Trying to break timing belt and see what happens. Didnt break but engine shut off from teeth skipping. Engine is non interference. If you do this with a interference engine it will blow up. Another insann vudeo at 50 subs👍
Toyota is refusing to die. Most toyota engines are non-interference (no hitting valves with piston). Just set the timing and slide a new OEM toyota belt and Japanese bearings and drive another 100K miles.
The engine won't blow up if the belt breaks on an interference engine. More than likely the piston will just impact, and bend the valves in the cylinder that is next in the firing order after the belt breaks. That's what your timing belt does is synchronize the timing between the crankshaft and the camshaft(s) so everything moves in the correct order and at the correct "time". The engine won't explode, unless there are other serious problems, you will just lose compression in the cylinder with the impacted valves.
...Yes it will. The valves bend or break off, destroying the piston, cylinder, and head. That's an entire longblock. Had it happen on my 1.8T VW. Yes, it absolutely will, and does destroy the engine.
@@chrisladouceur4093 false. Happens all the time. Breaking a timing belt on a crash engine (interference) destroys the engine in a catastrophic way. MAYBE you get lucky and only the shortblock is gone, but often enough it ruins the inside of a cylinder or leads to a broken valve getting caught by the piston skirt and knocking a hole in the side of the block. Or it causes the piston to disintegrate, and the wrist pin goes thru the block. None of this is "odd" or "unheard of." If fact, they are "known methods of failure for this particular instance." That's "blown up." It's real, it's a known mechanism of failure. Not much to argue about here bud...
Yes, 5sfe Toyota engine is very reliable. That's why I have two such vehicles. Though rather underwhelming in power. I think next generation they went interference engine. The mechanical repair industry didn't really warm to the non-interference concept
Exorcise in futility . won't see any damage looking at belt. Damage will be inside the engine. Bent valves, broken valves, hole in piston, cracked cylinder head from broken valve pieces being smashed between piston and head. Or nothing if it's not an interference engine !
timing belts like dayco and Gates and Toyota have kevlar strands in them..yep the same stuff used in bulletproof vests.... what really kills a belt is oil leaks over time
now i see how tough the timing belt is, makes me sad i wasted my time today changing the belt and breaking a tensioner bolt need to drill it out now ffs
This is probably the same thing that is happening to my Toyota 100, it just won't start. Checked everything, the wiring, the distributor even the plugs and nothing. Thanks so much. I will check the timing belt, replace it and see what happens. I will update in a few if this helps @Edgar
Took my truck to get the timing chain replaced and they tell me after they replaced it that they hear a knocking noise coming from the engine. Long story short my engine seized up and was checked up by another mechanic and was told the valve hit the piston. Was this due to the faulty replacement of the timing chain by original mechanic
Next video I would like to see ...because I'm curios if the engine it's stil running and usable after you mont new timing belt..and make a detailed tutorial how to set the timing, after the belt broken.. that's my friend it will be awsome👌.will help a lot of people 👍 ...thank you!
I have a video with a new belt on and I show the belt that I cut. It's the part 2 video. I haven't done a timing belt video, but there are a lot of great detailed videos. Just search for the car you have. 👍
I guess this is the reason why Russians only change their timing belts once they have snapped and they are left stranded on a dirt road 😂 timing belts are strong 💪FYI, I live in Russia with my Russian wife and my father in law is one of the Russian culprits that doesn't change his timing belt, getting stuck on a dirt road, ringing me up to come help him 😂
Thank you, i really wanted to see what happens when the belt snaps, i wish it snapped, but i think skipping teeth has the same effect on the car, dont know, i heared it bends the spark plugs inside the engine or something like this
I recently put together my 1997 Accord 2.2 engine. Not sure what engine you have. On the 2.2, you'll need to make sure both timing belts don't have any slack and timing marks are spot on including the distributor is set correctly. Worst case scenario - If T-belt came lose, you'll need to verify valves are not bent. I believe the 2.2 are interference engines. Good luck!
From what saw tearing it apart, looked like no one had touched the belt. This is how Tensioner is loose Tensioner bolt snaps when loosening, snap means factory torque down. Timing belt cover, all bolts had the snap. You only get that from originally torque set factory torque machines.
I have a Honda unitta timing belt that has 200 k miles on it and it is a part of my experiment on how long before it breaks I am the original owner of this 2000 Honda accord lx.timing belt and water pump was changed on October 2004 at 105 K miles at the dealership. So now its been 15 years ago.I have a gut feeling that this timing belt will not break for the next 5 years or until the year 2025…My odometer readings now is 401 k miles.Same engine and transmission.Since the beginning I use synthetic oil every 6k miles and a valvoline synthetic transmission oil every 30k miles . I am not afraid if the timing belt breaks because I know it won't.
The legendary toyota Camry best cars ever made 91-01. Stay away from 01-2010 Toyota Camry not good. The 90s arr the good years for toyota any model just not corolla 98+ engines made in us somewhere total crap
Timing belts don't just snap on their own, It's normally the tensioner what fails or one of the pulleys freeze /sieze. Take a old used timing belt out try and snap it with your bare hands it will be impossible.
Yes just like I did on my buggy this last winter: I forgot to drain the water, outside being freezing cold, I went to school then my father drained it, (like a noob tho) water was still in the block, like a dumb ass I cranked it... Guess what ? I broke the belt right off because the water pump gear was like frozen welded :P But I don't have an interference engine (Daewoo Matiz/Spark 3 cylinder sohc)

so , even if it is cut several times , belt still does his job.......interesting , considering scammers who look at engine and say......OMG U WERE SO LUCKY SHE DIDNT BRAKE......
If he actually drove the car and accelerated onto a highway, it would have snapped no problem. The point of changing the belt, especially on an interference engine is so you don't bend any valves if the belt fails or skips a tooth. It doesn't have to break to hurt the engine, just stretch. Sure it won't matter much if it's not an interference engine, but it's still an inconvenience.
My car stop when I was driving and this is the sound when I try to restart it: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-zAo-88VSw18.html This could be timing belt?
You should be able to here if the fuel pump turns on by putting the key to ACC. Or if the car doesn't have this letters, just turn key but don't start. What car is that?
