Def don’t go full electric especially if you’re using it to transport Porter around unless you have another car that is gas or hybrid for long distances. From experience when an electric car decides to stop working, it just stops working 😅 parts are hard to find/replace. I think hybrid is the safest choice.

Will preface this with yes there are definitely crap vets out there, but the veterinary medicine industry is under incredible strain right now. Veterinary staff are leaving the industry at very high rates (whether that be just leaving the job or literally k1lling themselves) due to the stress of dealing with awful people that blame them for prices that they have absolutely zero control over. Moral of the story is absolutely do what you feel is best for your pets, but be kind to your vet staff (not saying that you aren’t, just to everybody in general) and they are NOT just in it for the money for the love of god. Vets are expensive and it really sucks but it is what it is!

God bless that vet that saved little Zeus. He's been with you so long, I'm so glad you got him back there. Wish I had a vet like that here in Wisconsin for my cats, they're healthy but I wish I had someone to turn to just in case. Good luck with the car, I hope you get what you want!🤞🏻🍀

I would avoid full EV especially since you travel far to your holiday home. Two adults, suitcases, pram, dogs and dog gear will considerably reduce the distance you can travel. Yes you can stop and charge it but sometimes you just want to get to your holiday or get home without extra stops

Hey, so Malcolm has the ability to say “come back for free” because he is the owner of that practice. Vet staff that are employed by a company don’t have that power unfortunately 🙂 and vets HAVE to give people different options to choose from because people have different wants and (unfortunately) financial abilities. Completely agree re the vets, same here in the uk, I’ve found it massively various from practice to practice, but some are so so money orientated, the care seems secondary which is so sad and I know the vets themselves obviously care but they are working for a business and some really lack the personal touch. When you find a place where you feel has your pets best interest at heart first and foremost, it’s priceless. So glad Zeus is on the mend ❤❤

Poor little Zeus! Glad to hear it's not something serious after all of that. Buying a car without test driving it is wild to me. I need to know what the car feels like on the road before I buy it. I once drove a rental version of my same car but the rental had a regular automatic transmission and mine has an auto-manual and the difference was major even though I never use the manual mode!

The Mazda BT50 is basically the less expensive, less luxurious Ford Ranger. They're nice enough, but personally I prefer the ranger wildtraks. Prados hold their value something chronic, you're still paying mega bucks for the 90s second hand versions of those. They just hold their value for whatever reason. Re the EB9 I'd be seriously looking at what their battery life is down the track because I'm seeing a lot of electric (and hybrid) vehicles lose their range severely as they get a but older and you don't want to end up getting stuck with a car that only gets you half an hour down the road on a full charge in a couple years.

Hey, I would personally look at a hybrid for a new vehicle. I work for KIA and have been in the industry for 20 years (I sell cars) and unless you have access to a fast charging stations be prepared to wait up to 3 days to fully charge your vehicle. I live in Australia and we don't have the infrastructure to go totally electric here, great run around if you are only doing a few kms a day but big trips it is a hassle you have to hope there are charging stations along the way. They also read well on paper but that is optimum driving conditions no radios, air con, windows up and driving a regular speed. Hybrids give you the best of both worlds and are fuel efficient and you aren't restricted in ways of planning a trip.... petrol stations are somewhat easy to find.... charging stations not so much. The reason the EV9 is cheap at the moment is they can't move them for that exact reason.

I have a Kia Carnival thats diesel and love it! I know its a minivan but doesnt really look as minivanish as others as that was a big thing for me haha. The space in it is insane and the way you can configure seats around is so so good. Electric sliding doors are the best too especially with kids and the boot is absolutely massive! Also has the 360 camera which makes parking it so easy. Feels higher up too, not full suv height but not far from it. Fully understand if its just not for you though 🙂

When you find a good vet, they’re worth their weight in gold. I’ve been taking my 16 year old to the same vet her whole life and even though we’ve moved quite far away, I still travel to take her back because I just don’t trust the others we’ve been to over the years to care for her the way they do. Shes not just a number and I’m not just $$$.

I’ve had a head cold for over a week too they’re very tiring and the sinus headaches sucked! I also lost my smell and taste for the first 2-3 days. I’m on the end of it now I think too thank goodness just wish the cough would go and nose would stop running. We pick up our new car tmrw 🎉. We Drive a small 2014 Honda jazz but now expecting our third child in 2 months we need more space for 3 kids car seats pram etc. So we’ve chosen a white MG HS vibe. You should check them out. Ours is a 2022 model, ex company car with 38,000 kms so it’s like brand new and only cost us $18,990! We had front sensors, dash cam, tinting and paint and interior Protection added for an extra $4,000. So a very good deal.

