based on expected value per draft position, Bob Myers was the 4th worst GM in the league after the 2021 season because so many of his picks have missed. Obviously, if they run the numbers again after 2022 that will get a nice bump with how well Poole, Kuminga and Moody have been (although missing on Wiseman is even more glaring with how well Edwards and LaMelo have been), but his numbers aren't great. And people bring up Draymond, the Warriors took him at 35, but they also had the 30th pick and took Festus Ezili...so there's a lot of revision history here.
I kinda saw this season coming from Jordan Poole since, in his second year (20-21) the last few games, he was on fire. So I kind of expected some of that to be carried to this year, but not on this magnitude
Since he came back from the gleague last season something changed in him. Maybe he just realized he was a bucket while cooking players in the gleague 🤣
Nassir little does actually have a role. He has been on a upside this year with anfernee simons and he is slowly becoming one of the best future pieces for the portlsnd trailblazers
Whole video kinda of annoys me cuz he continuously talks abt how players are busts when all of these guys are under 25! That’s wild to me, they haven’t even had a chance in the league and there are so many examples of players progressing the most after their first 5 or so years in the league. This guys too quick to judge
Lol Nassir is a beast. I was also annoyed by how Garland is on the same tier as Poole and RJ and not with Ja and Zion. Garland gotta be better than Zion so far
The Warriors talent scouts are next level. Also the Warriors actually take their time cultivating and developing players and are patient, a lot of other teams if their draft pick doesn’t turn into something within 1-2 years they’re ready to move on.
@@zo2_jamiro his injury is healed- its just swelling now. he needs to be motivated to play through the discomfort- or hes gonna be greg oden. there is already talk that they are seriously considering sitting the guy out summer league again..... the guy needs reps before hes 28 yrs old LOL
@@abprepboy33 way too early to say this. They are being cautious with him but he definitely has potential especially if he will be learning from draymond. Joel embiid was out like 2-3 years people were calling him a bust and look at him now. Why make wiseman play through swelling and throw him into a rotation that is already very solid when he isn’t 100% healthy or conditioned
I was literally so hype when we drafted him and was surprised he didn’t get picked up earlier. I have a story post from back in 2019 from his rookie summer season where I said he was gonna be an all star in a couple years
People always underestimate hard work and improvement. Most people think players are just how good they are, but Jordan Poole has worked hard to be a better player, where most other just rested on their talent.
My favorite player finnaly getting some love! It's kind of random tho considering he literally has been playing this way the entire season. He is a beast has the potential to be the face of the nba. His handles and shiftyness is extremely unpredictable And his athleticism is very sneaky. All around great nba player
@@juraistolk5968 it is 100 percent possible. Look at curry at pools age. Poole was much better all around. The rate poole is Progressing at there is a chance he can be a top 5 player for sure.
@@Boxing.motive at poole's age, Steph was a better driver, passer, shooter and ball handler but sure let's just make stuff up. I love Jordan Poole but you don't have to rewrite history
Well... after watching the Celtics completely dismantle Brooklyn, I can say that, the Williams pick (#12), turned out great for them. He guarded KD better than I thought anyone could and hit some huge shots when they needed him.
I’ve been a gsw fan since 2013-14 when I stumbled across a video of curry shooting. It fascinated me so I started watching. When Poole was drafted I noticed the raw skill he had. I am a Michigan fan for basketball so I loved him. When he started to get minutes before the bubble I knew he would develop. I had a feeling with the GSW staff he would flourish and fit into the system eventually. Here we are now basking in his success. Hopefully I can watch him for years to come
Nassir Little definitely has a role - He was starting at SF for Portland and averaging 10 a game before going down with an injury and will likely be either the starting SF for them this year or a rotational piece. In a vacuum he's not nearly as good as Poole but to lump him in with guys like Ty Jerome, Dylan Windler and Kabengele is definitely missing the mark.
