Hey everyone... The past few months we closed in. We were having a hard time but couldn’t find a way to share it. Arriving at 5 years of Yes Theory we decided to stop and ask ourselves challenging questions about what we wanted for the future. We’re now arriving at a much better place mentally, physically and amongst each other and are excited to reconnect with all of you 🙏 WE WILL BE BACK STRONGER 💪

You should definitively upload those videos about your “failures”. We are very much used to see success stories everywhere and never see succesful people fail. Society thinks that failure is not an option, but only something that disqualifies you from success. Making videos about these stories will both remind you guys that failing is part of the process, and a reminder to your viewers that failure is possible and necessary in everyone's life. Making full videos about these topics might be, actually, the most meaningful videos you have ever made. We, normal people, normally don't try things not because of the discomfort, but because of the fear of failing. If I may, I am 67 years old. I started watching Yes Theory about a year ago, and while I like you guys and support you from afar, the one criticism I have is that you seem focused on making YOUNG lives better. Nothing wrong with that because you, yourselves, are young. But one way you could expand is by looking into the issues of the 60-plus community. Grant a wish to a senior citizen. I have a wish for a friend of mine who'll be 72 next week. I'm working on it. One of the beautiful things about Yes Theory is that I see young people reaching out in love and caring about other people. The internet has, in many ways, put us into life cubicles. It took a Great Depression for neighbors to care for neighbors in the '30s. You don't see much of that these days. So, keep reaching out. Each person whose life you change has a lovely story. Tell those.

It's not like you went from being a weekly channel to disappearing for 6 months -- you're fine to have a gap and then come back with a 🔥 video.

Yes Theory is the best thing that happened to me on RU-vid, ever. To call this a channel would be an understatement, I see it more as a lifestyle. With love and support from India.

I'm an artistic swimmer. my duet partner and i were supposed to create history for our country by trying to be the first national duet pair to qualify for the Olympics. then covid came along and the Olympic qualifiers got postponed to 2021, and while our country went on a lockdown and our coach returned to her home country, Canada, we found out one morning that she had passed away at her home and was found on her bed... till now we still don't know the cause of death, but we're devastated we can't see her anymore, and that she couldn't bring our Olympic dreams to light :'( but I know that at least she's in a better place now, and she's no longer in pain :')

Because of Covid I lost my job and had to move back home from canada to austria within 24 hours, it was insane and I spent the first two weeks at home in quarantine, feeling sorry for myself ^^ but I managed to find new goals to keep me busy, so now on these last three months I've written the first 105 pages of the novel I've been meaning to write for years, I repainted the shed in my parents garden and started to concentrate on my health (lost 7.5kg ✨). So even though I lost my job and basically my whole life I had built up over the past year (apartment, friends etc.) I still managed to find new goals that I can be proud of in 2020. And now the entertainment industry ist slowly starting up again, so hopefully somebody will need an editor soon enough :D stay optimistic and hopeful ❤️❤️❤️

This year was the hardest year of my life. 6 months ago today I lost a very good friend of mine and almost one month later to the day my cousin died in a car crash. A month and a half after that another good friend of mine took his own life. I lost my job, girlfriend of two years cheated on me, and I was mentally stuck. Your videos have helped me grow as a person and strive to become a better one with each passing day. The last two months have been a huge turning point for me. I started hiking and going on adventures daily and striving to seek discomfort. I’ve lost 40 pounds and I am the healthiest I’ve been in my life. I have a steady job and a car and I’m surrounded by the most amazing people in this world that I’m lucky enough to call my friends and family. I owe partial thanks to you guys as well.

GUYS go and solve one of the riddles of "The Secret: A treasure hunt" book by Byron Preiss. Only three of the twelve boxes hace been found, each one hidden in one estate. Maybe you could solve the one in your own estate, if any. There is always an adventure claiming to be taken.

