I’ve been in crypto since 2011. And this kind of behavior (sweet talk + deflection) has been everywhere. As said in the documentary, many are politically (almost religiously) very libertarians. Their political thinking starts and stops around themselves. Even the deflection is selfish (satoshi’s quote “you don’t understand, I don’t have time”). The truth is they don’t care about equality or equity or even society at large. They don’t want to spend time thinking about those topics. They pretend to be politically savvy. Except you do get taxed on "Taxable events" like when your trade from one coin to another and managed to make a profit in the trade. She already explained that it's no different to if you trade stocks, bonds or other assets. The point is that anytime you choose to interact with the government, through their currencies, you will need to be taxed as such. I am really not sure where the no tax narrative came from.

Bitcoin is a scam, not crypto as a whole. Bitcoin has no utility and is not scalable. Bitcoin is only relevant because we are still in a speculative market, NOT one driven by utility. "Decentralized" doesn't mean "democratized". That's something the crypto pundits either don't understand, or refuse to acknowledge. Its essentially warlordism, but with the "winner" being the person who has the biggest bank account rather than the person with the biggest stick. Sure, those warlords are "decentralized" in the sense that they don't have a single collective leader controlling their actions, and sometimes they even fight among themselves. But there's still no democratic input from anyone who isn't one of those warlords.

They have essentially unrestricted ability to do whatever they want, only being barred in instances where they come into conflict with another warlord of equal or greater power. But its not democratic. If some random serf wants to assert power, they first have to figure out how to get a big enough stick to become a warlord. Of course in crypto we don't have "warlords" and "sticks" and "serfs". We have "whales" and "media attention" and "dipshits who waste their life savings when a whale used their media attention to pump a cryptocurrency or NFT they were wanting to dump". But its the same general principle. There is no single person controlling the whales - they are decentralized. But at the same time the dipshits don't have any say in things - there is no democracy. Even just among the whales there is no democracy. They all do whatever they want. Often their interests align and they seem to operate in concert, but there is no actual coordination or "voting" going on. Conversely, you can have democracy with centralization. That's the model all democratic governments in the world follow (some follow it closer than others, but they all follow it). The two concepts are not mutual exclusive. Anyone who tells you they're the same is trying to rope you into a scam. "Don't worry, you'll have all this control over your assets!" No you won't. You'll watch them sink while the scammer makes off like a bandit. Just like any other scam.

bitcoin doesn't get fucked up by inflation, that is one of the most important truths about it. Inflation is used to make poor people poorer and the value of the dollar is basically controlled by the government.