seriously, nassir has so much upside. there was a period of time where he was leading the league in most rebounds per game off the bench at 6’6, hes a hustle guy and a great defender. he blocked demar derozan from hitting a game winner and has “no role” which is crazy lol. hes also showed signs of his 3 point shot inproving
Slow down there. Did we forget what Jerome did this season too then? Lumping Little and Jerome together is fine if we're praising Poole for a good season. Jerome has bounced around since his draft day but this season was solid for him. If Poole gets this praise for a good season, why shouldnt Jerome? Jerome isnt close to the other 2 guys mentioned if we wanna talk about this season like we are with Poole. Little and Jerome are both fine pieces to have on your bench
couldn't be happier with cam Johnson. he's an extremely talented shooter and has developed into a great defender, and great 6th man as why he was in the conversation. you can never have enough 3 and d guys
It's crazy how so many teams didn't see what I saw in Jordan Poole. Sure is Michigan buzzer beater might have done it for me but I also saw confidence in this guy which goes a long way in the NBA. When you're confident that your shot will fall and it does it is a pretty powerful thing to have in the NBA. I'm proud of Jordan Poole's success and I look forward to my team seeing him in the NBA finals ☘️
nassir has alot of potential, hes a hard worker, hes a tempo pusher. reminds me of herbert jones, but nassir isn’t ad good of a 3 point shooter and nassir is more athletic
It probably also helps that he’s on the same team with the two greatest basketball shooters of all time and can pick there brains and get better at his craft
seriously, nassir has so much upside. there was a period of time where he was leading the league in most rebounds per game off the bench at 6’6, hes a hustle guy and a great defender. he blocked demar derozan from hitting a game winner and has “no role” which is crazy lol. hes also showed signs of his 3 point shot inproving
Man he wasnt that overlooked, I remember everyone was hype when he hit a game winner on march madness some years ago. I dont want watch college hoops but I knew who he was cause he got so much hype after that game winner
I think in redraft it will all depend on fit, like 3-d vs playmaker. Depending who is on the roster. But Poole would be a top 6 pick in a redraft in my opinion.
@@lahdopa that’s not a bad take necessarily, but I feel like there’s still so much time for guys like garland, herro, barrett, poole, and more that we just need to wait it out a little, but I can definitely see where you’re coming from.
Dray just said in one of the interviews after i think the 2nd playoff game vs Denver, that he as a Spartan recognized JP, his feistiness playing for the Wolvs....he didnt say it in the interview but maybe he had an impact in the Dubs selecting him that early.

Golden State grew Jordan Poole from the ground up. They drafted him because of his work ethic, not his talent. If he was drafted by any other team, he would be in the G-league. Stop calling him a steal.
The thing is, had he landed any where else, he probably wouldn’t have developed into what he is today. The warriors are a top 2 team in the league at developing talent. Toss up between them and Miami
you forgot about lebron. lebron makes everyone around him better. thats why so many young players have turned into stars after playing with him. for making young players better its lebron #1 warriors #2 and miami #3
He was wearing glasses back then! I remember him and saying.. damn why did gsw chose him despite lacking bigs?? But now he was molded well and proves he can do more!! Good job Poole, u have proven us wrong and gave ur best!! All the luck for u. U deserve it
19-20 was a rough year for the entire Warriors team. No wonder he struggled then but I had a feeling he'd pick up in 20-21 and turn out well this season. The Warriors have a 'process' if you wanna call it that, like the SIxers. What happens after the end of this season is anyone's guess but I get the feeling, win or lose the NBA finals, the Warriors staff will make him a good to great offer.
lol seriously. nassir led in offensive rebounds off the bench for a long period of time and hes only 6’6, hes a hustle guy and reminds me of herb jones but nassir isn’t as good of s shooter and hes more of a tempo pusher
That's why Draymond goes off on everybody always talking like they know basketball but in truth, not everybody does. This is why scouting matters, not everything about these young players show up on highlights or on big stages, some show potential even just in daily practices with their work ethic.
Ive been saying that Jordan Poole was gonna be great since Summer League when he was a rookie. I didn’t predict an all star level player but I whole heartedly expected him to average 10-15 a night. I guess I was the only one. 🤷♂️
Warriors fan here, I knew he would be great since watching his first season he just was rushing his gm too much n forcing too many bad shots a lot n I said once he stop doing that n just let the gm come to him watch out n look wats happening!... 💯🔥

for spending 19 years constantly working on basketball with less than a 1% chance of making that kind of money even with elite genetics? they took the gamble, worked hard and got the payoff,
@@patsayjack402 lmao they deserve how ever much money they make, if people are willing to pay 50 million on warriors merchandise and tickets why shouldnt the warriors pay steph how much he brings in, its the same reason why ceos are paid more than bin men ceos bring in more money and provide more value, stop with the communist mindset lmao
The warriors don’t scout for just talent and upside when they meet these players they take their personalities/work ethic into play. They are amazing at reading peoples character and it’s not like they haven’t missed on players in the draft but they choose a lot more wisely than just looking at the players build and their upside
things that people aren’t getting is, the warriors create better players that make their entire better all together. curry, klay, and dray were not very high anticipated draft picks but soon they were top players in the league just like poole
Very happy for Poole. He obviously deserves a new contract. It was interesting to see how Steve Kerr pulled back from Kuminga in this series. Will he have a role going forward in a Phoenix/Memphis series? What are your thoughts?