To stay positive I sent my daughter to stay with her grandparents who she hasn't seen in 3 years. Since covid hit and the schools closed she stayed at the house and was getting so mad that she couldn't see friends or go to school. I was staying at home and working so I couldn't really entertain her as I normally could. She would have to wait. My in-laws suggested that we drive her to Louisiana (10 hours away) and they would keep her and do whatever she wanted. So far she has seen my family and my wife's family more in the past few months than she has in her whole life. I'm so happy she has been able to connect with her family like she never has before. I was in the airforce when she was born so we moved around alot. Missed a lot of birthdays, and other important days. But so far she been there for everything and she actually smiles more than ever.

I can't explain how fulfilled this chanel makes me feel. I have been struggling with loneliness because I'm locked down at home alone and despite the first few months I was very comfy discovering myself and taking care of my stuff, after such long time I was starting to feel depressed. This video makes me realize these feeling of loneliness could be solved so I decided to travel to Madrid (as they no longer have lockdown restrictions) and volunteer in a small farm with a Dutch family of two in exchange of food and housing at their small farm. I can't wait to see the following months of work of yes theory!

Honestly i've never doubted that Yes Theory would eventually come back and make videos again. Take all the time you need and don't give up trying. 😘

During quarantine my shop is considered a essential buisness and almost went out of buisness a few times very close to it with only a few hundred dollars left in my pocket and the companies but I am absolutely blessed to have had been able to get out of bed everyday go to my dream job work the my butt off and still be able to put food on my table, dont look at life as negative all the time look at the positives and dont lose sight of your dreams no matter what happens in the world even if it is getting put on hold right now never give up and you got this

I introduced my boyfriend to Yes Theory during quarantine and he loved what you guys do. So we've been (re)watching videos from years ago 😂. Because of the pandemic, I had to leave my place and move in with my boyfriend because I went from working 30h/week to getting paid for 8. I have no family in the country and finding a job and a new place now whilst applying for universities... is a nightmare. There are very few jobs available and I need to put down money for a guarantor, a deposit and a month rent, all by September. I. Am. Stressing. Out. 2020 has been a crazy year so far, but at least in 10 years I'll look back at it and say 'I went through that and survived'. It's all about not stopping on the way and always trying to move forward, even if sometimes you feel there's no way out. So yeah, I'm still trying. Although we're all going through tough and stressful times, your videos never fail to make me smile and inspire me to seek discomfort. Thank you, Yes Theory. Ps. Didn't expect it to be that long. you truly have been a source of positivity, I only discovered you guys during lockdown and watched your videos A LOT in order to stay positive and it's helped so much. I am so privileged to be able to live in NZ where we are no longer in lockdown, we can go out and do everything we want I've travelled and really understood the beauty of my country, I can graduate! I cant even comprehend how it is in America and how you are dealing with everything.

There is this thing I once said to a psychiatrist, about how I didn’t want to talk about how much I was struggling. About how I didn’t think it was right for me to complain when that or this person had it worse. She told me about how many people think that way. She once had a guy who loved running marathons and such, but ended up paralysed in a car accident. How he had lost a huge chunk of his life but didn’t want to complain about it. Someone will always have it worse then you, but when you feel like shit then you are allowed to feel like shit. You can’t carry the world on your shoulders and keep going. Sometimes you have to stop and fix yourself before fixing the rest of the world.

During covid I lost my Aunt and my Grandpa. Also I was kicked out of my house but despite these things I kept hopes and moved to a new place away from the city, a place with amazing views and a slower pace of life. I got a new job and I am starting next week. I have seen many friends get caught up in movements and political things but I have also had people I never thought would be there, show up with support. In these past few months I really, though all the darkness, found light. This is an extremely abbreviated summary and there way more to the story but I thought I would share. Great message the way ive stayed positive is through living your lives through the camera lens i discovered your channel about 4 months ago and you had so much content to watch i still havent seen it all and the positivity you spread is amazing. Love you guys. I am thankful for all you guys do. During really difficult times, like recently, your channel makes me want to keep pushing forth, not give up, and seek the life I want to live. I will live the life I want to live, because if you guys can, so can I, and for teaching me and showing me that I will be forever grateful to this channel. (I also went to an international school- in Colombia; would love to hear about your experience and how it helped shape you)