My dog has allergies and right when you said the symptoms i knew right away the type of treatment they would give. Weird the first vet didn’t notice that.

We had an allergy dog and defo sounds the same as Zeus. You can get a medicated shampoo as well to help keep the sores etc also. So glad you changed to a vet who cares!

DO NOT go for a Kia/Hyundai if you want reliability. Engines are know for blowing up. I know someone that ordered a Kia brand new, has to get repainted cause there is dirt in the paint and it was the second one she got, the first one just died on her while she was driving.

Some vet clinics are just money hungry in out system rather than the underlined issue glad u got him sorted

For an affordable option we have an ldv d90 and it’s amazing! It’s sooo spacious! The boot space Is incredible

Highly recommended the Mitsubishi Outlander Hybrid, high safety rating and such good fuel efficiency being a hybrid ☺️ Also a big car with lots of space for kids and all their stuff.

I changed vets a few years ago, I now pay a little more for each visit, but the staff doesn't act like I'm an inconvenience them when I need to see them like my previous vet did..

I’m still watching, but about Zeus. My sisters dog has allergies. She gets red raw arm pits and licks at them, she gets injections and takes tablets everyday, and the tablets they get are from the chemist (prescribed) but they’re just an anti histamine the same as an adult takes

I had to put one of my dogs down in 2022 and my vet cried with us he is phenomenal I would never take my pets to anyone else

I once took my cat in to a vet for some minor concern. He looked at her for 30 seconds and said “I wouldn’t recommend any further testing”. They leave and the nurse comes back with a quote for $600 of additional testing recommendations!! Then had the vet come back and try to guilt trip me after I declined! At another visit for my other cat I asked him to elaborate on something he’d been explaining and he said to me “well you wouldn’t understand” wtf?? Switched vets and haven’t had to see that jerk in 6yrs. No regrets!

Im into hybrids at the moment,sadly some vets care most are in it for the money and as a side note get your dog prescription filled out at the chemist it is cheaper than the vet and the chemist will have it

I had my life saved in a Mitsubishi. They don’t make the one I owned, a 2005 Endeavor, but I would definitely check out Mitsubishi if I was in the market for another SUV. I was hit driver side at a road crossing, and my car almost flipped over but righted itself, thankfully. My airbags deployed from the door and steering wheel, and that car cushioned my body so well, I only had insane bruises, but not a single broken bone. I LOVED that vehicle. I would have it still, but my husband traded it in a few months ago for a new Honda Truck, that is absolutely lovely, but not what you guys are looking in to. I know car quality and safety change as years go by, but I would check them out if you haven’t already. Just to see. I know they have an Outback model that looks pretty nice, but I have never checked it out to speak on anything other than the endeavor. Either way, I hope you find the one that works best for all of you soon. It can be so tedious and exhausting trying to get to select the right one. Also, I am SO glad Zeus is finally on the mend, and that you were able to get the vet you trust the most. It is extremely important to have complete faith in the people who care for the ones who cannot speak for themselves. I get that it is a job, and they have a business to run, but we know when they just want a paycheck, and when they actually care for the patients in their care. We don’t need to pay for trash removal, or syringes per se, it can be included in the office visit fee, know what I mean? I prefer when the vets say, if it were my pet…and helps make informed decisions, not check a, b, or c like an we’ll see how it goes.

Petrol is the best hybrid is good but the parts are quite expensive and there is quite a long waiting list as more people have bought them not as many garages keep the parts in stock the time it takes to get your car back is way longer

I have a Toyota Hybrid and i love it. Hybrid is the way to go as you so get the best of both worlds. They are so cheap to run.

Shady vets are apparently a world wide issue! I also quit using a vet that was closer to my house because they charged ridiculous money and pretty much forced you to do unnecessary testing “this could be the issue sometime in the future “??? What ??? It’s not the issue NOW treat what is wrong NOW some are definitely all about $$$$ and not your pet unfortunately 😢Glad you went back to the vet you know and Zeus is so much better!! It breaks my heart when a pet is not feeling well…Car shopping is exhausting!!! Good luck in finding the perfect vehicle!!

You know it's safe to give dogs CBD oil to treat pain Zeus could take between 2 and 3mg of CBD safely I know in NZ you need a prescription from a doctor. In Canada there is a pot store on every corner but it's legal here.
