Maybe starting with a raw for the something is killing the children and paying for them to press and clean wouldve been a better option. 9.8s are already $500-600 and a high grade candidate might be $250-350
Unfortunately, cracking slabs for signatures is never a good ideas. Those books go through a lot of hands and can be damaged. Did you get the graders notes? Did you take extensive pics prior to cracking and after? I would love to see them compared in the slabs. I have a CBCS 9.9 of a book I have in a CGC 9.8 and you can clearly see the differences in the two.
