When I first got into skating after building my first complete at a skate shop, my sister and I finally convinced my dad to get a complete built for my lil sister about a week later. She was learning with me so I wanted her to have proper equipment. We picked out the World Industires Willy vs Flameboy deck with purple/pink BAM trucks. It was the graphic where they are aiming the elemental blasters at each other and the beams meet in the middle to make a yingyang version of themselves. I remember we loved the characters, where as every other brand was just plain logos or rider boards. but most deck art had willy losing to flameboy which at the time being so young, we settled on the deck where it was a draw between them. I moss that board so much.
96/97 I was in 6th grade. I remember collecting CSS catalogs and dreaming of all the different combinations of setups I’d want. We’d cut out the boards and add sand paper to make little finger boards. As a bday gift my parents took me to the local shop, I was set on getting a Flameboy deck but left with a Chet Thomas A-Team deck with an graphic looking down the cockpit to the afterburners of an F14 jet. I’d give anything to go back to those years haha
Still my favorite company and family of brands ever. I collect old blind world and 101 boards and still ride blind and world current boards to this day. Thank you rocco.
World industries was my first “pro” board I got when I was probably 10. I had the graphic where Wet Willy and Flame Boy was playing each other on the video game! Loved that board.. this took me back…

Does anyone remember the World Industries “slick” decks? Lol. I had a few. They had a plastic layer to make the deck easier to slide. I always thought it was a cool idea but too gimmicky
With a lot of luck and talent they managed to pull this off. But as a child of the 80s, I really really hated the world industries characters. They look like a cross between the Smurfs and Mickey Mouse, with the storyline of spy versus spy . Marketing to young skaters,and young skaters like cartoons 😢 but the edge in graphic content was removed.
