I remember in the 2004 version When you bean the batter if you push the left stick up you hit them in the head, down hits them in the legs. It also corresponds to the attributes. Bean to the head affects Batting, ribs=power and legs=speed

There needs to be a follow up video that looks at The Bigs and The Bigs 2. They're pretty much the successors to Slugfest. A lot of the same things as far as the turbo system. I had it on PS3 so definitely better graphics. I also remember a really fun home-plate collision mini game.

The loading screens in these games were 😮‍💨🔥 Also loved seeing the batter turn on FIRE and charge the mound. Also loved beating the shit out of the fielders 😂 Such great memories playing these games growing up.

2004 actually did have the aiming system for pitches X plus analog in any direction for a strike and then square for balls. You could also use turbo for outfielder and infield throws. Punching is also to tag them out. I personally liked 03' and 04' more than the later ones