I’m not going to lie... it has been hard. I’m guessing that you will probably never see this but the way I have stayed positive is through doing what you have always said to do-seek discomfort. I have never been a goal setter. I just never really had anything in mind to accomplish over a long period of time because I always had so much fear of not being able to complete that task. But during this pandemic, I set the goal for myself to hike every single trail in Boulder. Back in high school I used to work on the trails and maintain them, but I never really knew all they had to offer. Though the Boulder open space has officially 155 miles of trail, due to inevitably having to do some of them multiple times, I have probably hiked over 200 miles in the past 2 months. It has been the most mentally and physically challenging thing I’ve ever done, but it has kept me going in these tough times. It reminds me that even though the jobs and classes I planned to fill my summer with got cancelled, there are still things to look forward to and ways to feel accomplished. I still have about 40 miles of new trail left to complete the challenge, but in August I am hoping to end the challenge with the Boulder 5 peak traverse (climbing all 5 of the mountains in boulder in one day). I also have dreams of writing a book outlining my favorite trails for friends, family, and people in the community to enjoy, but I don’t know the first thing about getting a book published. I have even thought about developing an app for the Boulder Trails Challenge for others to hike every trail, as I am using an excel program to track my progress (which has helped tremendously). I can’t even begin to imagine how much easier this challenge would have been with an app that tracked progress and suggested possible loops to simplify and streamline the process. But I know even less about creating and programming a usable and aesthetically pleasing app, so that feels even more like a pipe dream. But at the end of the day, what matters most is that I was able to get out of my comfort zone and set this goal of hiking every trail. And the glorious end is finally within reach.

At the beginning of the pandemic I bought a “Love Over Fear” Face mask to wear out in public. My anxiety was insanely bad at the time but that small saying has helped me overcome so much within the past 5 months (and I’ve also gotten many compliments on my mask😁) I would just like to thank you guys and this community for helping me seek discomfort and overcoming my everyday fears, much love!

I biked the entire East Coast (Florida to Maine) with a friend (who wasn’t even really my friend at the time) and it ended up being the greatest experience of my life. I said YES to so many things I was scared to do and I think you guys played a huge role in that. Thank you for all that you do!

Before the quarantine I didn’t know about you guys, or the “Yes Theory” channel. At all. In the last months, due to stress, isolation and such i went through depression and anxiety. I can tell you guys that your videos helped me a lot, and cheered me up when i was really down. So a huge Thank You ♥️

Thankyou for blessing me with your positivity. I've gone through a lot since Covid hit. Moving everywhere trying to keep a roof over my head, and trying to do the same thing for my friends and loved ones. Instead of feeling stuck.. It felt like I couldn't catch a break. Even just watching your old videos has given me a boost of positivity to really seek discomfort, which for me was accepting the idea of uncertainty. For me seeking discomfort has overall made me stronger as a person. It has made me a stronger friend and stranger. It has given me the backbone to have the ability to encourage others and help them even when I'm struggling to stay afloat myself. This week everything came together. I found a house, moved my friends in. And have given rooms to family. Seeking Discomfort isn't just a brand. Or a lifestyle. It is the idea of training yourself to enjoy being uncomfortable, actively trying to put yourself in situations that a week or two days ago, you would be terrified. Through that you will build the muscle to overcome anything. Thankyou Yes Theory. I can now say 'I'm stuck'. Stuck in the mindset of always seeking discomfort.

