WHAT HAPPENED to this poor dresser?? Art Deco Dresser Makeover

This Art Deco dresser looks like it was pulled along the ground upside down! The top was destroyed, deep gouges and scrapes, and areas where the gorgeous mahogany veneer was mangled right down the to substrate!
It was literally trashed; thankfully a contact of mine saved it and passed it along to me, and now it gets to live a happy second life!

Angie, you never cease to amaze me....wow! Can't believe what people throw out. It's crazy in my neighborhood. People are constantly throwing things out similar to this.....I'm already teaching my kids what to look for. Furniture today just isn't made like this. Can't get the same value for the money today.

Beautiful save of a vintage dresser. I haven't seen a cufflink tray since I was a kid, in my father's dresser back in the 1960's. Brought back fond memories.

Angie, you are the BEST at furniture rescue. This one has such beautiful bones and I'm glad you recognized that and restored her for her next life. I don't mind the little scars and dings, either. Someone is going to love and treasure this piece for years to come. Thank you.

I laughed first at "good foot", then at "straight curve". (Good foot was an old James Brown song). I wish I still had my grandmother's furniture. It was like this piece; very well made. I'm so glad you used Odie's Oil on it. It is perfect for this piece.

What an absolute beauty! Don't you just love how back in the day makers made a piece more interesting by working with the wood grain, types, colors etc? You just needed some oil and you had a fabulous piece of furniture. Nowadays I pay extra to get the wood look and that is not even veneer, but printed plastic stuff 🙄. Also, gorgeous kitty!

Wow! You, Andrea are amazingly talented, what superb skills!! 😍 I wish I was just half as gifted as you. But if I may share you my story, for a couple of minutes..... A few years ago I painted a badly damaged tall, pine wardrobe. It had a piece broken on one side, but I filled it with wood spack filler. It had three wicker doors (arched on top) once I sanded it all by hand and cleaned and primed it. I then painted it all white, inside and out. When it was fully dry I lined the whole inside (and the insides of it's 3 mini drawers) with the most luscious, pearl coloured, two toned, wide striped, exquisite Laura Ashley wall paper. I removed the chunky pine door handles and instead added, gorgeous oval shaped, silver filigree, looking handles. It's gone from a boring pine wardrobe to an exotic Morrocan looking (because of the arched doors)...piece, it now 'glows'. I truly love it and am so proud of myself, as it took me forever to do, due to my severely bad back. Two years later, I also lined with the same left over Laura Ashley wallpaper, the inside of my IKEA six drawer dresser I bought for my bedroom. People are amazed when I tell them I did this. I only just stumbled across your channel days ago, but I'm now, totally addicted. 😍 Thank you soooo much. Cheers from down under Australia 🍸🍸💖🇦🇺😊

Angie Angie Angie so glad I went back and look at some of your older videos. You're right such a will made peace and sin that someone was going to throw this out. Those people see scratches they figure it's trash but like you said pieces of solid as a rock gorgeous veneer. And then hardware is awesome solid brass! Who even does that anymore most of the stuff I read done is plated brass. That's either late 40s or early early fifties because of the style change to this more boxy style which is beautiful. Love it, love it, love it!
