Two Dave Clark trivia tidbits, if you watch the video of the Seekers recording Another You, the guy who's back you see entering the recording booth to get them set was Dave. Next on the reason the Dave Clark 5 were the most booked band on the Ed Sullivan Show. Ed Sullivan personally booked all entertainment for his show himself. Dave Clark booked all dates for his band himself and controlled all decisions. Ed dealt directly with Dave Clark and the two of them hit it off like a dad and lad mutual respect family. You're exactly right. The first wave was sunny and also included Gerry & the Pacemakers and Billy J. Kramer & the Dakotas, peter & Gordon and Chad & Jeremy. But that fall brought in harder, darker groups, also including the Nashville Teens and the Honeycombs.

After Badfinger scored a hit with Come And Get It, a Paul McCartney composition, they fell out of favor. Afterwards they were never heard of. As for suicide, I doubt it. Most likely the members were members of other bands.

Didn't write one song either. He demanded that his name be put down as writer when in fact Rob Ryan was the ghost writer of some of their biggest hits. Others were written mainly by Mike Smith. The band didn't make any money from all of their efforts, they were put on salary wages.

@@magneto7930 I agree。Unlike the Beatles and Stones who were equal partners,the other members of the DC5 were Dave Clark's employees。

Clark was more manager-producer than band member. Yes, he did also play the drums.👍👍👍
@aristedecomgmailcom
@aristedecomgmailcom 2 года назад
@@royrice8597 Clark produced the DC5 records, but he used a session drummer to drum on them. He also did not co-write the songs he got credit for. Ron Richards wrote them by prior arrangement with Clark. Clark was supposed to reimburse Richards for the lost royalties but eventually he stopped doing so. The DC5 didn't last because it wasn't a group like the Beatles or Stones. The members were Clark's employees, not his partners. Clark did not play drums on DC5 records. The irony is that Clark might have made more if the DC5 had been a real group. The Stones and Hollies have lasted decades. The DC5 had flamed out by 1968.

Really a well-researched video. But the audio/narration absolutely must be re-rehearsed and overdubbed to exclude the grammatical errors and associated gaffs. What happened to The Dave Clark Five?.......the best answer was in an excellent review I read in 1993 with the release of the CD compilation that year: "They failed to cross Abbey Road". And that's about as concise as it gets!

Maybe i'm wrong but they seemed kind of created for the moment. Some good songs though.