Crazy to think how half of 2020 has gone by when I literally remember having to come to home to my family in march after all my classes got cancelled and we had to continue virtually. These past 4 months have definitely been months of growth, change and challenges. At the beginning of quarantine I decided to start #100daysofsweat (currently on day 93) and it has been by far one of the most challenging and life changing experiences of my life; i haven't been this active since i played football in high school and so committed to something in a long time, so I thank you for that. I have also taken up a healthier food lifestyle, yoga, meditation and running, all of which are things that could have been nearly impossible before quarantine as a current med student. On another note, I just become a pre-intern and was supposed to have my white coat ceremony next month but due to covid19 things aren't exactly looking up, but thats okay. As we head into the next half of this year, I am continuously going to push myself to show up, whether that is for class or for a yoga session, I will show up because over these past few months I have proved to myself that I can. It's so nice and refreshing to have you guys back. Hope you are all staying safe and healthy during such troubling times. Sending all my love all the way from the Dominican Republic :) xx

I feel you. - Trying hard to stay positive but nothing really works out: When my original travel plans (2 weeks, 5 cities in Europe) didn't work out I searched for other options. I came up with 6 options in total, every time it got clear something wouldn't be possible I changed the plan. None of them worked out, which was pretty discouraging - Feeling privileged: For me, life wasn't bad during quarantine. I lived with a friend, had online classes and went to work (agriculture mini job, no masks cause it's physical labor). Then I went back home to live with my family. No business in danger, no crying kids, no job in danger. To just name a few

You guys are already so much more than a youtube channel. You have self-organizing fan communities for so many countries. I have the privilege of living in switzerland which is almost back to normal now and I've been to so many meetups and met so many wonderful people. I even went skydiving with 5 strangers. You are the reason behind all of this. I don't consider yes theory to be only a youtube channel anymore. You guys are a movement.

Easy answer: Take Yes Theory to NETFLIX. We've all been saying how awesome it would be if Yes Theory had their own Netflix series/documentaries.

Hey guys, we feel you and yes, it’s being a hard journey for all of us. I’ve been stranded in a place where I didn’t want to be (far from home), during this quarantine and I thought I was loosing the game, not knowing what to do next, as this whole situation is just crazy and far from being 100% solved. I’m here to say that it is ok for you guys to take this time and as someone said before “seek comfort”, but as a suggestion, keep posting the videos would be a nicer idea to firstly recognise the hard work you always put into them, not ignoring what was done, always learning, improving and sharing! Secondly... to make us smile, and cry, and dream a bit more, as we were used to do every Sunday. We’re hit everyday with so many bad news, that a video from the Carnaval in Brazil and Rick’s happiness just made my day right now. And lastly, please, just know you’re not alone! The only thing that keeps me going during this hard time was a quote from my late grandfather (bless him) "you are a human being , the world will through all kinds of shit at you..but it is your duty as a human to endure and thrive , never stop progressing"

I have so much respect for your channel. Your consciousness during this time I find inspiring. There have been so many videos people have continued to put out that I have lacked the ability to connect with. I know that everybody is dealing with the world in a different way right now but I believe not continuing business as usual, making content, was a great choice. The world is resetting and we should too. Time to absorb and put more thought into our ideas and how we want to affect change in the world.

Why not just make up your own treasure, leave clues about where it is hidden, and then it would be up to us to find it. Hi YES THEORY! I am starting to love your show - it's fun, education, and heart warming. I am watching this particular video- what happened to us - at a time when I am finishing my course outline for university. I am a teacher from the Philippines. And I'm having a hard time finding that inspiration to continue. I've come to point that work has taken a toll on me. Life has becoming boring, calculated and predictable. Continue what you guys do. When you said app it came straight to my mind , an app which shows you location of other yes theorists, let you join together , hang out and have fun ... or legit where people travel for example leave a bottle with a message somewhere and other Yes Theorists have to find it etc. 🤷🏻‍♂️

One of the things that has kept me in a positive mindset is that I should stop putting myself down for the stuff i can't get and start appreciating the things I can get and looking at the options I have for myself in this moment, a lot of people seem to forget that there is a lot more seeking discomfort to do other for example jumping off a plane. Use the opportunity to be a better version of yourself so when you do get the chance to do things you want to do or do things that push you to be a better you, you are ready for them and make sure nothing can stop you. Be happy be what you can do.