I think the reason kuminga is not being played is because the warriors have a very complicated offensive playbook which he as a rookie does not fully grasp yet. Check out Dub Nation Hqs video on how this affected Gary payton II
It the warriors development, I really think they can make some of the worst players on each team that don’t get time look like rotational pieces at minimum, as a Celtics fan Nesmith gets no play but if he was on the warriors he’d look much better
My favorite college team is Michigan and Xavier is doing amazing in g-league or was and now Jordan Poole is a top player right now I’m so proved of all the Michigan players.
If I were an athlete and declared for the Draft, GS would be the team I want to draft me. Poole got really Lucky..if he was drafted onto any other franchise and had the start he had in GS, he'd be out of the league right now. Instead, he will get an extension this summer. Sometimes, the Franchise that Drafts you can change your life....e.g..in 2009, Steph was picked between Minnesotta and The Knicks......We wouldn't know Curry as we do today if he had been drafted into those 2 franhises..Poole should count himself very lucky to be drafted by the Correct team
Even more proof that the warriors front office and the people behind the scenes knows what the hell they are doing. Drafted Steph, Klay, Dray, Poole and acquired countless key pieces over last decade. Been lots of ups and downs especially in the last 3-4 years but did get 3 championships in 5 finals appearances.
This draft was actually very good from top to bottom. A good mix of legit all stars, starters, and key contributors in the first round and then some really serviceable players all throughout the 2nd round
The Warriors have been an amazing organization at developing offensive players for so many years. I still remember the Baron Davis, Jason Richardson and Monte Ellis days (obviously could mention other players but the list would be too long). They were always at the top of the league in PPG. Yea, they didn’t have great defense and didn’t win a lot but I always had a feeling that the Warriors would become a top team one day. Didn’t think they’d become what they are now, but it doesn’t surprise me. Pacers fan btw 😭
Honestly i know this may sound crazy but i knew Poole would be that guy from the start. He had that flair and confidence of wanting to be "that guy" from the start and whilst i didnt expect him to perfect his bag and rhythm this quickly, it isnt surprising for anyone who watched him since his rookie year. Once i heard in his rookie season from multiple people that he is a gym rat that stays longer than Curry, i knew he was going to be alright. Still crazy how quick it happened and probably alot to do with Curry tbh. Love how Warriors always pick underdogs. Makes them loyal to the system ina pack full of underdogs turned overachievers.
actually since day one I was psyched as an GSW fan I was looking at his offensive skill set during his rookie season and I knew back then that he will be a really good player
I swear to god, on my life, on draft night and during his whole rookie year, I told my dad he would be good one day. I didn’t think it would be this soon tho
What Im also curious about is the player drafted after Poole, KPJ. He was a highly touted prospect coming to the draft but fell to the late first round. What was the reason for this?
I love it. Drafting a team. It still remains to be the foundation of your organization. He will secure a nice payday with the Wartiors, even coming off the bench. He has a taste of winning and he actually contributed on a huge level. He is not going to another team just to see if he can turn around a franchise. He is already on a winning team. Keep working hard Poole
I thought JP was a lot of fun to watch but the takes were accurate. He was pretty sloppy with the ball for awhile and a bit shot happy. I had my doubts. Really happy to see him grow and become a great player. The way he plays, it's undeniable he has learned from the vets.
Same with JLin poole was given an opportunity due to injury last season + hard work + having vets like Curry, Klay and draymond as a teammate he will keep on improving.
NBA media predicting the future is hilarious. Bad takes is the majority. That is you get when you have non players as your panel or a very bad one. The only good NBA media on tv is Inside the NBA.
you probably didnt even know poole existed before maybe the last half of the season last year. stop pretending you would do so much better. its called the draft lottery for a reason
I’d argue you could also swap him with garland. Similar production, and ironically, both took advantage of their back court mate being injured to gain the opportunity to flourish
without steph poole averages 26 ppg from the g league, hes probably 2nd or 3rd after darius cuz zion should be 5 due to his what seems to be problematic personality
As the saying goes, "Never Underestimate the Heart of a Champion". Poole was a diamond in the rough and he will get his payday, it's just a mater of time. Play on young man.
I am the way, the truth and the life. Jesus Christ said that so you may know that He is not a prophet. He is the Son of God the only way to Heaven. Repent.
as a Michigan fan, when he was drafted I literally said this "what happened to" video would be coming. I just never thought it would be coming so soon 😵🤣
