Anyone remember the 1951 film 'The Day The Earth stood still' ? In the last scene, Klatu told the world leaders, "I am not here to help you resolve your petty problems. I am an envoy, I am here to give you a message. Do not come out here, and bring your aggression. We will turn your planet into a burning cinder." I find that old film to be very prophetic.

I'm of the opinion that earth is the ghetto of the galaxy, where traveling aliens wind their windows up and try not to make eye contact when they pass by.

I havnt owned a record player in over 30 years. Heaven knows what aliens are gonna do with that record. A Frisbee maybe.

In 1976 in the UK, when I was aged 8 we were experiencing an amazing summer. I was out playing with friends. A crystal clear, blue sky. We saw a white object high up in the atmosphere and it descended, becoming larger. We all saw it. It was what we now would call a "tic tac". No noise from it, no vapour trail, no wings. I would estimate it descended to about a thousand feet and was clear as anything. The same shape as a tic tac but what has struck me since then are two things in addition to the aforementioned. One: It was perfectly smooth and white, looked like it was made of porcelain, just like the porcelain they make toilets out of with no rivets, bonds or joins. Two: After floating above us for about 20 seconds it shot up with incredible speed. It just zipped out of there like a bullet from a standing start. Incredible. I know what I saw. It was not from this planet for sure.

My father was an engineer on the telescope for SETI in PR. He worked on other NASA projects before he left to work with White Sands Missile Range. I think the woman at the 11:00 min mark is the woman that the movie “Contact” was based on. I could be wrong. Anyway, my father brought home the most amazing telescopes. I wish everyone could experience what I did and see what I saw. I believe that if only one planet, in every galaxy, has intelligent life then we have hundreds of millions of planets with intelligent life. It’s not a question of “if”, it’s a question of “how many”. Imagine….❤

Humans can be proud of their achievements in science and technology

It takes light years to receive light from the nearest star. If we send a signal to the nearest planet, it will take light years for it to get there. For that being said, for we will all be dead before a reply could be sent back to earth.

Why we sending ALL our personal information in one shot? I mean, the first thing people tell us is to never tell your home address to strangers.

Better communication with aliens and ourselves as humans would be images and videos, especially if there actually is other civilization outside of Planet Earth... Because we barely discovered this newer communication with images and videos, especially if you take a Smartphone for instance. It is my belief that we all might be watching videos from other civilizations without even noticing it, it's a faster way of communicating and sharing information.

It depends less on the Drake equation and more on identifying actual intelligent life on the nearest planets within 100 light years, within 1000 light years, 5000, light years and so on. Any extra terrestrial civilization must exist within a timeline of development at least 100 years beyond that of our own, which within a decade has just developed here on earth. The possibility that this stage of development will last for 100-1000 years or longer or maintained as long over the course of time of an advanced extraterrestrial civilization, and in which our timeline can intersect for contact either way. There's the question of whether we would be the first contact, or in a larger view of whether an alien civilization advanced in a region of space with multiple worlds and civilizations.

I am a Singaporean - a tiny little island at the southern tip of Malaysia. Our City-State made remarkable progression from a dirt-poor 3rd world nation at the end of WW2 -1945 where we remained a British colony; to the status of the 4th richest nation by GDP per person displacing even USA into 5th position. Pardon me but the above statement isn't some bragging rights but I wish to make a point about - "why didn't any advanced civilisation contacted Earth ?" Singapore was ably led by some of the best thinkers in this century and notable our 1st Prime Minister - Lee Kuan Yew. After he passed away, there were many clamours to erect his statue everywhere in our city-state. His reply ? My statues are 'everywhere' - in the form of buildings, ports, airports, transport systems, diplomatic ties, business links, cultural developments, etc. Why is there a necessity to make a granite outline of my physical appearance when The Evidence Is Everywhere ? See ? The fact that our solar system operates in perfect synchrony can NOT be a fluke or Natural occurrence. It has to be created by an intelligent species and periodicaly monitored for any slight, chaotic or random variations in its operation. The entire universe is PROOF an advanced civilisation already exist - I dare say to ensure continuity of a carbon-based biological intelligent lifeform like ours ? I stand corrected but I think that's the basic requirement of a self-sustaining and perpetual continuation of this current universe. Finding a planet with life on like earth, is like finding a specific signed grain of sand on 1 of earth's beaches or in the depths of one of our oceans and saying go find it with no clues to what beach/ocean/country it was hidden in/on and then making it a billion times harder by spacing out each grain of sand light years apart without oxygen, water or food.