Everytime I watch one of ur videos i end up gaining something and realizing something meaningful about life. And that's what i like with this channel, is so wholesome and inspiring that is why i understand if we will have to wait until you guys come bavk again, i dont care how long that will take because you taught me so much. This world is full of discomfort and it is not wrong if for once we find comfort too.

Love your honesty in this one Thomas. The last few months have been difficult for all of us, and a lot of us have had to re-think things. I had quit my job of 6+ years to teach abroad, then only managed 1 month of that because of everything shutting down due to the virus. Sometimes, the most frustrating moments are the 'almosts', like with your plans for the drive-in graduation and the treasure hunt. On many occasions, I have come second place in competitions, or submitted something for a competition I had my heart set on and not got through the first round of judging. But we need to pick ourselves up as best we can, learn the lessons from coming up short and celebrate the fact that we tried. In time, we will come back even stronger.

Why do I feel like my parents just sat me down and said "we need to talk"

My positivity throughout all this madness going on with this crazy world is STRONGER than it ever was. I am now 7 months clean and have recxonnected with my family through Zoom and I am cuurrently a carer for a 78 tr old. I love it. I love my life now. It's simple but it's joyful .

A stroke of positivity: As everyone around the world is, my girlfriend and I are stuck in lockdown apart from each other in a very unexpected long distance relationship for 5 months now, we've been dating since last August and have had the greatest time of our lives with each other. But this was our first long distance and it sure brought a lot of challenges in our relationship, once or twice to the point where we almost broke up because we missed being with each other. Now that it's been 5 months, we still have a few hiccups here and there but yes, I have loved her more everyday and I seriously can't wait for our first anniversary in a few days and hopefully many more anniversaries to come. Love you guys!

This was a strange time in my life. When Covid hit I was preparing for college graduation. I had to move back home and say by to some of my best friends, a few maybe for the last time. I finished my degree online and tried to jump start my career but no one is hiring. To make matters worse I get laid off of my summer job. But with all the struggles I faced in the last few months I realized something, this is what I needed. I don't mean all the things that are wrong in the world, just the time that was a by-product of it. I've spent the time getting closer to a father figure I never knew I had, reconnecting with old friends, and finally learning something my late grandfather tried to teach me many years ago. The world is in a bad place right now and we need to fix it but that doesn't mean we can't try to see the silver lining.

I have just gotten out of a big dark tunnel And one of my random thoughts was that as long as we have health, safety and freedom, we should yes theory our hearts out in the simplest ways one step at a time, so thank you guys for the inspiration, and thank you for the moments that gave me hope watching one of your videos just to forget the hard struggles that we all go through

I've felt down since the end of 2019. Ever since I started my senior year a revolution started in my country and we stopped school. Then covid-19 came and the situation got worse, and now the economical situation can't be described. There is no graduation and all my dreams were crushed. But I say there is always light in the end of the tunnel so I sat down and put new goals for my life new dreams to live up for. And you have always helped me mentally and of course helped me overvome some of my fears and still working on it. So THANK YOU FOR EVERYTHING.

Hey My name is Michelle. I started following you last year when I moved from Germany to New York for one year for an Au pair year. I started watching your videos and you inspired me so much and also cause I watched all of your videos you helped me improving my English! When the Corona thing happened I thought about going home and I struggled for a couple month with homeschooling kids, being homesick and all this stuff. But I stayed. Hopefully I will get to do a road trip next week and visit the Grand Canyon and other national parks what is one of my biggest dreams. I even thought about doing a skydive into the Grand Canyon but only of it works with Covid rules! You inspired me so much and I just wanna say thank you for that !

I appreciate you so much. I work with youth as a volunteer and your theory has helped me encourage those mini adults to be fearless though fearful. After my neck surgery I just watched again all your videos so I could smile while I was in pain. I even have my boys watching you so they too can see powerful young men living outside the box, loving others and doing your best to inspire. I can only imagine the lives you’ve touched. I always say as long as I reach 1 then all was worth it. So know you reached 1 powerfully and it has had a ripple affect! Love ya all so much.
